This blessed life we have now as Sikhs we duly and greatly owe to our Shaheed Singhs/Singhneeas, (Shaheed meaning Martyr) that¡¦s have given there lives so that we now might live a truly blissful life at the Gurus Charanaa (sanctuary) free from oppression, which was faced by the Sikhs in the 18th-19th Century. Mostly at the cruel hands of the Mughal Empire, which was soon to be destroyed by our Valiant and Brave Sikh Warriors. Soora so pahchaniye, je la…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sangat Jeo, Just finished scanning 'Gur Shabad Alankaar' by Bhai Kahn Singh Ji Nabha. This book can be considered as a companion to 'Gur Channd Divakar' which Kamalpreet Singh Veerji have most kindly digitised for us. 'Gur Channd Divakaar' is about the intricacies of Chandabandi within Guru Sahibs works, while this book expands on various alankaars, the literary ornamentation, as used in Sikh scriptures. I wish I could provide a better synopsis of the book, but I have just started reading it myself along with Gur Channd Divakar, so apologies for that. Anyway, hope Gur Channd Divakar and this book will be of some help to khojee p…

A beggar lived near the king's palace. One day he saw a proclamation posted outside the palace gate. The king was giving a great dinner. Anyone dressed in royal garments was invited to the party. The beggar went on his way. He looked at the rags he was wearing and sighed. Surely only kings and their families wore royal robes, he thought. Slowly an idea crept into his mind. The audacity of it made him tremble. Would he dare? He made his way back to the palace. He approached the guard at the gate. "Please, sire, I would like to speak to the king." "Wait here," the guard replied. In a few minutes, he was back. "His majesty will see you," he said, and led the beggar in. "Y…

I recently went to a concert. As the musicians sat down to play, this came to mind. Hope you like it . . . Life is like playing in an orchestra. First, God gives you your instrument and some music, and you sit down to play, but you say, "God, I've never played this piece before! Look at all of those notes! I'll never be able to do it!" But God gets up on the pedestal and holds His baton in His hand. He winks at you and says calmly, "Just follow me." You say, "But God, that will be too hard ...can't we play this other song? It looks a whole lot easier and a lot more fun to play," but God says, "No, follow MY lead" Well, you decide that it doesn't matter what God says…

Many may have read this story before but it is very good and I forgot the source. True Story in China WARNING: This story is of a sensitive nature. Dear friends, This is a story that I read in the Chinese papers Lianhe Zaobao on 2 Aug 1999. It is written by local Chinese traveler cum writer, Wu Wei Cai. I felt very touched and shaken by the story and I have translated it to English so that more people may read about it... This happened on a highway in China. Forty passengers, mostly males were on an inter-state bus. Halfway through the journey, two thugs on the bus suddenly went up to the lady bus driver and demanded that she stopped he bus and follow them to a waste…
