I AND OTHERS GOT INVOLVED IN A SILLY ARGUMENT ON THE OTHER THREAD. I THOUGHT WE SHOULD START AFRESH. WE ARE ALL BROS AND SISTERS AND SHOULD LEARN THAT SOMETIMES WE WILL DISAGREE. WHATEVER OUR AGENDAS OR POLITICAL GAMES, PUT THEM ASIDE AND BE POSITIVE.

LETS ALL GIVE OUR IDEAS HERE.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO IN FUTURE?

need to state the importance of Kes in Sikhi, not just by leaflets (which were handed out in Edinburgh), but on a national scale. on tv, radio some kind of discussion programme

papoo thinks that if we can show how important kesh are to us, then the government will think twice before they attack the dastaar or kirpan

pyara thinks that the goverment already know the importance of kesh to sikhs, the authorities know the importance of kesh to sikhs and even the media seem to know the importance of kesh to sikhs....pyara thinks maybe its the sikhs who dont know the importance of kesh

pyara has been doing some thinking and thinks that maybe the sikh community in general dont appreciate the intensity of the beadbi of kesh....so the work needs to be done at grass root level....

but papoo was listening to a radio station (i know sorry its manmat) and the presenter was talking about the cross issue with british airways. he said he doesnt see why muslims have to wear the vail, and referring to the turban he said he knows sikhs who dont wear turbans, so he doesnt see why we have to. so papoo thought education is needed. and the best form of education is through publicity.

true, true papoo...pyara cant disagree with that....however the fact that a person who does not keep kesh will call himself a sikhs causes confusion in the mainstream society...thats why the radio presenter and others get confused on the importance of kesh because "sikhs" look confused themselves on the importance of kesh....in a school classroom of 15 kids who call themselves sikhs, there might be one kid who keeps his kesh...the other 14 do the beadbi of kesh but still classify themselves as "sikhs"...... perhaps we should also think about that too.....
