Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalasa! Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh! Guru Amar Das' elder daughter, Dani, was married to a pious Sikh named Rama. His younger daughter, Bibi Bhani, was married to Jetha who was also most devoted to serving the Guru and his Sikhs. A gathering of followers came to the Guru and said, " Both Raina and Jetha are equally related to you and both perform works with great devotion. Although Rama is older, you seem to favor Jetha. Would you please tell us why?" The Guru said, "I am looking for the one who serves with greater faith, devotion, humility, and obedience. I am going to make a trial of Jetha and Rama; whoever fulfills my wishes the best will be the worthier of t…

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh! Upon hearing that the seven year old Guru was called Sri Har Krishan, a proud Brahmin went to visit him. He complained, "The poet in the Bhagavad Gita merely calls God Krishan, but you call yourself Sri Har Krishan. If you are such a great guru, come and translate the Gita with me." Guru Har Krishan said to the Brahmin, "I have not read the Gita, and even if I had, you would say I was just some rich man's son who had a private tutor. Bring some ignorant peasant to discuss it with you, and when you have proved your superiority, I will speak to you." The Brabmin went out and got Chhajju, a simple water-carrier, from the nearest …

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side. Very quietly, the doctor said, I don't know. You don't know? You, a religious man, do not know what is on the other side? The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side of which came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was her…

Writer: Vikram Singh Massachusetts USA At a certain point of history (1984 and for some years after that), a majority of the Sikhs around the world (both in India and abroad) supported the idea in one way or the other, irrespective of whether they were vocal about it or not. However with time support for the concept of Khalistan waned. It is true that amongst the Indian Sikhs it has little or no support. Many Indian Sikhs speak of the Khalistanis with contempt, sometimes with a greater verocity then that they hold for the Congress,BJP or RSS. I personally feel that this is due to many reasons. One reason is a feeling of being let down with the Khalistanis themselves.…

The Song Of The Sikh "Ah ! Well, let my hair grow long; I cannot forget the knot He tied on my head; It is sacred, it is his mark of remembrance. The Master has bathed me In the light of suns not yet seen; There is eternity bound in this tender fragile knot. I touch the sky when I touch my hair, And a thousand stars twinkle through the night. Who says the hair is no more than grass ? Yet a single hair is a dear remembrance, An heirloom, a trust, a pledge, a love, A vow, an inspiration. My form is but a statue of dumb gratitude for The knot of Friendship tied by those Kings of Eternity, The Gurus wh…

At a fund-raising dinner for a school that serves learning disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?" The audience was stilled by the query. The father continued. "I believe, that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the w…
