By "jhaga" do you mean shirt? Could you please clarify your query.

sorry probably wasnt clear enough. By jhaga i mean the little buildings you see next to the road (or whereeva) that are for your ancestors (shaeed singh) that have passed away in your family.

i know this is against sikhi as have heard katha on it but alot of families have em?

the owner of the thread is talking about "Jatherey"... its the place where someone from your old generation or from your cast and surname passed away or something like that..... people used to make a place "known as madi or kabar" and then the people from the same surname go there and do matha tek and stuff....

this is totally against sikhi...

please dont go to these place and do matha tek.... doing matha tek to these places means you are turning your back towards guru ji....

the reason why ppls made these places are simply they dont have faith in sikhi and dont beleive that guru ji capable to anything and everything. these people tend to go to dera like ram rahim and have no knowledge, love and understanding of the sikh religion.

as said above, these have nothing to do with sikhi, and Shri guru gobind singh ji has clearly says in his bani (twe parshaad swaye patshahee 10):

kaahoo lai paahan pooj dhharayo sir kaahoo lai li(n)g garae lattakaaeiou ||

Some worship idols by putting those on their heads; some dangle lingam (Phallic symbol of Shiva) from their necks.

kaahoo lakhiou har avaachee dhisaa mehi kaahoo pashhaah ko sees nivaaeiou ||

Some believe Hari (God) to be stationed south direction others prostrate to the west, (Considering Allah's presence there).

kooo buthaan ko poojath hai pas kooo mrithaan ko poojan dhhaaeiou ||

Many fools worship images in the temples whereas others dash to worship graves or cemeteries.

koor kriaa ourajhiou sabh hee jag seer bhagavaan ko bhaedh n paaeiou || 10||30||

All human beings in the world are entangled in false and ungodly ceremonies and none has found God's secret. (10)(30)

but the sad thing is that when we go to punjab and look into the green fields... you can see these type of "madi or kabar called jatherey". they are so many... anything in the fields with little room and a small flag outside is nothing else but someonce jatherey....

hope this answers your question...

sorry to be a pain but im trying to understand this in more depth, are these spirits which havent got a space and roam around etc? My family has this type of 'madi' and hold an akhand path there every yr, but reading about this in sikhi ive established this type of thing is wrong. BUT - why so many of these types of places in the punjab - must be some type of reason why people have acknowledged to build this for their ancestors? Thanks in advance

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

I also have a 'Jaggah' of my ancestors in my pind. However in my mind it is verfied as 'Shaheedan Di Jaggah'.

I would not like to brag but i am in love with Sikhi and probably not like a normal girl my age i don't go out wearing small kapreh, clubbing or anything like that. I'd personally rather go Gurdwara everyday and do sewa:D:D. Anyways my taye ji like does alot of sewa at that 'Jaggah' and she started getting a 'pehra' (ancestoral spirit inside her), and she also infact predicted my brother's birth. She came to England and seen how at a young age a do so n so and paint portraits, wright poems about Sikhi. And she said to my mother that tell her to stop doing 'Parth' because she will start getting a 'pehra' at a really young age. Apparently even the slightest person they feel has got alot of lov 4 Guru Maharaaj, they visit them. I am not going to be biased but i i have infact felt a vibe and seen men with 'white choleh and white dastarr'. I've been told by my mother that when i get scared i should rememba 'Jathereh' from the 'Jaggah', they are there to protect me but have also been told by Babaji at Baba Vadbhag Singh Ji Gurdwara(bedworth, Coventry) that when i get scared i should read the Chaupai Sahib. So i decided okay fair enough, just like 2 weeks after i got so scared and believe it or not i was on the phone and i said, 'look i can see something running towards me'. I started getting really scared and i remembered what babaji said so i put the phone down, started saying Chaupai Sahib out aloud. Honest to God it felt like someone was breathing right infront of my face. I started panicing but carried on doing Chaupai Sahib, then when i finished and say, 'Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh'. I opened my eyes and i seen feet walking away from me in a semectrical way outwards ) ( < like that, just seeing the seam of a 'cholah'.

This so far in life was the biggest life time experience!!

But was wondering, were they actually 'Jathereh' or just my mind playing tricks. But i was definate i seen something running towards me because i blinked my eyes about 20times 2 see and it was surely there.

Can anyone explain what that might have been please..

Thankyou,

Deep Kaur

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
