Amrit Vela Parking Ticket!

Recommended Posts

True Story: A couple weeks ago I was told by a friend about a simran program that takes place every morning @ 3:30am. I googled the directions and saw that I would have to leave by 3:00am to reach the Gurdwara Sahib on time. I put my alarm on for 2:30, Recited Kirtan Sohila and went to sleep. As you can see I was too lazy to do ardas be4, I just went to sleep like an animal!

The next Morning the Alarm rang I pressed snooze once and then I just turned the alarm off altogether::: You know how when ur mind comes up with excuses to why its okay to go back to sleep, thats Maya’s illusion rite there, makin us believe in the dream and forget the reality of this world,

So being the Kaljugi Jeev I am, I went back to sleep and I totally missed amrit vela,

Fareed, the hours of the day are lost wandering around, and the hours of the night are lost in sleep.

God will call for your account, and ask you why you came into this world. ||38||

That Morning I had to go Pick Sumone up and it was raining outside, so I quickly ran to my car and shut the door. I parked my car on the road last night so that it would be easier for me to go to the Gurdwara instead of having to move my brothers car.

So im driving its raining and the wippers are going and after 10 mins I notice theres a ticket on my window~(ur not alowed to park on the side of the road at night)! "<banned word filter activated>!!" "I just got my license damn im done! my parents are gonna kill me! I am So irresponsible argh, ,,,what if they take away my driving privlegdges becuz i am such an <banned word filter activated>!"- the thoughts going thru my mind as I drive,,

When I parked at my destination, I got out of the car and I grabbed the wet ticket as I waited for the person who I was picking up,

And guess what time i got that parketing violation ticket!!!!!!

3:30am----------->>the time i was suppose to be at the gurdwara for simran!!

Maharaj has given me a fine! im a tankhiya!!,, This incident made me me realize how much i am suffering spiritually without Amrit Vela, Im a tankhiya everyday when I sleep thru Amrit Vela,

I am a disgrace! how can I call myself ur daughter? :( im a kuputhri--i follow my manmat--i have not sacrificed nething, how can i say i love u if i cant even give up my love for sleep?

im such a janvar (animal) All i car about is sleep and food, while my poor soul gets hushed over and over again to the point I dont hear that voice inside me anymore, My EGO has taken over—Oh the PAIN!

Oh man sumone slap me more, becuz I keep falling asleep--my mind is asleep to Guru Sahibs Teachings, I need to wake up!

Wake up, O mind! Wake up! Why are you sleeping unaware?

That body, which you were born with, shall not go along with you in the end. ||1||Pause||

Mother, father, children and relatives whom you love,

will throw your body into the fire, when your soul departs from it. ||1||

Your worldly affairs exist only as long as you are alive; know this well.

O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; everything is like a dream. ||2||2||

Waheguru! This is so inspiring. I used to wake up at Amritvehla everyday and then I got lazy and stopped. Then I decided to start again but I just couldnt. I would wake up at like 6:30 or something and realize that I missed Amritvehla. One day, my mom told me to wash her clothes, I decided to put an Alarm on my phone named "Laundry" set to 3:30 pm because I was out of the house when she told me and I was sure I would forget about it. The alarm rang at 3:30 pm and I recall deleting it from my phone. At night I did ardas and went to sleep. I didnt even set my alarm to Amritvehla hours and suddenly in the middle of the night my phone starts ringing loudly. I ran outside to the living room because I had left my phone there the previous night and I didnt want the phone to wake everyone up. And when I saw the time it was 3:30 am, and the name was "Laundry." I was shocked. It was Guru Ji's way of telling me to wake up. I never told anyone but my grandma and she agreed that it was a way of Guru Ji's kirpa.

It is true you take one step toward Guru Ji and he takes several steps towards you. smile.gif

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
