Fateh! I'm having trouble with the meaning of one tuk (below in purple), does anyone know what it means?

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥

The Blessed Vision of Your Darshan is unapproachable and incomprehensible; he alone obtains it, who has such good destiny recorded upon his forehead.

ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥

The Merciful Lord God has bestowed His Mercy, and the True Guru has granted the Lord's Name. ||1||

ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਉਧਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥

The Divine Guru is the Saving Grace in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.

ਮਲ ਮੂਤ ਮੂੜ ਜਿ ਮੁਘਦ ਹੋਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਲਗੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Even those fools and idiots, stained with feces and urine, have all taken to Your service. ||1||Pause||

ਤੂ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

You Yourself are the Creator, who established the entire world. You are contained in all.

ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਭ ਪਈ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਇ ॥੨॥

The Righteous Judge of Dharma is wonder-struck, at the sight of everyone falling at the Lord's Feet. ||2||

ਸਤਜੁਗੁ ਤ੍ਰੇਤਾ ਦੁਆਪਰੁ ਭਣੀਐ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਊਤਮੋ ਜੁਗਾ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

The Golden Age of Sat Yuga, the Silver Age of Trayta Yuga, and the Brass Age of Dwaapar Yuga are good; but the best is the Dark Age, the Iron Age, of Kali Yuga.

ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪਕੜੀਐ ਕਿਸੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥

As we act, so are the rewards we receive; no one can take the place of another. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਿ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਏਹੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ॥

O Dear Lord, whatever Your devotees ask for, You do. This is Your Way, Your very nature.

ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਅਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸੁ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪੦॥

With my palms pressed together, O Nanak, I beg for this gift; Lord, please bless Your Saints with Your Vision. ||4||5||140||

Some Sikhs do not believe in Kaljug. They believe kaljug and satjug is a state of mind. Where deeds are good, there is satjug, where bad its kaljug. So the words have been redefined as many others in gurbani. This is something some people do not believe in and say its radical. Whatever you believe in phen jee, the most important essence of this shabad is that a gursikh is carefree from kaljug. Because of Guru jee how can this be kaljug? We have nothing to worry about if we follow the gurus instructions, therefore guru jee is saying why call this kaljug when so many gursikhs are doing your simran or the khalsa walks the earth upholding the truth. In the same way a Gursikh is not interested in heavon and hell, a gursikh is not interested in different ages. Guru jee is saying why do we think this is age of kaljug when Waheguru resides in all (in other words kaljug is not bad, the lord resides in all, therefore by referance to kaljug we are calling people bad, guru jees message is: Sabh maih jot jot hai soee, tis di chanan sabh maih chanan hoee), rather we should be worried about our own deeds. The following is based on Prof Sahib Singh jees translation.

O' unapproachable Lord, the human with these organs (body eyes etc) cannot reach you (do darshan). Only that mortal can do your darshan who has good destiny written on their forehead. (O'bhai on that person whose) mercyful lord has bestowed his mercy, the true guru grants the lords name (the gift of simran).

O'satguru, you have even saved in kaljug (which out of the other ages is supposed to be considered to be the worse) even those fools, dirty (stained with) urine all have come within your service (by listening to you they do service to the lord and meditate on the lord) Pause.

O' Lord, you yourself are the creator who established this whole creation, you give hope to this creation, you reside within the creation (then how can there be a good age? or a bad age? Even though they say kal jug is the worst of the four ages, even then:) Daram raj is wonder stuck (because by the gurus mercy, people turn away from the flaws) and people are falling at your feet (So if we consider the old beliefs, we have to say that this age is infact not bad, in this age people are doing good deeds)

O' bhai, in satjug, in treta and in duapar these were said to be the good ages. (but in fact the truth which can be seen is that) kaljug out of all the ages is the best. In this age, as we act so are the rewards we recieve. a mortal because of another (the flaws of another) does not wander.

O' Bhai, (whichever age it may be, you always protect the honour of your bhagats) you do whatever your bhagats ask from you, this has been your nature from old and ancient times. O' lord (your servant Nanak also) with both hands folded (at your door) be for this gift, that you bless your saints with darshan.

Bhai sahib singh is not guru for sikhs.His translation is as he thinks from his perception.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!! 
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
