Sangat Jio, Due to my new work shift being 2pm I have a new routine on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When I wake I wash my face, brush, 5 Baania, breakfast, do a few brain teasers, exercise, THEN do a full body ishnaan. A second best idea but I don't do would be exercise first, ishnaan then 5 Baania. It doesn't make sense to do two body Ishnaan both in the morning. I know some may do it, even three times a day! But it depends on how we all think. Doing it this way makes me happy and it feels good. Adding to: it doesn't matter how or what we do but we all should attempt strenuous exercise for 3 hours a week. It could be gym, calisthenics, gymnastics…

What skills/ knowledge should one have before taking Amrit? More in terms of daily responsibilities, respect of gurus saroop, how different programs and paath take place and are organised at gurudwara. What should every Sikh know?

Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I'm 13 years old and I'm have come on to the path of sikhi and I am working towards taking Amrit. I have been doing my Paath and I don't understand most of it. I've been researching and I haven't found a way to learn the meaning of Gurbani. The only way I have found is using a translation. If anyone knows how I can understand Gurbani please tell me.

Since I have come into sikhi, I have become so isolated and don’t have any friends. The friends before I came into sikhi have drifted away, and I drifted away from them because I didn’t want to fall off this path of sikhi. Now I’m feeling lonely. Has anyone else experienced this?

Doing kirtan without being reported

I have moved out to my own place and like to invite friends around and do kirtan (akj style so lots of loud tabla). Semi detached property and neighbours are white british who seem quite relaxed, I mentioned about kirtan practice and that will try and be respectful of times etc they seemed okay. But I am conscious of the vibration sounds and disturbing the neighbours as the tabla vibrations are very heavy more than I thought. I dont want to compromise on something that is very close to my heart and lifestyle but equally dont want to cause nuisance. Am I by law allowed to make noise in the day? And if neighbours do complain by knocking how should I handle it?

Muslim Lesbian writes about Sikh Film
by Guest DesiFlix- 7 replies

A feminist film company called Dispatch FMI put on a screening of Bend It Like Beckham in London this week. They comissioned an essay to go with the screening and put a call out for proposals a few weeks ago on their twitter page. I was excited to see some positive representation in the media. But they chose Deena al-Aqsa, a Muslim Lesbian, to write the essay. That's how she describes herself in her Twitter bio - that's not me making an assumption and stereotyping her because of her name. Sikhs get so little coverage compared to muslims and we spend so much of our time explaining that we aren't muslims. There is virtually no Sikh representation in the medea It s…

Extreme byadbi

Last weekend, I attended gurdwara Babe Ke in UK birmingham where around 40-50 Singh Sahibs attended because serious byadbi had occurred. This is the most serious case of byadbi in the world and that is no exagerration. This matter has not received much attention because sangat are worried about the serious concern it will cause, but it has to be aired in the global Sikh panth commuity. It feels like people are trying to cover it up!! Lots of Guru-Sahib-Saroops were kept at the gurdwara in a dark cold room which the committee referred to as a sachkand. The room was ridden with rodents. Bibiya said they found mouse poo in the place where gutkas were stored. There was l…
