You said we shouldn't remove hair, that would mean we should be really careful when we comb our hair too. Sometimes our hair are tangled and while running a kanga thru them some hair are uprooted.

It is a principle that I'm talking about and so there's no need to consult all Punj Pyaaray. Kurehits are kurehits and there are no exceptions, no matter what the situation. No punj pyaaray have the capacity or power to give leniency on them.

You've given examples of operations to save lives and although "understandable" it doesn't mean it's not a kurehit. Those people do have to go for amrit again. At the same time we have the example of Sant Kartar Singh Bhindranwale in front of us who after being injured in a car accident refused to allow doctors to shave his head for surgery and chose death instead. Not all of us could or would make that decision but that example remains none the less.

Your kangha example isn't really useful as doing kangha is a hukam and secondly any hair that come out do so unintentionally. If you are doing kangha with the intention to remove hair, then that too is indeed a kurehit.

At any rate, my post was directed more towards KFI's post (perhaps it was sarcastic but I can't be sure). To save a life is great. But at the same time, you cannot get exemptions from kurehits. My suggestion remains that they ask the Dr. to not shave the area.

Apply the same thing to this situation. The person doesnt intend to remove his Kes, as helping others ( in this case a MAJOR seva) is a hukam too. So removal of kes isn't intentional here, its for a reason. As you said then a person has to be pesh or shak amrit again, thats a viable option.

You said he can go for it without hair removal. Everything is in Guru Ji's hands but what if that endangers his life ??

I will cut my kes during the Peel Police Cancer Charity help campaign.

Where everyone cuts their hair and becomes bald, and donates them to the Charity.

I will not be doing kurehit as I am doing seva for the community.

The Punj Pyaaray and Rehit do not make exceptions for kurehits. Rehit is rehit and there is no flexibility with something like kurehits.

Cutting or shaving of hair is not allowed for a Gursikh. Be it for the "community" or anything else. Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and those Singhnees in Meer Manoo's jails could have saved their little babies had they decided to "temporarily" convert to Islam. What bigger reason could there be than to save the lives of helpless infants? But they made their choice and it was not to compromise with their Sikhi.

Regarding this issue in particular: operations can be performed without removal of hair. It's not mandatory, it's just a precaution to avoid infection.

I have always enjoyed reading your posts, but i really dont agree with what you have said here. In no ways can you compare Qurbani of those singhnees with this situation.

No one is asking the original poster to embrace islam. No one is saying that his/her babies will be slaughtered. All i am saying is there is no need to exaggerate these issues. Bone marrows rarely match and i see this as a chance to save a human life.

What if a gursikh needs a bone marrow, would he not let doctors remove hair from tht area ?? What about the mothers who have a Cesarean Operation ?? What about the Gursikhs who have tumors removed from their brains ?? ..Are you suggesting they all should remain "TRUE GURSIKHS" and DIE ??

Its funny how we say we shouldn't kill animals ( for vegge sikhs, dont debate on this now) and here we are saying let a human die because its against sikhi to cut hair.

You always surprise me. Donating hair for cancer is totally different. You can give money to such institutions. Can you give money to this patient instead of a matching marrow ?? Do some thinking veer ji.

If this is the SIKHI we are talking about i am better off staying away from this SIKHI.

hmm from the above i quote i can assume that even if body part which has hair is cut into pieces during te battle, when fighting for the rights of others, the sikh doesnt run away from the battle.

Having said that, i think you should ask the docs if they can do the procedure without removing hair.

Personally i think its a test for you and only you should decide what you have to do.
