Saadh Sangat jee,

Does anyone know the technical term for Sarbloh in English? Is it simply pure iron or is it wrought iron or something else? Like what our kakkars should be made of if trying to explain the metal in English.

All iron. I used to think it meant pure iron, but that's not what singhs of old used as iron can only be purified 100% in a lab so its basically low carbon steel if you want to be technical.

The closest I came to the definition of what Sarbloh is, is Wrought Iron which is "commercially pure iron. In contrast to steel, it has a very low carbon content" (Wikipedia - Wrought iron).

I think thats probably what it is unless some other Singhs/Kaurs have more information?

pure iron isn't solid

its just dust, i think

cant make anything out of it

another good loha is kamani loha

a lot of taksaal kirpaans are made with it now

our shaster, which we bought from taksal are kamani loha as well, real shiny, and good quality too

wrought iron is tooooo soft for weapons, sarbloh is more close to cast iron, which contains roughly 5% carbon, but thing is in praatan times they werent able to measure it lol so its not exact, like i said its just very low carbon steel.
