http://tisarpanth.blogspot.co.nz/2013/03/guru-nanak-dev-avatar-of-kal-yug.html Guru Gobind Singh in his anthology of 24 avatars essays and recounts the narratives of 24 different personalities, sent into creation to propagate 'dharma' or righteousness. Via a Vedantic perspective there are six different avatars, witht he highest being the 'Pooran Tam Avatar.' By adopting a Gurmat perspective we can easily summaries Guru Nanak Dev being a 'Pooran Tam Avatar.' The argument that Guru Nanak Dev was a prophet, a saint or reformist is easily nullified by Gurbani and the works of Bhai Gurdass Ji. Both mention an extensive number of individuals who achieved liberation before G…

Hello, I was hoping to gain some insight into a stamp marks that can be found on throwing chakrams. Below is a chakram stamped 3 times with a three prong stamp. I was told that the symbol was the "Sikh tree symbol" by a non Sikh. I am unfamiliar with the "Sikh tree" symbol. Was I told incorrectly? If I was, what does it mean? Personally, I believe that it might be a Aad Chand, as this symbol was associated with the nihang which commonly used chakrams. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated for my research. I know tridents are associated with Hindus, but is there any association with Sikhs, especially between 1800-1900? It may also be possible that the stamp is …

Some of you may be interested in the history of Sikh regiments that fought in several campaigns around the world. The originals written around a 100 years ago cost around £1300, as very few remain, however the Imperial War Museum has republished several of them. I got a copy of the 45th Rattray's Sikhs for £15, well worth a read and details the heroism of the soldiers and hardships they faced. I found out that the Turks used to forcibly shave Sikh prisoners when reading this book. http://www.naval-military-press.com/regimental-history-of-the-45th-rattray-s-sikhs-during-the-great-war-and-after.-1914-1921.html

Their fathers name was Baba Khajaan Singh and their mothers name Bibi Mehtab Kaur. At the age of 6-7 years, his parents who practiced the path of Gursikhi, gave him the duty to milk the buffalos and cows. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh das heard that back in the days there used to be a lot of variations from one Dasam Granth Saroop to another (ex: Jaap Sahib in some Saroops had 199 Pauris while other had 200 or 198) so Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji (Bhindranwale) took 100 Saroops and did Sudhiee and made one Saroop. My question is does anyone know where that Saroop is? Is there anyway to view it online or if a Singh has taken pictures of it and upload it as a PDF file? Bhul Chuk Maaf Karnee Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh

Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji and the Brahman While Guru Ji was at Panjokhara and mediating on God, a Sikh came and told him of a proud Brahman who was in the neighbourhood. The Brahman had asked the Guru’s name and learned that it was Satguru Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji. Hearing this the Brahman became very angry and said, ‘The poet of the Bhagavat Gita, whom no one can equal, called God merely Krishan, and the Guru calls himself Sri Har Krishan, as if he thinks himself superior to Krishan. If he be such a Guru let him come and translate the Gita with me’. Guru Ji replied to this Sikh, ‘ The eyes of understanding are very good, but the cataract of pride so blindeth them …

I want to keep this topic for the elder members who are serious about Sikhism and have a real interest in following Gurbani and are Practically searching for the Path. Subjects i was thinking of covering and looking for other peoples input are: - Path in Sikhism, where do Jatahs fall within this, the confusion around large personalities in all Jatahs and does that mean its not debatable or that we are misunderstanding what they were telling us and are maybe all saying the same things. - Realms. What does this mean for the implications of a possible spiritual realm and being accessible this through jaap. (reading this for many it may be the status quo, and in a way wat…
