Questions For Amritdharis

I have two points.

Firstly, as someone who is clearly well disciplined and righteous, don't you think it is part of your duty to socialise with so called 'bad people' and help them see the rightpath. Isolating yourself is an indication that you are a self-centred soul who is religous solely to benefit himself and not society at large. I don't think that is what sikhism is about.

Secondly, why do you have an AK47 as your image? Do you think this is clever? This is a weapon that has been used in the murder of millions of innocent people around the world.

i think ur first point it is wicked but damn ur second one isnt.. ak47s also PROTECTED people around the world. and it is also seen as a shastar to some!

I think 'damn' is a bit strong. Yes, it is a weapon ( or as you call it...a shashtar) and yes, it does protect people too. My concern is that some misguided young men may think it is cool and macho to display such things - in the manner that gangsters display such symbols. If you wish to display such shashtar, what is wrong with the shashtar of our gurus?

These qoute from Guru Granth Sahib will explain what you dont think Sikhi is about. Yes you help them with being a good example but "hanging out" with them will only be like rubbing black ash on your face.

saakath sang n keejee piaarae jae kaa paar vasaae ||

As far as possible, do not associate with the faithless cynics, O Beloved.

jis miliai har visarai piaarae suo muhi kaalai outh jaae ||

Meeting with them, the Lord is forgotten, O Beloved, and you rise and depart with a blackened face.

kaam krodhh sangath dhurajan kee thaa thae ahinis bhaago ||1|| rehaao ||

Sexual desire, anger and the company of evil people - run away from them, day and night. ||1||Pause||

mehalaa 5 ||

kabeer chaaval kaaranae thukh ko muhalee laae ||

Kabeer, for the sake of the rice, the husks are beaten and threshed.

sang kusangee baisathae thab pooshhae dhharam raae ||2||

When one sits in the company of evil sangat, then he will be called to account by the Righteous Judge of Dharma. ||2||

(edited to add an uppercase "g" in Guru Granth Sahib)
