CHANADIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today questioned the logic behind sending police personnel for commando training to Israel who will afterwards be deployed for the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal's security. He remarked, "Mr Badal seems to have no faith and trust in his own police force by seeing a terrorist behind every bush".

Reacting to the reports that the Akali-BJP government in Punjab had decided to send police cops to Israel for commando training, Capt Amarinder revealed that Mr Badal had no faith in his own police. "He already has the elite NSG security cover and now he wants Israeli trained personnel for his security", he observed, while adding, he should have faith in his own police personnel."

The former Chief Minister asserted that there was no logic in spending the tax payers' money on such an unnecessary expenditure, particularly when Punjab can ill afford it and "our boys are well trained to protect you". He said, if Mr Badal really wanted to impart his security staff with advanced training he could send them to NSG training centre at Manesar, where even the SPG commandos, looking after the security of the Prime Minister, are trained or to Belgaum where Indian army's commandos are trained.

Capt Amarinder pointed out, when he took over as the Chief Minister, he returned all the NSG commandos who had been inducted into the Chief Minister's security by Mr Badal and had instead deployed only the Punjab Police personnel for the job. "You should have faith in your own police and people", he told Mr Badal, while adding, "don't demoralise your own police by suspecting them".

Capt Amarinder also had a word of advice for Sukhbir Badal. "Everybody knows that Mr Badal's political decisions over the past forty years have been based on fear, but you are young and you should set a brave precedent by trusting your own police of which department you are the minister. Do not follow your father's footsteps, trust your police and people", he said, while telling him that he was young in politics and had a long way to go. "Hence", he advised Sukhbir, "it is important to lead from the front to win the trust of people you hope to lead one day."

If Badal and Amrinder really cared for the Sikh Panth they could easily give a kick in the backside of Delhi central government and show them Sikhs want their sovereignty or at the very least autonomy back. Failure to do that will just make them look like agents of the ruling elite in Delhi as they have been since they came to power. There is no real Sikh party left that is fighting for political power of Sikhs, when you see an armed Sikh army then we can say yes progress is being made. Because only through Sikh armed forces will the fort and homeland of Sikhism be secured as history tells us.
