It seems Harinder Singh has been reading too many self help books and been

in touch with the likes of Todays Big american successes such as Dr.Covey

and Anthony Robbins. His lectures and his approach is very similar, however

this isn't all bad as it creates positive poeple and brings about positive

thinking and dynamics. However for A Gursikh these dynamics are enjoined

with naam as " Nanak Naam chardi kala" and not without it. As maskeen jee

once said the "paraayaa lekhaaiyaa" person can be the most devastating to

kaum or this world and these words continue to be true.We must be the only

kaum in the world that produces intellecutals they get hell bent

on changing our own traditions first before any other worldly contribution- what is the issue, why not just carry on doing

what you are doing, is it not reaping you rewards or what?

What these paraaya lekhaaiyaa people do is get to a certain stage and then say, 'Thats it, I know everything about Sikhi. And they start teaching it to others without even going indepth into Gurbani. They read on the surface and they attach their professoinal title from a different field, so they have that paraaya lekhaaiyaa presentation attracting others. It's majority of the times these business suit wearing people that miss the whole point of Gurbani and bring in this whole science base to explain Gurbani's message. These guys need to be put in one big nut house so they can teach each other and not affect rest of the sangat that wants to learn Gurbani as Gurbani.

As much as its not necessarily a bad thing to be one of these 'peraiye lekhaiye', when they begin distorting Gurbani or putting a different slant on it based on their understanding of it, that's when it begins to get dangerous. Obviously when someone disagrees with them they look down on such people with disdain, as if to say "You're a pendoo - what do you know?". The arrogance of some is unbelievable.

Being an academic (or even someone very well read) isn't something to shy away from - its just that you'd wish that 'apnay' wouldn't let it go to their heads.
