Waheguru ji ka khalsa

Waheguru ji ki fateh

SikhGiving is financially helping another Sikh Patient and his family to cope with their medical cost of approx. $350 a month. Due to lack of funds we were sending less money earlier (as two or three sewadars are sending from their pocket without asking anything from sangat). The family went to the point of where Jaswinder's dad, Sohan Singh had to sell his cycle in order to cover the cost. Somehow this news spread out in the public that a Sikh Organization is helping Sohan Singh's family. After that, their local Christian group came with an offer to Sohan Singh's family that they can cover his child's entire medical expense for 2 to 3 years. All they were asked to do is come to the church and they will be given the money, and that everything will be taken care of in the hospital/dispensary. Sohan Singh went to the Church feeling that he will be given money as goodwill by the church.

When he went inside, he was taken by the church official to attend a special ceremony which was to adopt Christianity as his religion. Sohan Singh and his family are from deeply Sikh religious background. He was given instructions by them that if they want to get the financial support then he has to follow the ceremony rules which indirectly was to leave Sikhism and adopt their religion. Sohan Singh left the church immediately after he found that in their instructions he was told to eat Parshad of Christ (which was meat).

SikhGiving never thought that this would be happening to someone in Punjab who is in need of help. Instead of helping a needy person, they are making him to do something which he and his family doesn't want to do. It was direct hit at us showing that Sikhs in Punjab can't help each other and others are lending hand to help them but with strings attached. We don't know but eventually to save his child's life a father can do anything and we don't want that to be happening to our brother Sohan Singh and his family. If you can help, please contact us and find how we can help Jaswinder Singh. If 30 of SikhSangat members can donate roughly $10 a month that will help this family to cover the medical cost of their son.

Please tell your relatives and your friends to donate monthly for this cause. We don't expect this to be a one time donation but a recurring donation collecting maximum of $350 a month for few months and later on it will reduce to $200 to $250 a month. If you can donate, please do so generously. Details are published online @ http://www.SikhGiving.com/liveprojects.html

^^ Thanks for sharing this info. As i said before you guys should try to get a permanent account for sikhgiving, i know it'll ask for an extra effort but that will give you guys some extra cash for immediate use. You are doing a great seva folks. Keep it up

Thank you for posting the letter written by Jaswinder's father.

Lets contirbute folks. Sikhgiving has asked for $10 from 30 members everymonth, i know we can do more then that but lets have some members who can do that regularly. Bhai Sohan Singh has shown the strength and we should do as much as possible for this family.

ps: Do you guys know anything about their source of income? Who is the breadwinner? Do they have money to support other members in the family?

Lets Donate Guyssssssssss!

The forum software does have support for a subscription package, i belive you can configure it so that members who have subscribed can access a cetain forum which would be invisible to all others, although this wouldnt be a core requirement. Maybe we could have a monthly subscription which will allow all paying members to see how much money has been raised, where the money is going etc.

i shall dicuss it with the other admins.
