This is the simplest of all Guru Gobind Singh's compositions. The Sikhs sing it every morning and it is also used in the preparation of amrit (nectar of baptism). The theme is set in the first verse: cakr cehan ar barn jat ar pat nahenjai, rup rang ar rekh bhekh kou kaih na sakat kaih. achal moorat anbhau parkas amitauj kahija,i kot indr indran sah sahaan ganijai. tribhavan mahip sur nar asur neti neti ban trin kahat. tav sarab nam kathai kavan, karam nam barnat sumat.! Contour and countenance, caste, class or lineage, He has none. None can describe His form, figure, shape and semblance whatever; Immovable and self-poised is His being, Without fear, a luminous light s…

Yoga Students in China Enjoy Learning about Japji Sahib Yoga is becoming popular everywhere. Including China! Many yoga students in China have found themselves drawn to the study of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. One of their favorite aspects of the yoga is chanting - in particular the practice of chanting Japji Sahib by Guru Nanak. Because of their curiosity about Japji Sahib, the Kundalini Yoga community in China hosted a workshop on the Naad of Japji from May 5-7, 2011. The workshop was held at the breathtakingly beautiful Ra-Ma-Da-Sa Center for Yoga, Meditation and Well-Being in the countryside of Fujian Province. Ek Ong Kaar Kaur Khalsa,…

in japji sahib it says "gur esar gur gorakh barmaa gur paarbatee maa-ee" which means guru is shiva, the guru is vishnu and brahma, the guru is paatvati and lakhshmi btw not questing bani or anything i just want to understand it more does this mean that we believe in hindi gods? and guru nanak dev ji is saying they are equivient to him? and also another question i wanted to add on to this is, throughout guru granth sahib ji mahraj there are references to islam and hinduism but why are there no refernces to other religions such as christianity? im sure mahraj knew it existed. im not trying to question gurbani i was just curious thanks wjkk wjkf

Wjkk Wjkf Jeo, Firstly, many many apologies for all the mistakes and errors I may have made during the translation of this vichaar. With Waheguru Ji's hukam, I hope one day He will make do the translation of rest of the tapes in this vichaar series. Anyhow, for the moment, here is Sahib Sant Singh Ji Maskeen's vichaars on Japji Sahib Ji's first pauri. Hope it is an interesting read, and as usual, i'll say listen to the original audio if you find a lot has been lost in the translation. fateh I was wondering if someone has the Japjisahib either .doc or on a site that only has the "how to sound it out in punjabi" "translation" so for example: ik-oNkaar sat naam kartaa purakh nirbha-o nirvair akaal moorat ajoonee saibhaN gur parsaad. One Universal Creator God. The Name Is Truth. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying, Beyond Birth, Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace ~ jap. Chant And Meditate: aad sach jugaad sach. True In The Primal Beginning. True Throughout The Ages. hai bhee sach naanak hosee bhee sach. ||1|| True Here And Now. O Nanak, Forever And Ever True. ||1|| sochai soch na hova-ee jay sochee lakh vaar. …

This is part of the entire Japji Sahib I found translated in a book on Sikhism by Hew McLeod (who doesn't seem to be very highly regarded for his work....) Personally I think this is a very beautiful translation, but I fear for it's accuracy. He claims to try and preserve the rhythm and neutrality of the original. I do not know why he's numbered the verses. ---- There is one Supreme Being, the Eternal Reality, the Creator, without fear and devoid of enmity, immortal, never incarnated, self-existent, known by grace through the Guru. The Eternal One, from the beginning, through all time, present now, the Everlasting Reality. 1. Never can you be known through ritual p…
