Evolution Of The Nihang Singhs

Recommended Posts

here we go again...not answering the questions put forward...we have nothing but respect and admiration for the puraatan nihungs..their sacrifices in the past were unmatched...but we are not speaking about the nihangs of old..we are speaking about the nihangs of today...they are a shadow of their former self...and as a whole they failed us during the movement..yes a few did fight against the government..but a few is not enough..if the whole dal panth fought..we would have khalsa raj today in punjab no doubt!....they left the panth in its time of need and because of that it has badly hampered their reputation

Have we ever analysed the situation of Nihungs today. They have been put in a very miserable situation by SGPC taking almost all

Gurudawras from them. They have been relegated to a position of no importance and left to make both ends meet.

Inspite of this they have retained old traditions of sikhism and knowledge of scriptures. They have contributed in sikh struggle and were

second to none. Baba Nihal singh was the most trusted advisor of Sant jarnail singh Bhindrewale.

Nihungs are in a very miserable plight todaY WITHOUT RESOURCES. It is duty of right thinking sikhs to help to preserve their customs.

If someone need help Nihungs come on top.

what rubbish!!!

Buddha Dal made a fortune in 1984, they were getting 1 lakh rupees every day they were doing sarkar sewa. With this money they set up their own school, a factory, and bought a lot of land in Patiala.

B4 84, they were I agree short of money, but so were most samprdayes.

\Budha Dal do not represent Nihungs in entirety. There are many more Nihung dals who have no connection with Budha Dal

and they lead their traditional style rather than indulging in politics like Budha Dal chief.

Their present chief is more in politics than in religion.

baba nihal singh is a true khalsa...im a great admirer of him...but why is you keep ignoring my question...why didnt the vast majority of nihansg fight during the movement?...with their numbers and wreckless courage we could of got khalistan quite quickly...why did they leave mostly young rural sikh males to fight against the government forces?..why did they not follow bhai avtar singh ji bhramas example?...why did they remain idle during the movement?

and why do they still remain in good relation with the opressive indian government?...could you imagine the nihungs of old being friendly with ahmed shah abdali after he blew up harmandir sahib?

Because the movement was led by others. It was akalis who started this and then it spilled to Sant jarnail singh ji.

Just because Santa singh hobnobbed with Govt, it is unfair to blame all other Nihungs.Baba Nihal singh was locked up

and underwent inhuman torture.

im not talking about the the movement of pre 1984..im talking about the armed struggle which began in 1986...where did the laadlia fauja of dasmesh pita go when young sikh males were fighting the opressive forces of india?

You have named Avtar singh Brahma yourself. Who was he ? He was one of the ladlian Faujan.

There were many more who had attachment to Nihung jathebandis but were not touting their

attachments. They did not wear that on their arms. They sacrificed in true sikh style. There were some

in the movement criticizing and abusing Baba Jarnail Singh ji terming him agent of Govt. They changed

their tune when he stood like a true sikh and fought to death.

You need not be sarcastic and harsh on one jathebandi and especially those who are preserving sikh traditions

and sikh scriptures.Let us avoid this negativity as sikhi is above this.

Please read the book "fighting for faith and nation" where the author has interviewed many of the warriors who fled to Canada afterwards. Its an inspirational read that would make any sikh proud.

By reading their stories and narrations one truely realises that they are the Banda Singh Bahadur and Baba Deep Singh of this age.
