Gurmukhi: Who invented Gurmukhi?

Recommended Posts

The quote below is from book Bahu Mulle itihasik lekh by Karam Singh Historian

PG 52

The relation of Gurmukhi to "Hindi" is only a popular opinion which is scientifically unsound: because Hindi at the time of the Gurus, was not written in Devanagri characters. The present hindi script is very recent and Gurmukhi has nothing to do with it.

This was reply to Karam Singh Historian by Dr. Sideshvar Verma M.A D.Litt.

Gurmukhi derived from Lande is also wrong.

More details will be posted.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji invented Gurmukhi. The proof lies in his bani Patti Likhi. Sakhi of Paira Mokha also proves that Guru Sahib invented and taught Gurmukhi to Sikhs. Guru Angad Dev Ji popularized it just like Guru Amar Das Ji strongly advocated langar and everyone taking a part in it. The scripts Takri and Shaarda are similar to Gurmukhi. About 25 letters of Punjabi existed during Guru Ji's time and he took the original scripts and refined them. All Indian languages including Urdu come from Brahmi and not Sanskrit. Guru Rakha
