Formed in 1984, the Bajrang Dal shot to prominence during the Ayodhya movement as the VHP's stormtrooper wing. Very visible on December 6, 1992, it was banned after the Babri Masjid's demolition.

Unlike other Sangh affiliates, the Dal is not under RSS control. Only Vinay Katiyar has graduated to Parliament. The core remains the urban underclass.

Post-Ayodhya, the Bajrangis have been crusaders in search of a crusade. Completely localised they have latched on to issues like cow protection and battling beauty contests.

Gujarat is probably the only state where the Dal can boast of a committed cadre and tight organisation. Elsewhere, as in Orissa, it has become the platform of every variety of outlaw.

The father of modern Hindu Nationalist chauvnism in Gandhi. Gandhi was openly against conversion of Hindus by the christian missionaries but declared Hinduism as an ocean which can be complete only when it has absorbed all other religions. He was pretty clear wasn't he? He was a militant who used non-violence mass protest as a militant weapon again the British. Gandhi and BJP both share same views with regard to missionaries - not acceptable.

During the recent violence due to Amarnath shrine in Kashmir very well known turbaned Sikh Navjot Sidhu was at the forefront leading an attack on a Mosque in Amritsar. He is BJP MP. These guys are naqli Sikhs, maharaj is watching everything and Dharamraaj has an account prepared for them to answer, they won't go un-punished by God and Guru.

Yeah Apne I agree they wont go unpunished - in fact the guy bhupinder singh was killed preparing the bomb along with the other hindu bajrang dal guy - justice served !!
