IF VEDANTI CAN'T TAKE ACTION AGAINST CHELA RAM, HE SHOULD RESIGN: SHABAAZ KHALSA

PANTHIC WEEKLY NEWS BUREAU | Published on September 13, 2006

Amritsar Sahib (KP) The panthic organization, Shahbaaz Khalsa, has asked Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti to tender his resignation if he cannot be impartial in his duties as a Jathedar. Shahbaaz Khalsa sevadars requested that if the Jathedar was having difficulty making decisions because of political influence from special interests, he should give up his much-respected Panthic position and return home.

Speaking at a press conference Bhai Sukhmander Singh, and Bhai Nirmaljeet Singh and others collectively expressed anguish and stated that they had brought to the attention of Jathedar Vedanti the ongoing beadbi [gross disrespect]of Guru Granth Sahib Ji being committed by Chela Ram.

They had supplied the Jathedar all the necessary evidence and details one year earlier. In addition, they had recently reminded Vedanti that the beadbi was still being committed by Chela Ram, but there has been no action taken by Vedanti while the disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib Ji continues unabated.

They stated that not only has their petition highlighting the misdeeds of Chela Ram been ignored by Joginder Singh Vedanti, but that on July 30th in an unprecedented act, two responsible workers of the Shiromani Committee, President Avtar Singh Makkar and Secretary Harbeant Singh were honored by the very same Chela Ram.

Shahbaaz Khalsa has asked Akal Takhat Sahib to relieve these two individuals of their duties without further delay and give them the strictest punishments. The three representatives of Shahbaaz Khalsa detailed that along with the prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, statues of Hindu gods were also being displayed by Chela Ram.

Another shocking revelation they made was that Chela Ram and his devotees, following in the footsteps of Bhaniraywala, have another granth from which they take a Hukamnama which is placed alongside Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This granth is said to be written by the ancestors of Chela Ram in praise of themselves.

They said that this is an enormous attack on Sikhi by Chela Ram. Meanwhile, he has also opened three deras in Delhi, Solan, and Mumbai. The Delhi dera is being run by Chela Ram himself, while his Solan dera and Mumbai deras are run by his daughter Radhika and his son respectively.

Along with damaging Sikhi, they are also doing the beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Shabaaz Khalsa representatives said that they have also brought several other similar cases to the attention of Vedanti but they have yet to receive a satisfactory response.

Chela Ram is a sindhi with his headquarters is in Solan, Himachal pardesh.

His main profession is sing kirtan and his whole family join with him. They

have their kirtan jatha that performs all over India and has toured many

countries especially Canada.

He does kirtan without any bheta. That leaves a very good impression about him.

It seems he is doing this as a business wherein he does not receive any money

for kirtan but sells sikh literature in return. He makes money from there.

This was observed by a Gurudwara management few years back in Canada.

They did not call him after they saw through his greed as they had high

impression about him for selfless kirtan.

This store seems to be his godown for storing SGGS ji, Gutkas and other literarture

without any respect. He had holy books of otehr religions as well. There are many more

in this profession who are doing beadbi of Guru Granth sahib. To name a few are book

publishers Jeevan Singh Chattar singh who were sending drugs packed in gurbani Gutkas

and were transporting SGGS birs without any maryada. They were caught a few years back.

Then there is Sarna gang controlling Delhi Gurudwaras who were exposed storing beers of

Guru Granth sahib without any maryada. They were exposed by panthic weekly.

Article from march 2010 - http://news.panthic.org/articles/5234

New Delhi (KP) – Controversy erupted at a Sindhi mandir operated by Lachman Chela Ram during the annual “Ram Navami” (birth celebration) when the organizers decided to do parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji alongside with Hindu idols and non-Sikh books in the same precincts.

Various Sikh organizations, including Shahbaaz Khalsa, discovered five saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji along with a copy of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and immeditaly removed these sacred Sikh Granths from the Sindhi temple premises and brought them over to Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib and another local Gurdwara Sahib in Delhi for Sukh-aasan.

Chela Ram and the Sindhi mandir has requested their return, but the Sikh Sangat has refused to do so due to the ongoning disrespect by these individuals.

To resolve this conflict, a high level meeting of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee with Lachman Chela Ram and representatives of various Sikh organizations was held.

The Sikhs insisted that idols and books such as the Gita, or Nirgun Granth can not be put in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, nor can any Hindu rituals be performed in Guru Sahib’s presence. Lachman Chela Ram declined to agree to those restrictions.

The Sikh Rahit Maryada forbids the installation of idols or non-Sikh scriptures in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

more on Chela Ram family

http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Bhai_Chella_Ram

Bhai Chella Ram

From SikhiWiki

Bhai CHelaram (1904-1964), a wellknown Sahajdhari Sikh of modern times who sang and preached gurbani, the Guru's inspired word, with a rare love and devotion, was born in a Sindhi family of Hyderabad (Sindh) on 3 May 1904, the son of Dr Tekchand Rachumal Mansukhani and ChetTbai. Chellaram's parents died while he was still in his infancy and his only sister not long afterwards. Successive deaths in the family left him a lonely youth, with a rather pensive mind. He took his degree in Law and set up practice as a lawyer, but his heart was not in the profession. He joined civil service which left him ample time for the study of religious books. Sikh Scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, took hold of his mind and he started reciting Sikh hymns in the Gurdwara at Karachi. He also taught children to recite kirtan, i.e. hymnsinging. Soon a group of devotees formed around him dedicated to namsimran, i.e. repetition of God's name. His growing popularity earned him the epithet of dada, the equivalent of baba in Punjabi (lit. grandfather), a term of respect for elderly or holy men. He was invited to perform kirtan at Sikh divans on special occasions in gurdwaras in the Punjab including those at Nankana Sahib and Amritsar. In 1938, Dada Chellaram Ashram was established in Karachi.

After the partition of the country in 1947, Dada Chellaram joined service in the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi and continued to reside there. In 1958, he established a religious centre Nij Thanu (lit. His own place). It is an eclectic institution where recitations from the Bible, the Gita, and the Qur'an are made side by side with those from the Guru Granth Sahib. Another institution in Delhi which owes its origin to Dada Chellaram is Nirguna Balak Satsarig Mandal. It has branches at Bombay, Pune and Saproon, near Solan in Himachal Pradesh. Dada Chellaram died at Delhi on 7 March 1964.

The following is in regards to a famous publisher of Gurbani in Amritsar.

http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/20080921/edit.htm

Things have degenerated to such an extent that heroin has been smuggled out concealed in packets of CDs and DVDs of Gurbani being sent abroad. A son of one of the owners of M/s Chhattar Singh-Jeewan Singh, a 133-year-old publishing house of Amritsar, was arrested on September 11 on the charge of sending heroin to Canada through a private courier. About 5 kg of heroin concealed in three packets of devotional material was seized by the DRI near Phagwara. Many publishing houses have been sending devotional material to foreign countries, especially Canada, the US and the UK.
