who is Ram Singh, i think ive heard people on internet and even in one post on here (which I cant find) that Ram Singh is self styled Jathedar of Damdami Taksal and also there is conspriacy that he drinks, but out of all that I have another overall question on present status of Ram Singh in the Panch Singh Saibhans

Bhai Ram Singh Ji is a very humble gursikh sevadaar of Taksal. They tend to avoid the limelight and prefer to continue their seva in a low-key manner.

Btw, they are the nephew of Sant Kartar Singh Ji and performed Granthi Singh seva at Darbar Sahib.

Looking past the jathedaari issue, both Baba Harnam Singh and Bhai Ram Singh are gursikhs with a geniune desire to do seva. Various types of allegations and rumors

get started when we forget that at the end of the day both singhs are propagating Taksali maryada and helping to train future Parchariks, Granthi Singhs.

Yes I Have heard in news that he even went to some pinds in 2008 around september or so and talked about the Kurbani Of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale and said that they will expand in the Seva for getting youth to know more about Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Kurbani. My cousin told me a week later that Singhs went around Punjab Pinds and talked about Sant Ji and gave out posters and promised to go to every pind in punjab

Dhumma's nomination causes split in Damdami Taksal

The 300-year-old Sikh seminary — Damdami Taksal — witnessed a split once again following the nomination of Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma (36), a US citizen, as the successor of Baba Thakur Singh, six days before Baba Thakur Singh's antim ardas.

Baba Dhumma had settled in the USA in early nineties when militancy in Punjab was at its peak.

Baba Ram Singh, a former priest of Golden Temple, however, claimed that he was the "real Jathedar", as Baba Thakur Singh himself had given him "Dastar" (turban) and nominated him as the 15th Jathedar of the Taksal on June 17 last year in the USA. Baba Ram Singh and family members of Sant Kartar Singh Bhinderanwale (predecessor of Sant Jarnail Bhinderanwale), including Bhai Manjit Singh and Bhai Tarlochan Singh, president All-India Sikh Students Federation, openly supported Baba Ram Singh. They said a parallel antim ardas would be held at Gurshabad Parkash Gurdwara, at Sangrai village, Batala, instead of Chowk Mehta, as they don't want any confrontation.

The gurdwara would be the parallel headquarters of the breakaway group of the Taksal. The ideological difference between both would be that the breakaway group believed that Sant Bhinderanwale had died in Operation Bluestar, as stated by Akal Takht and the SGPC, while the Taksal (Chowk Mehta) would continue to keep the myth of Baba Thakur Singh that Sant Bhinderanwale was still alive for some more time.

The split in Damdami Taksal has come after 35 years. Earlier, after the death of Sant Gurbachan Singh, his successor Sant Kartar Singh had shifted from the actual headquarters — Bhindera to Chowk Mehta in 1969. Though Sant Mohan Singh was given "Dastar" by the family of Sant Gurbachan Singh, the Chowk Mehta became the mainstream Taksal. Baba Ram Singh and his supporters claim that Gurdwara Gurshabad would become "real headquarters" of Damdami Taksal as in the past.

He showed pictures of Baba Thakur Singh presenting "Dastar" and his signed statement. The eyewitness to this ceremony when "Dastar" was presented to Baba Ram Singh in the USA, including Baba Dharm Singh, Bhai Mukhtiyar Singh and Raagi Sarwan Singh (all from USA) who had specially flown here, said that Baba Thakur Singh had never backed out from his decision. They alleged that certain Taksal leaders, having vested interests, had held Baba Thakur Singh in "captivity" and spread a rumour that he (Bhai Ram Singh) was never nominated as his successor .

The decision to nominate Baba Harnam Singh as successor of Baba Thakur Singh, even before the antim ardas has raised many eyebrows. Sources pointed out that this step had to be taken in the wake of moves of certain lobbies. Baba Ram Singh and his supporters alleged that the "back door" nomination of Baba Harnam Singh had created suspicion in the minds of Sikh Sangat, as no Sikh institution was taken into confidence. Today, "Dastar" was given to Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma by the "five beloved ones" including Bhai Jaswant Singh, Bhai Mal Singh — both priests of Golden Temple, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Bhai Gurdip Singh and Bhai Gurjit Singh Jagadhri. Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode, a former Jathedar of Akal Takht was also present on the occasion.

The congress wants to come back in power and use Ludhiana Khaand as an excuse against badal, but inside they don't care, for god sake they are backed by rss, shiv sena and they wanted support from lucha choota sauda. I am ashamed most of the Gurdwaras are run bu sgpc. The cash from Golden Temple goes to badal and he uses it also. It Takes a Collective Effort of Khalsa to Rule! And The Entire Body of Khalsa Has to Be Made Up of Individual Khalsa! (Each Has To Be Khalsa!!) So Basically; Each Has to Be The Best Khalsa They Can Be! And Then Collectively Get Together!

It is Suppose to Be Run with the Principles of Khalsa Dharma! But Politicians Have Hi-Jacked In the Guise of Dharma! So The Time Will Come When All the Wrong is Cleansed!

In Punjab and India, Badals and Congress and Other Political Parties Have Used Their Police and Military Might and Resources (Including Theft of Guru Sahibs' Golak!) to Mentally, Emotionally, Physically Etc. Attack Sikhs! But Now The New Generations (From Outside India and Inside India as Well) are Training! True Khalsa are Training in Dharma!!

Then Collectively with The Spirit of Khalsa, Khalsa Will Rise and Rule! The Energies of The Khalsa Outside India Will Energize the Khalsa Inside India! And The Collective Positive Spirit of Khalsa will Feed Off Each Other (Spirit Has No Bounds); and Khalsa Will Take Over Again What Belongs to Khalsa!

150 Taksal members join Ram Singh group

Nearly 150 activists of the Damdami Taksal headed by Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma yesterday joined the parallel Taksal headed by Baba Ram Singh.

Addressing mediapersons here, Baba Ram Singh, a former priest of the Golden Temple, said the Taksal activists had accepted him as 16th Jathedar of Taksal. He paraded 25 persons before the media to prove his point.

Bhai Balwant Singh, the leader of the breakaway group, said Baba Dhumma, who claimed himself to be the Jathedar, was a government-appointed person. He claimed that Baba Dhumma organised "havans" in the Taksal that were against Sikh tenets.

He alleged that Baba Dhumma was involved in the arrest of various persons close to them, including those arrested from Bathinda last month for their alleged allegiance with Jagtar Singh Hawara, chief of the Babbar Khalsa International. Baba Ram Singh, accompanied by the vice-president of the SAD, Bhai Manjit Singh, said the government was hell-bent on destroying the harmony of the state. He claimed the government had arrested 800 Sikh youths in the name of associates of Hawara. He said he would provide all assistance, including legal aid, to the arrested persons.
