ਮਃ ੫ ॥mehlaa 5.

Fifth Mehl:

ਵਿਣੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ॥

vin tuDh hor je mangnaa sir dukhaa kai dukh.

To ask for any other than You, Lord, is the most miserable of miseries.

You will read in many places, whether it be Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, or Books that we should do Ardaas to ask for the precious gift of Naam. The weakness of our minds tend to get the better of us in many situations. Its almost as saying we use Guru Sahib as a twenty-four hour Santa Clause who is waiting to hand out our gifts and desires whenever we want. Our mind can go from wanting to go on a vacation or hoping to sleep in. However, we all know that these material longings are all temporary, which will eventually lead to causing more pain and sorrow. Our mind is never at ease or satisfied. Upon loosing one thing, we yearn to desire another. Thus, our mind is always in distress and anxiety. However, asking for the Lord only results in utter content and happiness. Our mind will be at ease and we will be in celestial bliss.

ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ॥

deh naam santokhee-aa utrai man kee bhukh.

Please bless me with Your Name, and make me content; may the hunger of my mind be satisfied.

Just like our stomach is continuously hungry for food and thirsty for water our mind is hungry for our desires. Guru Sahib is the only one that can control and satisfy the hunger of the mind which is always yearning for new things. However, when The Glance of Grace is cast upon us all of our desires have been attained and our mind can rest with satisfaction.

ਗੁਰਿ ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਮਨੁਖ ॥੨॥

gur van tin hari-aa keeti-aa naanak ki-aa manukh. ||2||

The Guru has made the woods and meadows green again. O Nanak, is it any wonder that He blesses human beings as well? ||2||

Our human mind is incapable of understanding the wonder that Guru Sahib can accomplish. He created us and so did he create the remembrance of his beautiful name. After so many wars and disputes, Guru Sahib cleans up our acts and as stated “has made the woods and meadows green again”. Guru Sahib is the creator of all creators. What would the creation be without the creator?

Vaheguru d_oh.gif

Gurbani is like an ocean full of jewels, there are so many hidden jewels through the grace of guru sahib we can find these jewels and bring them to the jeweller (guru sahib) who then gives us the wealth of naam, vaheguruuu

Guru sahib says ho bairaag manaa, become sad from this world, because the only support for THE SOUL is the Ultimate Soul, no-one else, NOTHING else. Recognize your identity, man tu jot saroop hai| Direct the mind the right way to find these jewels, with the help of other gurmukh soul divers, dive deep into this ocean, the deeper you go the better.

The last line bhainjee wrote, "What would the creation be without the creator?" It doesn't really reflect on the last line of the shabad, guru sahib is saying: gur van tin hari-aa keeti-aa naanak ki-aa manukh. ||2|| I think what guru sahib is trying to say is that, THAT guru who "has made the woods and meadows green again", he can purifying humans in an instant.

bhul chuk muaf
