New Delhi: Apathy on the part of the state government forced over 30 Dalits to embrace Sikhism in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The conversions came in protest against the administration's refusal to grant permission to take out a procession on the occasion of birth anniversary of religious leader Sant Ravidas.

"32 Dalits in Harora constituency embraced Sikhism on Sunday at Pawta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh and have returned to the village," PTI quoted head of Khalsa Religion Prachar Sewa Society, Jathedar Narendra Singh Khalsa, as saying.

The Dalits belong to Sadakdudhli village in Harora Assembly constituency of BSP leader Mayawati.

This is good ......but there are few things on part of us that need to be done:

1) Make a gurdwara sahib at their village and sewadars, gyanis should be sent from panjab who know hindi as well.

2) Feed them with meaning of gurbani, sikh ideology.

3) Teach them gurmukhi, panjabi, gatka etc

This wud ensure they convert to Sikhism rather than hindufied version of sikhism that's what a lot of sikhs in india are following.
