ਕਬੀਰ ਸੂਖੁ ਨ ਏਂਹ ਜੁਗਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜੁ ਬਹੁਤੈ ਮੀਤ ॥

kabeer sookh na ayNh jug karahi jo bahutai meet

Kabeer, peace does not come in this world by making lots of friends.

ਜੋ ਚਿਤੁ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਨੀਤ ॥੨੧॥

jo chit raakhahi ayk si-o tay sukh paavahi neet.

Those who keep their consciousness focused on the One Lord shall find eternal peace.

"sukh" = happiness

"jug" = world

"bahutay meet" = lots of friends

"chit" = mind

"raakhai" = keep

"neet" = always, forever

This Salok of Bhagat Kabeer Ji shows how highly we regard materialistic things and how we ignore the Truth.

We are so attached to worldy things; the people we love, objects we treasure, the food we eat. We worry so much about losing them. No matter how many friends we have to console us, we won't be happy. We find our friends betraying us, lieing to us, avoiding us, hurting us. Then we realise how much time we waste. Some think that by getting married, falling in love or having children, they'll be happy. We place so much value on this stuff, but does it really matter?

In the end, it doesn't go with us. It doesn't calm us, it doesn't help us if we can't meditate on Maharaj. This is so easy to say, but immensely difficult to actually believe and implement. Placing our faith in this stuff is not the right way to go. It's a useless, pointless wasting-of-time way to go, but we usually do it anyway :D . Placing our faith in Maharaj is the Way to Go.

Imagine not feeling any worry. Not feeling any sadness when the people around us die, or feeling angry when we bite our tongues or stub our toes or when the post we just typed out gets lost due to the Page Not Being Displayed. :D Anyway, that would be a good feeling. A state of mind which we can't begin to comprehend, but will ensure peace and tranquility (*understatement*).

The point is to always remember quietly at the back of our minds, that whatever happens around us is an illusion. It's temporary, it'll pass, we'll get over it. Our focus is to remember Maharaj in any situation we're put in, and to trust Him with everything, thank Him for everything and become obsessed with Him in general.

Today's picture is not relevant to the post because I didn't know what would be relevant.
