Lord'S Darshan

Just as for any knowledge, we need to learn from someone, similarly, as it is said in the Bani: Awar kaaj, tere kitte na kaam, mil sadh sangat, bhaj kewal Naam. There you will get the right directions for you noble and lovely question. This is something which has to be practiced and done, with someone who is an expert in it. Your question is like you have seen a delicious food in a magazine, and so you have the desire to have it and eat it. Magazines however colorful, can just create that desire in you, but no amount of looking at it, can satisfy your hunger....It has to be done in a particular manner and with some particular ingredients, this process can be called "jugtee" or technique, which has to be learned and practiced, then you can have that delicious taste of that food. In spirituality it is the same. If for worldly things which are perceivable through our mind and senses, a teacher is needed... then how come for the spiritual achievements, which are not possible with our senses, neither gyan nor karam indriyas, can we do it by ourselves? Naturally a guide is needed. We must be aware, that in the spiritual realms, there are many spiritual beings, then just imagine that a negative entity comes in front of you disguised as, let us say God for example, how can one say for sure, that what you have seen is real? In those realms also, a guide is essential. This guide walks with you, the whloe way back, up to the end, and protects you and guides you in, at each step. Many references are given in the Bani, like for example : Ik Onkar, Satgur Parsad. There is only one God and He is realized as an act of grace, as parsad, of a Satguru. At other place it is also mentioned : Agam Agochar Prabh Abnasee, poore Gur te paaya. And that teacher is none other, than Wahuguru Himself, who comes at our level, for this very purpose of taking his afflicted souls in this maayaavee creation, back to our Nijh Ghar, Sach Khand. And this way has to be so, because who else than Wahiguru can know the way of going back so accurately? Just as nobody, can know better than oneself, one`s neighbourhood and the streets or lanes taking to one`s own house. No matter how much, one can be a yogi or a gyani, the spiritual planes are so huge and vast, that the whole physicall universe is like a hair floating in an ocean, compratively in the first spiritual astral region. So then what to say about the higher stages in the way back, gods and godesses, like Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva or devis also do not know who Satpurush is, or the way back to him, all are traped and misled by Kal, so then who or what are we petty humans? But one thing is in our favour, His inmense love, daya and meher for us.

Who other than Wahiguru Himself, has that power to do so? . Nobody except Him, can do so, as Kal is quite powerfull, and without this aid of Sat Purush as a Satguru, none can cross and reach Parbraham. Only Wahiguru is superior and more powerfull than Kal; so when the soul goes back, accompanied by a Satguru, Kal has no alternative, but to bow down at Wahiguru, and also at the blessed accompanying soul. Both soul and Wahiguru, assume human forms on this physicall level, but when both leave this world, both of them also in thier true spiritual nature, one as Shabad Guru (Satguru teacher), and the other as Dhun Chela ( soul disciple), go together hand by hand, stage by stage, until the goal is achieved, Sach Khand.

Har Har-jan doi ekhu hey dosar nahee koi..... The Lord and His servants are both one, there is no one else.

Bhaji I agree with you wholeheartedly.

The only thing I would expand on a little is that AkaalPurkh loves His devotees very much and he showers them with blessing and honour. In chaupai Sahib it says that when the Sants are pained so is Akaal pained, and He is happy when His Sadhus are happy. One way that AkaalPurkh honours His devotees is by sending them to Matlok to show us the way. If one tries to reach out and grab a light bulb then one will get burnt terribly, and God is like a light bulb of a million watts and if we reach out directly we cannot take the parkash, we cannot endure His brilliance. We need jugtee/technique and we need assistance and this is where His devotees show us the way. With their guidance and love and patience we take faltering steps along the true path. Many times we fall or veer off course but due to those souls who have been sent by AkaalPurkh from Sachkhand we are guided onto the path again. We suffer because we have detached ourselves from AkaalPurkh and attached ourselves to maya. We suffer because we lose ourselves in maya, we cannot see the wood for the trees, it is when His devotees show us the way that we attach ourselves to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Shabad Guru that we start to taste the delights of Gurbani. Alas most of us will shun such souls and even do nindhya, and if His devotees are being nindia’d then AkaalPurkh is being nindia’d and so we carry on in the circle of life and death.

The pains of both birth and death are eliminated, and they merge into the Name of the Lord.

The Lord's servants meet with God and merge into Oneness. The Lord's servant and God are one and the same.

Quite very much true, this above post, thanks. And as we are in the mood of talking of love and devotion, I would like to offer in service of the sangat, some lovely and inspiring lines from the Bani of Paanchvee Patshahee Gond M . 5. P . 864 :

Gur parasd urd kamal bigas,

Andhkar meh bhaya pargas;

Jin kiya so Gur te janiya,

Gur kirpa te mugad man maniya;

Gur karta gur kanay jog.

Gur parmeshwar hai be hog;

Kaho nank Prabh eha janai,

Bin Guru mukt na paiye bhai

This means:

By Guru`s grace the inner lotus is opened. In darkness dawneth Light. He who has created the Universe, through Guru is He known;by Guru`s kindness the foolish mind, comes in control. Guru is the real doer, Guru has the the power to do; Guru is God, now and forever. Says Nanak, God has made this known, that without Guru there is no salvation, brother.

At other place again Guru jee says, raag Gauri Purbi M . 5 . :

Jis ka greh tin diya tala,

Kunjee Gur saunpee.

Anik upay kare nahee paave,

Bin satgur sarnaee.

Which means:

Whose House it is ( i.e. the human body ), He (Himself ) has locked it ; (but) and the key has been given to a Guru. How so ever numerous ways does the man adopt, the key he gets not, except by coming under the refuge ( feet ) of a Guru .

Moreover at other place again Guru jee insists in Raag Gauri Sukmani :

Satpurukh jin jaanya Satgur tiska naun,

Tiske sang sikh udharay Nanak Har gun gau.

Which means:

Sat Purush who has realized, satguru is His name. In His company is the disciple saved, by singing His praises, O Nanak.

Sikh also means, one who learns. But learns what? Sikhiya. But which sikhiya? The sikhiya of Gurmat . That also, for what purpose? For being transformed from a manmukh into a gurmukh. No any other way. Sikh is also a degree, that one gets, by bravery and purity wining the mind, and thus reaching the first spiritual stage of Sahasdanwal Kanwal, or known as the astral region, thus by reaching there, that soul is given the title of a sikh, in it`s true sense. But we are not supposed to be stuck there, we are supposed to move still upwards , until we reach Sach Khand by His grace, and become one with Him, then and only then that soul gets the title of a "Sant". That is why in our teachings Sant is given that supreme importance. For other people sant is someone in saffaron dress or a recluse , a sadhu, a yogi or a sanyasi; but in our Bani, Sant is that being, who comes direct from Sach Khand, none other than Wahiguru Himself, with the sole purpose of spreading daya meher on the jivas, and take them out of this bahvsagar, with the help of Nam and Shabad Dhun, to their true "Nijh Ghar".

Is there any way to know if your close to God's Darshan? Any signs/symptoms I guess you could call them. Thanks

Below is just posted a beautiful Shabad for your hearing pleasure:

Bhai Baldev Singh

Khalsa Ji

If one desires God's Darshan then according to SGGS Ji Maharajh one must do the following;

ਸੁਖੁ

Sukẖ ḏukẖ jih parsai nahī lobẖ moh abẖimān.

One who is not touched by pleasure or pain, greed, emotional attachment and egotistical pride -

<a class="dict" href="http://www.srigranth.org/servlet/gurbani.dictionary?Param=ਕਹੁ" ;="">ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਨੁ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੧੩॥

Kaho Nānak sun re manā so mūraṯ bẖagvān. ||13||

says Nanak, listen, mind: he is the very image of God. ||13||

AkaalPurkh can appear and give darshan to anyone, who is at any level and sometimes in the most unexpected of times.

It is Gods wish who he gives darshan to - Gurparsadh. Baba Freid Ji (I think)spent his whole life in meditation and he used to hang upside down in a well from a chain as he contemplated God. One day a farmer walked by and asked what he was doing. Upon finding out the farmer hurried home and quickly wound round some long grass in the form of a rudementary rope slung it over the nearest well and hung upside down and started repeating Gods name. Very soon AkaalPurkh appeared to the farmer and blessed him. Now, Baba Ji was very perturbed by this, he had been hung upside down for years and got no where. When AkaapPurkh Ji did give Baba Ji darshan God said that all these years you have had faith in the metal chain to keep you from falling into the well whereas the farmer used a rope made of dry grass and put his faith in Me.

Enlightenment comes in a instant, when you get Gian it is in a flash and when you get this all time and space become one you then understand the nature of Gods creation. you start to see AkaalPurkh in all beings. Was it Bhagat Namdev Ji who while meditating a dog came and stole the roti that Baba Ji was going to have. When Baba Ji saw the dog running off with the roti he got up picked up the ghee and started running after the dog. Baba Ji shouted after the dog "if you are going to have the roti Maharaj Ji then please don't have it dry please add some ghee to it." From the animal AkaalPurkh Ji appeared and blessed Baba Ji "You truly see Me in everything now."

when the Sultan was passing through the town all were ordered to look down to avoid looking at the sultans wife. All lowered their gaze except Bhagat Kabir Ji who looked at the pretty woman and smiled with joy. The Sultan was furious he ordered his guards to bring this person to him. When asked why he letched over his wife Bhagat Ji said "I was smiling, not at your wife but at the creator who created such a beautiful thing. How beautiful must He be who can create such a beautiful woman."

Our job is to Naam jap, that is all. Leave everything else to AkaalPurkh. Keep your naam going 24/7 or as much as you can. See Akaal in everything, when you are out in the street and you pass a garden with a bush in full bloom and beautiful flowers then see Akaal in them, say "wah Guru Ji you and your creation is so beautiful." when you see a cloud formation that pleases you then say "Wow Guru Ji you are so awesome, Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji." the more you do this the more close you become to your Guru. And the Guru will see that you are now seeing Him in everything and you will be showered with blessing.
