Universe Or Universes?

Can someone explain the concept of a 'Universe' to me...

And do you think that there are other 'Universes' that exist?

well from wht i ve learned this class this sem... astronomy and cosmology.... universe is a collection of infinite galaxies... galaxies can further be contained with solar systems and planets.... if u were to assume tht theory of relativity and spacetime dominates our universe ... which actually it does... then there is a good chance scientifically that we might even have multiple universes... but all this follows gurbani coz wt i ve learned all these discoveries tht even the universe and spacetime is expanding were proved by gurbani way before ..... and i believe there is a good reason why is it so

There are nether worlds beneath nether worlds, and hundreds of thousands of heavenly worlds above. paataalaa paataal lakh aagaasaa aagaas.

I've searched for the word "Paataal" and various different translations give various different definitions for it. Can you clarify what it actually means? Thank you. =)

In the Domain of Truth (oneness with the Lord), the Lord becomes manifest in the devotee. The Lord watches His Creation with Merciful glances of Grace. In this realm, the devotee witnesses countless universes, worlds, and spheres. There are universes upon universes. The creatures act, as He directs them. The Lord beholds His creation and is pleased in contemplating about them. Nanak says: it is too hard, as steel, to describe. (37)

Which word refers to Universe above? Is it Mandal or Varbhand?

Yes, you are right. Science is discovering the 'facts' which our Shabad Guru has already has told us and keeps on telling us, in the hope that maybe one day we will actually heed what he says and merge with the 'Source'. We should be thankful to have such a 'Guru'. We are so blessed to have him.

I think it was in a science and sikhi type document that I read about how sikhi regards the universe as a bubble and that all the 'verses exist side-by-side like soap bubbles do.

patal lok is the underworld or netherworld,

it is not necessarily a negative place as bhagats, siddhs, kinnars, gandarvs etc can be found there

it does not necessarily include hell either,

patal is like a purely tamogun place it is depicted as being a dark forest

below mount Meru though it is more spiritual than our world.
