Pir Bhikhan Shah Heralds the Birth of a Prophet

The Parkash of Guru Gobind Singh Ji

Pir Bhikhan Shah was a devout Muslim religious leader. He lived in village Thaska in District Karnal (now in Haryana). He was a Sayyid (a descendent of Hazrat Muhammed), which commands great respect among Muslims.

Every day this man of God would do Sijda (bowing) towards Mecca in West. But one day, in the cold month of Poh, he bowed with profound reverence toward the East.

His followers accosted him, and asked the reason for not bowing in the Qiblah (the direction of Mecca). The Peer replied that a beloved of Allah has been born in the East who will destroy evil and fight for truth and virtue.

This was none other than the son of Mata Gujri, Sahibzada Gobind Rai.

The Peer journeyed all the way to Patna to see the new star, which is no mean feat, considering he travelled 1000 km, all without our modern conveniences.

Once he arrived, no one wanted to let him see the newborn, since they didn't know his intentions (and everybody probably remembered the attempts to kill the baby's grandfather Guru Hargobind Ji when the latter was born).

After he was finally allowed to see the child prodigy, he placed two pots of milk before him. The Peer had a question in his mind as to whether the new prophet would favour the Hindus or the Mussalmans. The pots represented the two communities.

The child prodigy placed one hand on one pot, and the other on the other pot. This signifies that, in the Prophet's mind, Hindus and Muslims are equal. This delighted the Peer, who explained this to his followers.

Then the child wonder performed another deed. He pushed both pots. The milk from both overturned pots ran together. This signifies the new Prophet's desire to unite the warring communities into one.

Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and blessed is the man God chose to be Guru's herald.

I don't know of any other prophet who has written his own life. Guru Gobind Singh Ji has blessed us with an autobiography called Bachittar Natak (The Wonderful Play).

In it, Guru Sahib discusses the reason for God sending Guru Ji to this world. The previous prophets had failed in causing praise to be done of God, and instead had done their own praise. Guru Sahib humbly asks for blessings from God in order to accomplish this mission.

Some extracts from Guru Gobind Singh Ji's autobiography:

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਯੋ ॥ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਯੋ ॥੨੭॥

He caused all to utter his name and did not give True Name of the Lord with firmness to anyone.27.

I have adopted you as my son and hath created you for the propagation of the path (Panth).

You go therefore for the spread of Dharma (righteousness) and cause people to retrace their steps from evil actions".29.

All i wanted to say was that the word prophet can be ''iffy'' because in theology proper a prophet just means a postman of god

who goes around relaying messages from God about the future , present etc etc . But Gurujee is way way way beyond that!!!!!!!!!

Apologies. I did not mean to make a doctrinal point by using using the English word Prophet. For the purposes of this thread, we can just say, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a prophet and much more.

One time at Paonta Sahib, Satguru was pronouncing the praises of God.

The God-imbued see God everywhere.

For Guru Gobind Singh Ji,

God is in the water, God is on the land.

God is in the heart, God is in the forest.

God is in the mountains, God is in the caves.

God is on the Earth, God is in the sky.

God is hither, God is thither.

God is on the land, God is in the heavens.

God is the water, God is the land.

You (God) are the stream, you are the ocean.

You are the tree, and you are the leaf.

You are the earth, and you are the heaven. (excerpted)

In the end Guru Sahib said:

There exists only you, only you.

Only you, only you. (Tuhi tuhi, tuhi tuhi)

Engrossed in the praise of the Almighty, Guru Ji kept saying these lines.

Upon awakening from samadhi, the scribe asked Guru Sahib for instructions as Satguru had said tuhi, tuhi 16000 times.

Guru Sahib said to simply write it 16 times in this beautiful composition in Lagu Niraj Chand.
