This story is reprinted by permission of Man's World India http://www.mansworldindia.com Do you know where you’re from? Is it what you consider Home? If you can’t picture it in your thoughts and taste it on your tongue, could it be that ‘Home’ doesn’t exist? Avtar Singh goes back to Punjab to find out I remember a short essay Prof. Henry Louis Gates wrote about Rushdie, in The New Yorker. I think it was on the back page, and it was many years ago. Dr. Gates was of the opinion that Rushdie’s real value was in pointing out to us, his readers, that in this time and space, "there is no such thing, as Home." I remember being struck by the assertion then. I was just com…

One day you run into an old friend on the street -- and blank out completely on his name. Another time, you stride with purpose from one end of your house to the other to do something -- but when you get there, you don't have a clue as to what it was. You forgot. It happens to all of us at one time or another. The memory fails. Facts flutter away. And generally, the older we get, the more we forget. But here's one piece of information you might want to remember: Researchers and doctors say there are some ways to fix a faulty memory, or at least boost our powers of recollection. The memory-aiding strategies -- which range from putting information in a memorable c…

After spending a few hours in the city, the promoters and the group would return later in the evening. Warm welcome was accorded to the group at the airport when the passengers alighted from brand new boeing 757 ER of Fly Jet …

Well, I don't see Sikhs hating Hindus or Hindu hating Sikhs in regular life. All this propaganda is spreading because of GOI and RSS. They are just power hungry Dogs. I see the same in Sikh leaders as well. I was wondering that what my Khalistani brothers think of this relation? Should we hate all Hindus because some of the corrupt Government leaders did injustice to Sikhs? Or we should hate the ones are corrupt? I don't see any reference in our history of Sikhs, where it says that if few ppl from the community have done injustice to you then hate the whole community? Are we following Islam? Kill the Kafir/infidels? Also, why are we forgetting house enemies…
