dalsingh101 - jeeo very informative post and most truthful to the point - many thanks for taking time out and sharing.

It's amazing even one of those youth who was recued by the sikh channel and interviewed - when asked how much land does your

family havae back home he said - 12 acres - i was shocked and the reasons are exact as you and s1ngh says 100% spot on.

To be honest if we ever have to go back we wouldn't surive at all over there- it's pure cowbiy country whether business or agriculture or driving.

Maybe we just need to face up to the fact that as a community, we are too independent minded, and excessively prone to favoritism and

corruption to pull of some big economic moves?

You can see it in London, where Sikhs were one of the most prosperous communities not long ago, but who have put down NO independent economic markers, whilst Muslims have created their own STRONG economy with Islamic bookshops cum clothes stores, Halal butchers, all manner of grocery outlets and even hair dressing! Add minicab driving to that list as well.

Has anyone spoken to the gurdwarras yet about this issue?:

They need to build at least one homeless shelter and allow sikhs to spend the cold winter nights in their premises- and physically get sewadars to go out and invite the homeless people to come and get food etc. If they say they cant afford to feed them or any other rubbish, we should all get up and tell them that we will go without langar so that they can have it daily-

They should speak of this issue in their speeches at wedding and in daily sangat. It's time the sangat stood up and started doing what the Gurus taught us by example.

Afterall the actual Sikh is the servant of the helpless and needy- we live for seva of naam and the underdog.
