Best progz to protect your PC

Write down all computer progams you think are essential and use yourselves against threats and attacks.

Heres what I recommend

I like mcafee better, Nortons i found slowed my system down.

for spyware i use all of the following once a month:

spybot

search and destroy ( 14 years left on subscription :e: )

giant anti spyware

ad aware

Adware Away

maybe im paranoid, but that should keep u in good shape

norton 2005 is the best for viruses though it does cause slight system lag. u can just turn it off when doing power draining stuff. make sure u download a program called "Hijack This". if u ever get a virus that cant be fixed by ur AV, run this program, and post it on security forums. computer people can usually recognize viruses from the log it creates of registry and stuff

windows sp2 firewall is what i use, though i guess its not recommened....firewalls are a pain....check if ur router has a hardware one...thats more than enough

maybe you guys can tell me whats wrong with my computer,

i had 120mb or something, but it kept telling me i was low on vitual memory,

so i got another 512mb, but it still keeps on saying that,

even if i m not doing anything, the page usage keeps going up,

please help :wub:

maybe ur computer is set to custom virtual memory settings which u or someone else might have set at sometime.

To change them back, right click on 'my computer', properties -> Advance -> Proformance.

Make sure you click "let windows choose what's best for my computer" unless u have ur own needs to set custom settings. Then go to Advance and on the bottom u'll see a virtual memory option. Click on the change button and there u may increase the size of virtual memory available to your computer.

Mine is set to maximum 1920, which is the default for my version of Windows Xp.

its already set to let windows decide,

i think the problem has something to do with the pagefile usage,

it just keeps going up,

Trying increase the maximum value for virtual memory.

Under the virual memory options you'll see a column saying: "total paging file size ..."

check and see if your current allocated size is more than the recommended value.
