If Amandeep's parents are reading this, please consider him taking amrit, as its good and will stop our young one from falling prey to fake people. A

Amandeep you should sit down with ur parents and discuss with them why you want to take amrit, and ask them also why they dont want you to take it.

You also need their blessings so please dont go astray to the other extreme by not talking to them. Taking amrit is not easy, so you need to make sure you are ready properly.

But whatever you do, dont get misguided. Dont be sad, pray to waheguruji, they should be remembered in your heart too.

Take it veerji as u never kno when u cud breath ur last its imperative every sikh is workin their way up to amrit and livin accordin to Guru Maharaj...Bhaji i was in the same boat 2 yrs ago when my parents said this to me and they were totally against me drinkin the sweet nectar of SatGuru and instead they didnt mind if i was out doing bad but this is the sad truth with some parents who were not properly educated into sikhi....Do ardas to Maharaj to be blessed with amrit and just keep practicing rehat and you will get it in due time...as ur parents are your first guru's when you are born into this world u shud show them utmost respect but if they are depriving u of being part of the khalsa and not allowing you to join ur True Guru then its kinda bad...Piyariah let time take its course and all i can say is to do ardas with dhian :waheguru:

Marf karo if ive said wrong in this to offend anyone who reads this

Keep the rehat wear kakkar and take amrit after a month or so by that time you parents will be comfortable with ur changed life style.

You should know no sikh parents are against amrit but the parent-kid bond is far more stronger and parents tend to think by taking amrit our kid may change his social life will stop he may leave the house etc. This is the only reason they tend to avoid amrit.

After all they are your parents going against them isnt gurmat either.

I will not suggest taking amrit without their permission or rushing into it. But spend time reading bani start wearing kakkar starting waking up at amrit vehla. You will also have a glance of post amrit life as well as your parents.

After a month or so your family will be surely ready.

Guest Love parents

It is very sad that parents don't recognise value of amrit but do recognise value of worldly goods . I bet they let you decide on ur A's but on this they no trust you know wha u doing !

If you truly feel that you are ready to give your head for khande de pahul, then by all means do not hesitate to become amritdhari. I did not let my parents fully know because i knew there would be an argument. Do ardaas, go recieve it from your true mata and pita and everything will fall into place. Ardaas is key.

Feteh ji..

Veeji I have the same. prob.. I have been waiting to take amirt but my dad wont let.. me.. I emailed this gursikh. nd that gursikh said to me : Receiving Guru Ji's amrit is between you and him. No one else. It does not matter what anyone else does or does not do. This is your own personal relationship to your Guru. Love your father and do not argue with him. Just smile and laugh. Guru Ji will bless you with his amrit when the moment is perfect. Let it unfold.

Waheguru thinks best for yu veerji.. we will just have to wait. maybe this anit the rite time for us to take it. waheguru will bless us wen its the rite time. keep the rehit and stay chardi kala. do ardaas..nd wahegruu will bless yu wiv amrit... dunt lose the faith on waheguru. Always ask waheguru to make you want amrit. soo much.. you will love the piaas. :)

gurfethe.

Do not hesitate for an instant - meditate on the Lord, O my soul; who knows whether he shall draw another breath?

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
