Who Is In The Sarbat Khalsa?

Recommended Posts

Recently i was watching Sri Dasam Granth Seminar part 30 where Swami Bramdev Ji is speaking and he mentions that 6 panths create the sarbat khalsa.

These are nihang singh, namdhari, sevapanthi, udasi, akali singh, nirmala and Swami Ji, says all there names.

What had me thinking was why did he say namdharis since they believe in more then our 10 Gurus.

Here is the clip

forward to 1 minute and 2 second

First understand the difference of giving respect to Ram Singh because of his actions from accepting him as a Satguru when he was not given this by Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji Maharaj.

Baba Deep Singh ji is respected by every Sikh. Bhai Mani Singh ji is respected by every Sikh. Baba Buddha ji is respected by every Sikh and not one of them claimed to be Guru or any Sikh gave them the title of Guru.

The word Muslim means submitting to God. And Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj pounds on the actions of the Muslims and calls them blind. The Brahmins called themselves high because of their names. Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj pounded on them. Calling yourself Naamdhari does not make you one.

You have no case to prove anything. You worship dead bodies and you will get your results.

Namdharis are a samprada. British tried to promote Baba Ram Singh ji as dehdhari guru despite the fact that he was proper Gursikh and denied being a guru. B/c he was in jail the propaganda worked and Namdharis kind of split from rest of panth over guru ship issue. In the past they did not have dehdhari gurus. Giani Tahkur Singh has mentioned that those sects which originally came from Sikhi and then split away from it will one day come back into the panth.

Sarbat Khalsa means all fractions of the Khalsa, which in todays world also would include Taksal, AKJ etc. etc.

What Baba ji mentions are the historical samprdayas. THe Naamdharis split of from the panth somewhere down the the lane but initially (and also till this day) they hold great knowledge in fields of exegesis, raag vidiya etc which has been lost by mainstream sikhism.

The terms "Nihang Singh" and "Akali Singh" have traditionally been used interchangeably, so I don't quite understand why Brahm Dev ji makes a distinction.

I have never seen any reference anywhere where it states that these 6 or actually 5 groups are required for a "Sarbat Khalsa".

Today if a Sarbat Khalsa was called, to be valid, it would have to include every Panthic organization that accepts Sri Akal Takht Sahib's authority, not just the above named groups.
