Where to get quality tulwars in Punjab
by Guest PSB- 1 reply

Finding quality shastars in India is like trying to find that proverbial needle in a hay stack. So, brothers/sisters, do any of you have recommendations as to where high-quality, functional tulwars are being made in Punjab (or Delhi)? Your recommendations are appreciated. On that same note, if anyone has recommendations as to where to purchase puratan shastars, ideally made of wootz, that is also appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As sikhs we are asked to take out 1/10 of our kirt kamai (honest earnings) so i have been doing so for a while but this is the Gurus money ( it is all his but you know what i mean) and i do not want to give it to just anyone and not all of it to just one organisation, so please give me your recommendation and ideas. who do you give yours too, i feel the Gurdwaras already have more than enough but will give their occasionally . I believe the poor is who i should be helping but sometimes its a case of do i trust these charities. as i live in the west its not always easy to see the poor like in india and other countries, I am the custodian of the Gurus money so want to be c…

Wjkk wjkf I'm thinking of going india to get santhiya can anyone recommend places where I can get it??? I'd be preety much learning from scratch I'm 23 so is it to late?? I don't want to learn just how to pronounce bani but ithaas, meanings and philosophy/ theology of sikhi ... so I guess you could say I'm looking for a vidiya guru Also would there be any cost involved I'm willing to stay at the asthaan. Family seems to hold the view that such places are money hungry and without money they will never give you anything. Maybe there are singhs in india who could help me out?

WJKK WJKF I recently took amrit and I want to read from the Guru Granth Sahib, I don't want to do akhand paath roll yet I just want to read from guru ji at the Gurdwara on my own time in private. Is this allowed? What do I ask the giani before I do so? Is there any other requirements? Also is a must to have done your full santhiya before doing rolls at akhand paaths? Thanks in advance Guru Ang Sang

Where To Sit?
by Guest Kaur- 7 replies

Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa vaheguru ji ke fateh I have a question I hope you can help me with. At my local gurdwara in the langar hall there is mostly tables and chairs, and a very small area for eating langar whilst sitting on the floor, say for about ten people max. Hardly anyone sits on the floor to eat langar, however I choose to sit there and also my children sit with me too. Many times we are the only ones eating langar whilst sitting on the floor, whilst rest of the sangat is sitting at the tables and chairs. Now should langar be eaten all at the same level? Therefore should I be joining the majority by sitting at a table and chair? I do feel sometimes feel I am singl…

How high up are you meant to where the kachera? i.e. where should you tie it. I swear this is a serious question, I've been wearing kachera for years but most of the time i just bought any random kachere. I was looking at sikhistore.com kachere which are breaka vale which I've heard about as being the proper kachere to wear. They said to measure from waist to above knee, I measured 16" when the smallest kachera is 20", and I am not short or anything. Someone else told me that most people wear there kachera starting from a little bit below the belly button, whereas I personally wear it not on the stomach at all. should I wear it higher up? this would explain why the mea…
