We should also add that the govt. made excuses that 'terrorism' as they called it would still continue if they didn't crack down on all Sikhs, however there were no attempts made on finding a solution in a non-violent manner on the part of the GOI, they carried out actions on impulse with little strategy behind and using inhumane tactics hence the mass censorship to cover up all the meaningless killings and nasty immoral tactics used...

To OP... for those who can't understand the moral issues surrounding Bluestar, what is the explanation for all of the villagers in Panjab being harassed, many of them being tortured, killed and no reasoning given to families, what is the reasoning behind unequal policies regarding land ownership within Panjab, this surely isn't just against 'terrorism' (which GOI called it) but is against democracy, why is that still today a resident in Panjab has no protective rights, has no policy by which they can purchase land in another region... ONE reason, in order to try and kill of Sikhi the government carried out every tactic directed at Panjab in order to stop the religion and its establishments prospering... IF they only had a problem with Sant Jarnail Singh and his followers surely they could have aimed their strategies solely at him, they chose not to and in turn knew that Panjab is heavily influenced by Sikhi therefore they put sanctions and restrictions on most of Panjab, democracy a political system in which the supreme power lies in the hand of the citizens in an equal, fair and non-interventional manner.... India a democracy?... I don't think so!

playing devil's advocate:

why did they feel it necessary to fortify the complex? It obviously didn't take them a few minutes and was a planned thing.

We should not be afraid to ask questions as to why they felt it necessary to fortify the house of God?? ... the only logical answer is that they fully realised that there would be an onslaught and they would need to be protected??

Didn't you just answer your own question?

"fully realised that there would be an onslaught and they would need to be protected??"

ok but the very fact that it had to be fortified suggests that those inside the complex knew of the upcoming battle/onslaught. And this begs the question - if they knew, they should have taken the battle outside and preserved the sanctity of the Gurughar.

Stop with the Ghulam (slave) mentality thinking, veera. Why are you siding with the terrorists?

- If you had intelligence saying the White House were going to be attacked, would you refuse to defend it? (The White House has surface-to-air missiles installed for its defense.)

- The terrorists said they wanted SJS Bhindrawale, but if so, they could have just killed them with a sniper on June 1, when they were still holding court on the langar rooftop, in plain view.

- During the attack on the Askhardham Hindu temple in Gandhinagar, Gujurat, and the Taj Hotel, Bombay, the GOI never, ever considered blowing up the whole buildings! The difference with 1984 was that the entire operation was conceived to terrorise a population, not to flush out some rogue elements.

Every Gurdwara Sahib should be a fort.

During the misle period where Sri Nishaan Sahib flew people came for sanctury, help and free food, fleeing the invaders.

Even today Gurdwaras should be a fort with plenty of shastar in case of wars, riots, etc which can happen at any time.

Certain Mahapursh in india have built Gurdwaras Sahibs where the surrounding walls are so thick to absord tank fire and circumferance large enough to accomodate the whole village.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
