Sardar Kapur Singh was spot on , as a member of the ICS he saw first hand how Gandhi and Nehru were planning the destruction of the Sikhs.Unfortunately our ineffective leadership who sold the panth for the smallest of favours did not listen. We saw many of our Jathabandis and Sants for what they are during the Gurbaksh Singh action for their lack of support. We as Sikhs have a rich and beautiful history with many many beautiful Sakhis, historical events that are so inspiring for everyone. When explaining non Sikhs about Sikh history, one can't go into details about all the good that happened between 1469 and now; we have to select a few Sakhis to 'hold their interest'. If you had to choose 3 or 5 incidents from all of Sikh ithaas to tell a non Sikh briefly, what would those be? I would definitely include a brief explanation of Guru Nanak Sahibs Udaasis, Shahadat of 9th Patshah for human rights, Bhai Kanhaiya Jis Sakhi and Jassa Singh rescuing 2200 kidnapped Hindu women.

More probing is needed as to what happened and or if force was necessary justified or not: If he did it in dire self defense then he should be set free. If he did it in pure anger unjustified force, he should be charged with 2nd degree murder If he did it in with intent of damage which lead to death he should be charged with manslaughter. Under the circumstance I wouldn't condemn the Singh as wrong. One needs to take some points into consideration. As mentioned by Jaspreet Singh Jee, the Singh did not use the Kirpan in the initial confrontation when it was one on one. Then when he was attacked by the entire gang he still did not use his Kirpan. It is only when they added salt to the wound by doing beadbi of his Dastar that all limit was surpassed. A kirpan is used as a last resort to protect the pat izzat of women, defenseless people, Sikhi and one's own life. The Dastar of a Sardar is representative of the entire Panth's izzat. When people dare to touch the dastar of a Sikh, then he is just asking for it. Secondly, Sikhs here need to understand that this incident did not happen in the west where fights only result in a bruise or two. This is India. In India such fights very often lead to breaking of bones and even death especially when one person is being attacked and beaten by a mob. So the use of a Kirpan where one person is being attacked by a number of people is perfectly justified. We don't know the Singh's side of the story. So far they are reporting the mob's side of the story. They are all trying to act Sache and shareef by saying they were taking him to the police. If they were going to take him to the police then why were they beating him and even taking off his Dastar? Seems to me like a pack of Hyanas attacked a lone lion, but they didn't expect the lion to fight back which he did.

He had captured, tortured and then done a fake encounter of Kulwant Singh Nagoke and Gurmit Singh Dhulkot besides also terrorizing people in Daonte Village. Some say this Dusht was killed by two Singhs named Major Singh and Ram Singh because Atwal ordered Swaran Ghotna to strip and parade a Dalit girl in the village of Daonke in order to pressure her brother to surrender himself. While some are of the opinion that he was killed by the third agency created by Indira Gandhi to make her case stronger for the attack on Darbar Sahib. And his body was left there for 2 hours not 2 days!
