waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

Today there is a hurry to become a saint-soldier tyar bar tyar Khalsa and obtain Shastr Vidiyaa from self-proclaimed leaders. History tells us no Khalsa ceremony was complete without Dasam Granth. After Guru Gobind Singh the Khalsa was engaged in battles and was a matter of survival. Then came the Sikh rule which ended after the British take over. The British wanted to establish a Church in Amritsar and gained a following. Then big Sikh saints like Sant Attar Singh, Sant Karam Singh, Sant Jawala Singh, Sant Natha Singh baptised lakhs and lakhs of people into Khalsaism.

To become a saint is not a 1 minute job but takes alot of time and effort and patience - and it is needed very urgently for Sikhs in the western world. The time that is wasted over foolish debates, arguements, insecurity could be spent in immense meditation because all the resources are available. Baba Nand Singh did it in jungles and places like Dehradun when there were no roads to reach there. Why not become a leader yourself rather than relying on a someone else.

Depends where you live brother/sister.

Some more challenging areas to live in have more than enough purely sant types and need a lot more proficient sipahi types just to keep themselves safe.

It just demoralises everyone when Sikhs get shoved around the place and appear to be effete. Even puts Sikh girls off Sikh men as they appear to be less manly than other quoms.

I disagree because we are in a atomic age where knifes are used only for cooking. Unless you want to be drug addict or thug no area was safe for a saint until the saint made it safe. Time is also getting faster making the work difficult but it's not impossible.

Today cutting the hair is a big status among the Sikhs and a line has to be drawn and shown.

Sorry, you've totally lost me there?

I thought we were talking about a Sikhs ability to defend himself physically?

Looking @ SANT-SIPAHI word, Sant comes before Sipahi. Become sant first and then you become sipahi to fight with you inner self and Outer world too. Look @ Sant Shaheed baba Deep Singh ji. Babaji did Naam jap and learned gurbani and side by side learnt shaster vidiya. Only Sipahi cannot cut his head and fight in the battlefield with his head cut. this is done only by SANT SIPAHI.
