  1. Dear Sadh Sangat Ji, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to get a list on this Forum of all the Books ever published on 1984. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

  2. Thank you all for your replies. It has been a great help speaking to those who understand this a whole lot better than I do. Below, you'll see a picture of my friend, Narogen. We held a vigil for him outside his store today, and completely closed 2 roads in the process - more than 600 people turned up. Thank you again, and may you all have peace. In memory, Narogen Singh (1949-2011) "Sitting down, standing up, while sleeping or awake with each morsel of food, and every breath I never forget You." [sri Guru Granth Sahib, 378]

  3. The Enemity of Raja Bhima Chand of Bilaspur state Guru Gobind Singh Ji was merely nine years old when his father Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji was martyred at Chandni chowk Delhi. This was a very futile and testing time for the Sikh nation. But fortunate was the Sikh nation to have a righteous and diplomatic leader like Guru Gobnd Singh Ji. As soon as Guru Gobind Rai Ji accepted gurudom, Guru Ji cremated his father's severed head. Bhai Jeta Ji smuggled Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji's severed head from Mughal custody and He was hugged by Guru Gobind Rai Ji and Guru Ji uttered “Rangreta Guru Ka Beta” which literally translates as Rangretta caste as son of the Guru. Bhai Jeta had risked is own life to save sacrilege to Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji's severed head and indeed had committed a miraculous and brave deed. After tcremating Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji's head, the young Guru Gobind Rai asked Bhai Jeta Ji about the after effects of the martyrdom on the sikhs of Delhi.Bhai Jeta Ji replied that the Sikhs of Delhi after Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji's martyrdom tried to hide their identity. No one was prepared to declare himself a Sikh of the guru.A wave of fear struck the whole of Delhi.Guru Ji also heard of the bravery of those Sikhs who had helped to cremate the body of Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji at Rakabganj Sahib, Delhi. The young Guru Gobind Rai Ji declared ;” That I will give my Sikhs a distinct identity where by even one gursikh will not go undistinguished in thousands of people”.Guru Ji's declaration had an important bearing upon the psychology of his Sikhs. They were reminded to be fearless and enmityless just like the divine qualities of the almighty creator God.Guru Ji also stressed the need to mediatate upon thedivine name and hence conquer evil mindedness. This was the first hint Guru Gobind Singhji gave of the forth coming inaguration of the Khalsa brotherhood which was to ensue. Guru Gobind Rai consoled the Sikh masses over the martyrdom of the ninth Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadhur ji. Instead of weeping, Guru Gobind Rai ji tackled inner weaknesses amongst the Sikhs and gathered his strength and Guru jistressed that the blood shed of a great saintly man of god like Guru Tegh Bahadhur Ji would not be wasted in vain. The emperor Aurangzeb was convinced that the Sikhs were demoralised by the martyrdom of guru TeghBahadhur Ji and hence the advancement of the Sikh faith would be impossible. The surrounding Hill Rajas around Sri Anandpur Sahib Ji thought the same. However, the young Guru Gobind Rai had made other preparations. Guru Ji uplifted the spiritis of the downtrodden and disheartened masses by encouraging millitary training amongst the sikhs to include horse riding, hunting, spearfighting.Guru Ji sent edicts for the Sikh sadhsangat to present beautiful horses and good grafted weapons before the Guru in order to evoke the Guru's blessings. to be continued

  4. I think there is no discussion needed on what Guru Sahib's Hukam is to us. Basic Principle of SIKHI is to keep hair. JAB LAG KHALSA RAHE NEARA TAB LAG TEJ DIO MAIN SARA identity of khalsa is unique and this uniqueness is with SABAT SOORAT. Why our shaheeds did so many sacrifices and did not accept to get their hair cut and chose to give shaheedi instead. Please close this topic because it is very hurtful to read the stuff posted by some people who wants to live a life justifying their non-sikh lifestyle as sikhs. and to the original poster and some of his confused fellows here are some lines from gurbani ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨੁ ਮੂੰਡਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਕੇਸ ਮੁੰਡਾਏ ਕਾਂਇ ॥ Kabeer Man Moonddiaa Nehee Kaes Munddaaeae Kaane || Kabeer, you have not shaved your mind, so why do you shave your head? 1. Ang 952 Line 8 Raag Raamkali: Guru Nanak Dev or Go to Shabad ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਮੁਡਾਈ ਕੇਸੀ ਨਾ ਸਤਿ ਪੜਿਆ ਦੇਸ ਫਿਰਹਿ ॥ Naa Sath Moondd Muddaaee Kaesee Naa Sath Parriaa Dhaes Firehi || There is no Truth in shaving one's head; there is no Truth is studying the scriptures or wandering in foreign lands. I request to please lock this post and delete all posts that are leading to manmat.

  5. That's the scary thing. We fail to see the nirgun saroop of gurudev amongst us when we are engaged in worship, ie akhand paath. How many of us actually imagine guru gobind Singh maharaj sitting when our names are shamelessly read out during ardas? How many of us see gurudev looking at us when we go over to screw the granthi Singh doing ardas because he missed our name or read it wrongly because we cut a receipt for $1.25? Lol If we can keep this fear amongst us that besides only guru Granth sahib, our physical gurus are still ang sang sahai amongst us, We will be pronouncing our nitnem banis correctly, We will be doing akhand path with full devotion, We will eradicate our ego during gurudwara service The world will become a better place :-)

  6. Just read 1st page.. Based on that.. I also found it bit strange when some people pick stuff that they agree and then publicly raise hell when they don't agree with few things coming from sri akal takht sahib. However, before judging, people here need to learn how Sri Akal Takht sahib works. There is maryada and strict procedure to follow when someone gets called from sri akal takht sahib. They have requirements, vote and they have to get advise from panj granthi singhs and all decisions to be finalized by all jathedars of 5 takhts. On the other hand, giving award has no mention in any document. There is no document which shows any requirement nor guidelines on how and why to announce certain ppl to get any award from sri akal takht sahib. Simple is that we should respect sri akal takht sahib from heart not just for show. To avoid certain divisions of our panth, we have rule that nobody can bad mouth any jathedar singh sahib nor any historical sikh institution. Such threads like this one is the only way we can talk, discuss and share or expand our knowledge in more mature manner.

  7. I don't mean to sound harsh but if you said nothing to him at the time then opening a thread on this forum to complain about the event is rather useless.

  8. There's a difference between a jathedar giving an award and the panth excommunicating a gaddar like darshan through Hukamnama Both are gaddaars, but the jathedars are either paid off by badal or pay badal off. They had to excommunicate darsh because Singhs presented daunting evidence that he was intentionally misleading sangat. Just look what he's continuing to do, he and his jatha of thugs are still trying to cause needless tension.

  9. welcome to the forum , well depends on how religous he was, Sikhs are taught to meditate and connect to God while alive and also that the soul is eternal and will never die basically Sikhs dont believe in a matirial heaven or hell the reason being that if matirial things dont make one happy in this life how would they in the afterlife to a Sikh hell is living a life separated from God and heaven is living a life in service to God and humanity but when a Sikh dies it is proper to wish the widower that her husband find his eternal place in the arms of God and a card would be sweet maybe just let her know ur there oh and by the way i think its super sweet that you took the effort to come on this forum and find out in order to help another person its a wonderful gesture and judging by it u must be a very sympathetic person of a good heart which is hard to find these days. many blessings always

  10. How is a person wanting to learn, when the person comes in with the attitude of calling Sikhi practices hocus pocus ritual stuff? This shows the person is arrogant and anything you say to them will be disrespected. The disrespect has already started and they proved to others they are small minded.

  11. This topic says a lot regarding the overall situation of our community. When these people started they could have been stopped, but instead were ignored, now everyone is coming out with information of "I knew this, I knew that". On the other hand, where are the scholars challenging these people? How many books/seminars/smagams are held to expose their intentions? Is it limited to forums and Facebook only? We constantly hear of ghaga and ragi an co with their new dramas every so often, but never/rarely about solutions to this whole facade.

  12. That is exactly why, one should not be dabbling in this sort of stuff if one’s understanding of Gurbani and Sikhi are very limited. Sikhism helps us to strike the right balance between our understanding and experience. It is ridiculous to go off tangent, and off balance, in the name of mysticism when you need to focus first on getting your understanding of basic Sikhi right. This is how people become manipulated, used , cheated and irrelevant to the needs and purposes and callings of the Khalsa Panth. If someone cannot control this urge they really need to get off it immediately and learn the art of controlling your urges that’s lesson One in Sikhi before you claim to be any higher! And do not hide your weakness in controlling your urges in the disguise of ‘avastha’. Gurbani hardly even bothers repeating this word ‘avastha’ too much because Sikhi has more to do with a humble day to day life lived in the Hukum of Akal Purukh than to be classifying one’s life according to one’s tiny little spiritual avastha a term that lends itself to the birth of ego within a spiritual person faster than the weeds that grow in my garden! You are entirely wrong in stating ‘’ We cannot Interpret this avastha because we have not felt it.’’ Speak for yourself , not others! You need to do your homework and read Professor Sahib Singh’s translation and exposition of the verse you quoted starting with koi kahe…. and other teekas as well to realise you have quoted it out of context to try to substantiate the wrong point you made! You have copied the boring old habit that Radhaswamis, Nirangkaris Namdharis and Neeldharis have of conveniently, borrowing and misquoting verses from Gurbani to somehow justify their version of religion and mysticism, when it is blatantly obvious these verses are set within a deeper and higher context of meaning to unfold the mainstream philosophy of Sikhism that you would be familiar with if you stopped busying yourself with namdharee gurus and dogma and instead dug deep into the writings of Bhai Gurdas and Bhai Sahib Bhai Bhai Vir Singh, Professor Puran Singh and others. At the end of the day, this is a website that exists to introduce all visitors and members to the teachings of mainstream Sikhism, not its dodgy offshoot suckers like the Namdharis and etc. I do not appreciate people from cults and other religions hanging around here like silent viruses waiting for oppurtunities to twist and turn Gurbani, Sikh philosophy and Sikh history in order to justify, defend and propagate the teachings of their cults in the name of Sikhism!
