What was the need for porn? Why is it even on the internet? And because of some sites not asking for proof such as bank details or ID etc a lot of the younger generation are getting addicted to it! I read as young as 11!!!!!! It also wrecks our rehat and sikhi!!!!!

Porn exists for business purposes alone, they may not get your money, but they'll get ads, support from governments, donations, as well as events for their business.

People watch porn because people are marrying later.

If Sikhs were to read all the charitars from Sri Charitropakhiyan Sahib Ji there would be no need for you to view porn. This is why Dasam Pita dedicated 7years of their life to creating all the different Triya Charitar stories

err firstly your wording makes it seem you are suggesting GuruPita ji wrote porn which would negate need for other stuff... I don't think you meant it that way but just in case someone else gets the wrong end of the stick :

Guru Pita ji gave us the same advice he received from his father: to never even in a dream go to the bed of another ...i.e. the thought is as bad as the action ....in what universe does a Father telling us this, allow the kirdaar of his children to fall so low as to consume Porn or low thoughts about paraiyian/paraiae ? Sikhs accept kaam as part of their makeup but work on controlling it along with the other four thieves, stay within gursikh marriage and build a relationship with santokh and sat

Triya .. what does it mean ? it seems its corrupt of "Stri" which means woman. "Tria charitar" would then mean a "woman's character".

Not surprised this cultural things crept into religion , as after all , PUNJABIS are one of the MOST sexist, misogynist and by extension homophobic culture of india. And since most sikhs are punjabis, this has crept into religion as well. Although at community level, not scripturally.

I can bet , the words of triya charitar apply to men as much as they apply to women.

Also my question "What if marriage is not possible for a person?" . How does then "don't go to others bed even in dream" apply ?

again with the jumping to conclusions ...in sikhi there is only ONE Pursh AKAL PURAKH the rest are Naari jaat whether human male or female. if you read the chiritars as detailed BOTH human forms are shown to be lacking in morals or sense of right in the face of kaam.

err Bro you need to check your anger at the door ... before you say  something you don't mean we Know the author was Guru Pitaji and he was retelling tales of high positioned people who were given blessings by Akal Purakh to rule and lead and yet were brought so low by their MOH, Ahankar, Lobh and Kaam that they were prepared to kill innocents(The king in the top level story) also the inner stories retold by the minister illustrate the depravity extends to all strata in kalyug.

it applies prior to marriage and after ...you can't be picking and choosing  which of Guru Pita ji's words apply and when , hukham is for always

Interesting.

I am aware of the concept of eko purakh, sagal naar. But I am sure its a mere metaphor to help us understand . In reality, god and soul doesn't have gender. There are many places in gurbani where relationship of jeev and waheguru is referred to in terms of husband-wife relationship but this is just to help us understand.

I am not saying charitropakhyan is not written by guru sahib. Besides, I have not read charitropakhyan or triya charitar, so am not rightful to say anything about it, althoug i strongly believe its more about lessons.

But actually not everyone have the privilege to marry .

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
