  1. ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ Ekta-Unity in the Panth http://gurmatbodh.bl...12/01/ekta.html One thing that is lacking in the Panth today is Ekta, or unity amongst Gursikhs. In my opinion Ekta is when you accept another Gursikh’s opinions on certain controversial issues and don’t let it get between your Gursikhi Prem. There are many stories that I have heard of Gursikhs from the Damdami Taksal and Akhand Keertani Jatha, and how much prem they had for each other. Over the past 30-40 years these two Jathebandis have given the most for the Panth. On Vasakhi 1978 it was these two Jathebandis that spoke out against the Nakli Nirankaris, who were disrespecting the Sikh Gurus. Sant Kartar Singh in the early 70’s held protests and nagar keertans against the Nirankaris. Then in 1978 under Sant Jarnail Singh the Taksal and the AKJ under Bhai Fauja Singh peacefully protested against them. Everyone knows the story of what happened next and the 13 Singhs that gave their life protecting the honour of their Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. More can be read here: Vaisakhi 1978 and here: Vaisakhi 1978These two jathebandis stood shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand against Beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. One of the first stories I heard was the amount of love Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee and Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Jee had for each other. These two Brahmgiani Gursikhs who had a few different opinions on some issues, yet there Rehat and Maryada was virtually the same. Sant Gurbachan Singh’s love and respect for Bhai Sahib is clear in a poem they wrote about Bhai Sahib: ।੭੭ ।। The amount of respect and love Sant Jee had for Bhai Sahib is clear in this poem. Calling Bhai Sahib a Sant, writing about the sacrifices Bhai Sahib made and still kept Sarbloh Bibek. Dhan Guroo Ke Pyare. Another time, Bhai Joginder Singh Jee (Talwara) invited Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee to their house for an Akhaand Paat Sahib, Talwara Jee told Sant Jee the Bhog would be after Mundavnee and Raagmala would not be read. Still Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee came and did Katha after the Bhog. Gursikhs like Sant Gurbachan Singh didn`t care when Bhog was, as long as it was one with piaar. They knew that those that do not believe in Raag mala only do not believe in it because of their piaar for Guru Jee. Today we see Sikhs getting into physical fights over these issues. Another story that comes to mind is the amount of Love Sant Kartar Singh had for Bhai Jeevan Singh and the other Jatha Singhs at the time. Whenever Bhai Jeevan Singh Jee came to Mehta for Rainsbhai Keertans Sant Kartar Singh would spread his Hazooria on the ground and get Bhai Sahib to sit on it and then would serve Bhai Sahib langar. Master Niranjan Singh a Keertani from the Akhand Keertani Jatha says in a video recording that every year the Jatha used to go to Mehta, the headquarters of the Damdami Taksal to the Barsi Smagam of Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee, they would do Keertan and other seva. The Taksali Singhs would show a lot of love and one could not differentiate between who was a Taksali Singh and who was a Jatha Singh. The Taksali Singhs never once brought up the issue of Raagmala. Sant Kartar Singh used to organize Nagar Keertans and the Jatha used to go to them to do Keertan. The Taksal owned a car, and Sant Kartar Singh used to make the Jatha Singhs sit on top of the car, rather than walk. So much love between these Gursikhs. During the 1980s when Sant Jarnail Singh was the Head of the Taksal, the Taksal was invited by the Jatha to an Akhaand Paat Sahib, so Sant Jarnail Singh and some of the Taksali singhs went to the Bhog. When the Bhog was done at Mundavnee one of the Taksali Singhs shouted out,”Oh aren’t you going to read Raag Mala?” Sant Jarnail Singh took this Singh outside and slapped him, and told him “Everything was going so peacefully, so much Anand, why did you ruin that Anand by shouting that out!” This was the love Gursikhs had for each other. We should all aspire to create this ekta in the Panth!

  2. If one Sikh shouts in a crowd their voice will be drowned out, but if we all shout then that voice will have to be heard. Take this programme, http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01g6gf1 The story of the turban, It was quite an informative programme however it was shown on a wednesday late at night, I made a complaint to the BBC saying it was shown at a time when few people could watch it. Now nothing gets done if one person complains but if you all take two minutes to do the same then the BBC would need to listen, Please take the two minutes it takes to do the same using this link https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/?reset=#anchor

  3. I also find it interesting how Hindus of Punjab have suddenly found their love of Punjabi but rejected the language in the 60's... I really don't think the phrase "Hindu Punjabi" is applicable to the group no longer... they lost that when they rejected the Punjabi language in favour of Hindi... ^^^ Totally agree, everyone is now jumping on the Punjabi bandwagon... all of sudden they now have a punjabi grandma or great grandad which makes them Punjabi by just saying "Chak de phateh" and "balle balle" :blink2: Delhi/Haryana especially is now full of these Hindi speaking Punjabi wannabe's

  6. Imagine an atheist. Not just an atheist but a smart atheist. An atheist who could do all the bad things in the world by justifying them with every kind of explanation. Would he even be helped by anything? What would it take for him to be turned into a believer? For me it was an event where I was saved from the worst possible place on earth. I wont disclose much but Shaheed Singhs do exist. I have seen them. I have felt the energy around them. Its undescribable. The difference is believing in something that you have no reason to. Young Singhs with a neela bana. I dont know what I can do to return the favor. But ever since I've felt the blow of the kirpaan I've leaned towards Guru ghar and came into Sikhi saroop.

  7. Obviously I support the armed struggle and believe in Khalistan but I also believe in arming yourself with knowledge before jumping the gun. The path Sikhs walk is as Guru Amar Das Ji says: KMinAhu iqKI vwlhu inkI eyqu mwrig jwxw ] kha(n)niahu thikhee vaalahu nikee eaeth maarag jaanaa || The path they take is sharper than a two-edged sword, and finer than a hair. Remember that even the smallest action makes the biggest difference. Getting all pumped up and doing something out of josh isn't what Sikhs do. Sikhs are Sant Sipahee and when the time comes go through Bir Rass in battle but are also highly educated. We should be humble and be honest in our lack of knowledge in history, social issues and the movement in general and strive to know more in hopes to empower ourselves to actually make Khalistan - whether it be diplomatically or in the future through johr.

  9. Khalsa Ji Halal also means Hak Halal I.e. honest earnings , not deceitful earnings. Any vegetarian product that says Halal means "produced through honest business" it does not mean Halal as in Halal meat. With regards to your second question ask your Aatma , what does your Aatma say when you ask yourself this question?

  11. with reheaas. there are 5 parts to it so dar, so purakh, benti chaupi, anand sahib, and mundavani.. each part can be extended as much as u want, but never reduced. (as always). its good to have a base.. btw, yes, bani is good to do lots. but it guruG has said, that within one matra of gurbani, we can tar, then, its best to spent the time in meditation on each akhar. :D so just by doing lots of banis, its not the answer. the veechaar in the bani, is the thing. and its all on the shabad. anhad shaabad, aka dargaahi keertan. the 5 bania have so much power, and the 5 sections in reheraas. but sumtimes, wen we start in amrit (after becoming amritdhari), or start doing the 5 bania, we cannot access the power.. hence, we need to do alot more bania. slowly, the power will be felt. this is the whole reason we do shabad jaap of a shabad in bani.. or in keertan.. in bani, sumtimes, pl say its good to do 40 / 41 etc days... thas cuz thats the time that it shud take you to get that bani inside yourself. or, thats the time that the bani takes to reach as deep as it can inside you. whatever level your avastha (spiritual level) is on. partakh mahapurash are a different story.. they are one with god, and are the saroop of shabad.. but this, sum ppl myt not understand totally.. but its ok.. this bit dont matter all that much.. my point is, doing lots of bani helps. but this doesnt mean that if sum 1 just do the 5 bania, they are less than ppl who do lots of bania. however, doing bani, gives you gifts that must be treated with respect. and thus, these gifts are to be used to further oneself in their avastha. and depending on how much u vibrate with the shabad, the vibration lasts xyz period of time.. if your guru G is thert with you, well u defo know that the vibration will be there. and never ending so yh.. most prob the reason why they dodnt do prayers int he day time.. or, they were just in battels :PP and, the point that we do bani in morning, is that so we ahave the rest of the day free to get on with what we are supposed to do.. as in, go along with the world, but not get into it. kamaa the universe, but be ready to giv it back to guru G.. >sub saump gur ko < fateh G

  12. waheguru ji...... eating meat, halal, beaf, pork or whatever different words used for different animals to eat and differentiate between them......is meat and not acceptable....... secondly.....whatever you see with your eyes... for sure you'll think of it again and again in your mind....mann......and this will pollute your thinking and this thinking when overpower you will become your actions....your karams........watching is a karam as well which gets wriiten down and you'll have to answer for that....................having relationship with opposite sex is not prohibited in sikhism....it;s allowed only after anand karaj / marriage............feeding your senses by watching will make one a lusty person and every person is judged by the way he/she thinks..........if the thinking is polluted...everything is polluted.......banda ohi banada...jo kuch oh sochda hai.........and alsoo this will never let you move forward to a gursikhi jeewan.....once you get addicted...it's hard to get away....... if you will see Guru ji's saroop (mann ch vasauna) and think of HIM all day and night ...and have love for him...you'll become a gursikh........and Guru ji will love you as well....

  13. Narrow minded individuals that parrot the same thing again and again do harm to the Khalistan movement. Speak softly and carry a big stick. That's what our people are lacking. Action, not just posting on an online forum lol

  14. ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ The Importance of Larreevaar http://gurmatbodh.bl...larreevaar.html Khalsa Jee when it comes to respecting Gurbani the highest form of respect we can give our Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee is accept its True Form, which is the Larreevaar Form. For those that do not know what Larreevaar is: it is how Gurbani was originally written by our Gurus. Instead of there being spaces in between each word, all the words are connected for example like this: The above picture is from A Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee written in the 18th Century. A Pad Chhed saroop (Pad Chhed is when the words are split up) looks like this: Whatever the Guru did is for our betterment, it is to help us. So when the Guru Decided to write Gurbani in Larreevaar Format, it was up to the Guru to decide and it is up to us to believe and follow that command of the Guru: ਸਤਿਗੁਰਕੀਬਾਣੀਸਤਿਸਤਿਕਰਿਜਾਣਹੁਗੁਰਸਿਖਹੁ O GurSikhs, know that the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, is true, absolutely true. Whatever Guru Jee does is perfect, because he himself is perfect: ਪੂਰੇਕਾਕੀਆਸਭਕਿਛੁਪੂਰਾਘਟਿਵਧਿਕਿਛੁਨਾਹੀ ॥ All that the Perfect Lord does is perfect; there is not too little, or too much So for a Gursikh it is natural to accept what the Guru has done, and not change anything. Guru Sahib gave us Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee which is perfect nothing can be added on and nothing can be taken out. So when Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee are printed and they are not Larreevaar it is a great disrespect to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. We are telling Guru Jee, sorry Guru Jee, we didn’t like how you were originally, so we changed you. Can you imagine going up to Guru Nanak Dev Jee and saying Guru Jee sorry but your kes are getting too long, here can you cut them a little bit so I will like them? NO! Such an act is horrendous to even think about then, how can we go up to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee who is the very light of Guru Nanak Dev Jee and say hey Guru Jee you are too hard to read (Larreevaar as all the words are joined) it would be much easier for me if the words were split up. When we do this we are committing a big sin! Nothing is worse than disrespecting your Guru. So for this reason it is a humble appeal to Gursikhs to only do Parkash of your True Guru, Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaj in their True form, of Larreevaar. If only we take a stance against the printing and doing Parkash of Pad Chhed will this epidemic stop. It is not wrong to say that Larreevaar Saroop is our true Guru, because it is. Our Guru is the saroop that was given Gurta Gaddi in 1708 by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee, which is Larreevaar. So for a Gursikh to say that only Larreevaar is the True Guru and not Pad Chhed is only the truth and nothing else. Pad Chhed Saroops are deserving of respect as they still contain Gurbani, but they cannot be called our Guru. Sant Giani Kartar Singh Jee Khalsa Bhindranwale 13th Jathedar of the Damdami Taksal whilst doing Katha says says that doing Pad Chhed of Gurbani is "Atyant Mana Hai", and says that "eh manmat hai, eh nahee karnee chaeedee". They say this practice is extremely forbidden, these words are reminiscent of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Jee's words who said that doing Pad Chhed is "Maha Manmat". If such amazing Gursikhs like Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Jee and Sant Giani Kartar Singh Jee were so against this disease of Pad Chhed then we should put all our efforts into stopping Parkash of Pad Chhed and doing Parkash of only Larreevaar, which is our True Guru! May Guru Jee bless the Panth with the ability to only do Parkash of Larreevaar Saroops. For Further information regarding Larreevaar Saroops please refer to the following: http://www.tapoban.org/article/51 http://tapoban.org/T...20is%20Lost.pdf http://www.gurmatbib...nts.php?id=1931 Vaahiguroojeekakhalsa Vaahiguroojeekeefateh

  17. Focus on your education, play sports and study Gurbani. If you still have time then learn keertan or Gatka. Get a professional degree and a professional job, and then get married to a Singh appropriate for you. Its upto you whether you want your parents to find you one. Forget about this relationship garbage. You are just 17, a dangerous age, so best to focus on studies for now and get good grades. Having a boyfriend is something non-Amritdharis do, you said you are Amritdhari, so you can't get into this stuff. I know initially it all may seem pure, but at your age it doesn't take too long to turn impure. padhaayi ch dhiyaan de putt...agge jaake mundeyaan di koi ghaat ni rehni fer...saari umer kari jaayi chatting ohne sammne bithhaake

  18. Every week some Amritdhari has this issue on the gupt section. It getting sad to see The Piteous State of Today's Sikh Youth If we notice a Gursikh, who has taken Amrit of Guru Sahib and becomes so attracted to the member of opposite sex that he (or she) can only think of her and can't live without her, then surely such person was never in love with Guru Sahib. Every now and then we hear of a Gursikh brother or sister, shamelessly declaring that he or she will die unless he or she marries such and such person. How did a Gursikh end up at such stage? Wasn't he an Amritdhari to begin with? How did he violate such a strict order of Guru Sahib of considering other-women as mothers, sisters and daughters? Our youth now-a-days has reached such state that it has no hesitation or shame before openly communicating with the members of opposite sex. Today they start chatting with someone, tomorrow they start sharing their problems with each other, the day after tomorrow they develop feelings for each other and soon they are going out. Even at Kirtan Samagams where countless Gurmukhs are engaged in praising the true Lord, some of the misled youth are overcome with Aashiqaana feelings (Amorous feelings). The high, impregnable character of Khalsa youth has taken such a beating. Today if you look around, you can count on your fingertips such individuals who have not been stained by entering into relationships before marriage. The Internet has really shrunk the world. Today, if something occurs in the Sikh community in one country, it quickly spreads across the globe. If a young male or female commits an act of transgression, then the reputation of such individual is stained for life. Once one's character gets stained, it's hard to build it back. Gursikhs must rise above the Maya of this world and maintain strong Khalsa character. The time of marriage and the partner for life has already been chosen by Vaheguru. So relax and stop hunting for your life partner on your own. A Sikh youth who keeps strong character, keeps Sikhi Rehit is always in demand as far as marriage is concerned. A youth who starts hunting for a life partner on his own, soon gets his character stained and before he or she realizes, it's too late. No one is saying that we should become a segregated society like the Muslims and keep Purdah and don't talk with each other at all. What's required is to know our limits. Far too many Kaam-related mistakes are being committed by our youth because of their proximity to members of opposite sex. May Guru Sahib do Kirpa and enable his Sikhs to keep a strong moral character on which Guru Sahib can be proud of.
