BBC Asian Network "Investigating" Why Sikhs Oppose Mixed Marriages In Gurdwaras

Recommended Posts

is an athiest born sikh family allowed to get married in a gurdwara even though their an athiest and can an athiest born into a non sikh family get married in a gurdwara

First of all, why would an atheist want to marry in a religious place ( gurdwara /church/temple

etc.)?

If an atheist does want to do that , would not his/her reason to do so be only a cultural or ritual one?

So,

"an athiest born into a non sikh family" ---- No

"an athiest born (into) sikh family" ---- Yes -- no one is likely to raise any objection (unless the person declares so openly of being an atheist at the time of ceremony . This they are not going to be declaring, if they are presenting themselves in front of Guru Granth Sahib for cultural or ritual reason in the first place.)
