Punjabi Sikh Girls Plight

As a Sikh I am equal to any guy but as a punjabi, my brother shall always be better than me. I grew up as more of a Punjabi, than a Sikh but I still would fight for my equality. I was never tied down by the inequalities but at same time as a girl, I put my parents on a very high pedistole. Till this day I breakdown even at the thought of going against my parents, even for a good cause. I just can't see them hurt, even if they are wrong. As a Sikh I have many dreams of what I want to do for my panth but as a punjabi I am tied down by culture barriers. It would hurt my parents if I went against them and broke the culture barriers and I don't want to hurt them. I would rather slowly move forward in my life with my family, then create ill will. I can't help but wonder if I was a boy would they hold me back the same, have the same effect on me?

I might not be able to do much because I am scared of pushing buttons with my parents but I have many dreams. I would like to put them out there, so anybody in position to make them come true, can try.

  • Hiring or finding volunteers to gaurd to the widows colony. So they have protection when going to court dates and also people to keep the drugs out of the colony. Currently there are people that have fallen to the extent to giving drugs out for free to ruin the youth in widows colony. So something must be done to protect those that have already suffered so much.
  • Starting a similar effort to breast cancer awareness they have in the states. Not only does it raise awareness with all the people wearing clothing reminding themselves and others of breast cancer, it also raise funds to make a difference. If we can find some creative people to put togather a line of clothing to honor the victims of 1984 genocide, we can make sure it is never forgotten and find a way to support them without begging for donations.
  • Organizing a march around the world on the same day to show the unity of Sikhs on getting justice for 1984. Not a march a khalistan but a march for justice to get the culprits punished.

I will add more as I remember. I feel helpless as I can't do anything but I hope all will do ardass for me so one day I can be free of this bond of mouh and do something for my panth.

In My Opinion,

Look at the blessings within. The pen is a Mighty Sword. Use the pen to write those words that can inspire countless. Be Inspired Yourself! Who Knows! Countless might read your words who then can make the maneuvers necessary for Sikh Chardhi Kala Worldwide !! Each one is unique. Not everything is to be done physically. If Sevaa is needed somewhere which requires an army of Sevaadaars; then someones are needed to strategize too. Be an articulate strategic. The Pen is Mighty Mighty.

There is no need to wonder what the scenario would be otherwise. Break the barriers of culture within the comfort zone of yourself, teeter tottering the various balances needed for a balanced life including your family. It takes time sometimes. But that doesn’t mean one should not do anything if their minds, hearts and spirit desireth otherwise. But keep the balance. You do not want to hurt your parents; simple; don’t. But at the same time, you can surely do something for the Panth if that is what you desire. The Pen is Mighty Mighty.

The ideas you are sharing are what Is needed. There are some who want to do something, but don’t know what to do. The more awareness there is about issues worldwide, the better! The Pen Is Mighty Mighty. Write about the Widow Colony and go to various websites informing the World. They don’t have to be Sikh websites! Inform The World! You can do it from Home! The Pen Is Mighty Mighty!

Share the ideas! Make the World Aware! Don’t be disappointed if you feel you didn’t succeed! Sometimes fruits come later! And sometimes sooner! You plant the seeds you wish! The Pen Is Mighty Mighty!

To Make A Worldwide March to bring attention to the Atrocities, Pogroms, Genocides, Injustices On The Beautiful People Of The Sikh Faith requires World Wide Attention So People OF ALL BACKGROUNDS, RELIGIONS, ETC! are aware! The Pen Is Mighty Mighty!

Don’t Feel Helpless! You Are Already Helping!

Most important! If you’re ever feeling down! Look Within! And Inspire Yourself Within, Within Your Situation(s)!

You can do A Lot! And You Will!

Keep Safe!

Chardhi Kalaa !!!

You are doing what you need to do. It takes guts to write the things you write... and freeing sikhism from the shackles of culture is a very hard business... but if someone doesn't what future can this religion have? The sikh faith is in dire need of people like you who are willing to stand up and fight to purify sikhism back to the pristine and pure religion of the Gurus. Please, please, please don't give up.... there is far too much at stake.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
