I read it in 'The Sikhs in History' by Sangat Singh. During the 1950s when Jawaharlal Nehru was nearing his death, he hired a pandit to lenghten his life. Nehru was suffering from acute illness and was nearing death, so he had a pandit who would recite and chant 'mantras' for curing Nehru and to increase his life.
