  1. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B39vxC8IGIWFbTlST1ctX2psdEk/edit While doing research at a university in Medina, Mushtaq Hussein came across a handwritten manuscript, Siyahto Baba Nanak Fakir, in a library. This manuscript was written by an Arabic and Persian writer named Taajudin Naqshabandhi. Taajudin joined Guru Nanak in his journey around Undlas, a town between Erar and Baghdad. While living with Guru Nanak, he kept a diary—the Siyahto Baba Nanak Fakir manuscript—which he submitted to the library in Medina around 1512 AD. This suggests that Guru Nanak Dev Ji was in the Middle East—in Mecca and Baghdad—for roughly one-and-a-half to two years in and around the years 1511 to 1513 AD. Upon his return to Mirpur in 1930, Mushtaq was deeply saddened by communal violence stoked in Kashmir by Sheikh Abdulla’s supporters, and in Jammu, by his own father, Mujafar Hussain. In this region, the Sikh Guruduara of Kirtangarh was made the target of arson and destruction. This guruduara was constructed by Sant Baba Sunder Singh to care for the congregation and to promote education. Rioters fueled by feelings of animosity towards Dogra ruler Maharaja Pratap Singh made the Sikh community their first target. Witnessing the destruction first hand, Mushtaq was troubled by these acts of persecution in the name of Islam. His appeals for peace fell on deaf ears. Mushtaq had been touched by Taajudin’s accounts of Guru Nanak’s journeys, which were intended to promote the welfare of all humanity. Through these same accounts, he had also seen the ugly face of religious fanaticism, which resulted in the torture and death of Rukn-ud-din, a respected religious leader of Kaaba. Disappointed, Mushtaq decided to leave for Lahore with his wife, Gulzar Begum, and his son, Mohamad Nazir. At Lahore, he initially studied the Arya Samaj sect, and then Christianity. Finally, he researched Sikhism carefully at the gurudwara built at the site of Guru Arjun Dev ji’s martyrdom. It was at this guruduara that he received Khande di Pahul (Sikh initiation) from Giani Achhar Singh (later Singh Sahib Achhar Singh), after many persistent appeals to the Giani. Mushtaq became a Sikh on the fourth of Jeth(a month in the Indian calendar which roughly corresponds to May/June) in 1935, and later achieved renown as Sant Syed Prithipal Singh of Patiala. He dedicated his life in the service of the Panth.

  3. In a 55-minute long video, al Qaeda announced it will launch a new branch in the Indian subcontinent. Speaking in the video, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri said the purpose is to "wage jihad against its enemies, to liberate its land, to restore its sovereignty, and to revive its Caliphate." ISIS 'more deadly' than al Qaeda on 9/11 Al Qaeda working on 'undetectable bombs' Will ISIS and al-Qaeda join forces? How did ISIS rise to power? Al-Zawahiri also said he seeks to gain support "for the vulnerable" in Myanmar and Bangladesh; in the Indian states of Assam and Gujarat; and in Kashmir, the disputed region between India and Pakistan. He called for "rescue" from "injustice, oppression, persecution, and suffering" in these areas. Some analysts view al Qaeda's announcement as an indication they're struggling for followers as ISIS gains support in the global Islamist movement. Peter Bergen, CNN's national security analyst called the video "hyperventilation and posturing." "It's al-Zawahiri's obvious way of getting some of the limelight back," he said as ISIS has moved front and center. The Indian government is trying to confirm the video's authenticity, said Amarendra Tiwari, an official with India's Ministry of Home Affairs. The security alert has been issued in parts of India, although details were not given. The al Qaeda video is unlikely to win over constituents, said Bernard Haykel, professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University, about the India announcement. "They are losing a lot of constituents to the Islamic State," he said. "They're trying to show their global reach as an organization, but I'm not sure of exactly what sign they are trying to send." If ISIS undermines al Qaeda, "it's going to affect funding," said Ajit Singh, senior fellow at South Asia Terrorism Portal in New Delhi. The radicalized Muslims are more likely to fund ISIS. "That's why al Qaeda is trying to increase its influence," he said. Singh says it's not al Qaeda's first time trying to gain a foothold in India. India, a predominantly Hindu nation, has a 13% Muslim population, according to the country's census. Inter-religious relations have become tense before. In 2002, Gujarat was wracked with anti-Muslim violence, in which more than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, were killed. Most of the world's Muslims live in Asia, with about 1 billion in Asia-Pacific and about 322 million in the Middle East and North Africa, according to the Pew Research Center. The style of al Qaeda's latest video also highlights a stylistic difference with ISIS, which are often shot in the light during daytime, noted Peter Bergen, CNN's national security analyst. "Al-Zawahiri's video is boring, talking into the camera," he said. "ISIS videos are well-edited and dynamic." http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/04/world/asia/al-qaeda-india/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

  4. >>> agree, the oath of a soldier has been taken since time, however I do not understand how you describe it as "sacred" as you yourself have stated that in essence, a soldier is just there to kill on order! So how can this based on man made political agenders and situations be "sacred" if it results inevitably in the bloodshed of soldiers and civilians over maya? How can you call this "sacred" and then slander the meat eater? Krishna counselled Arjan as he found it difficult to commit the ultimate act of what he was meant to do as a soldier, kill other human beings, this war was fought for again, power and rule? How is that "sacred" and justified? It is only the fauj of Akal purakh waheguru, the Khalsa fauj what does not fight for maya. The oath if the Khalsa is the only real "sacred" oath.I support all my sikh brothers and sisters who wish to be vegetarian and vegan, however I don't appreciate then to be told I am commiting kurehat, as it is important for the vegetarian and vegan sikh to remember if the wish not to consume meat, then the question arises around the use of it's by products. As you stated, the slaughterer of the animal, the butcherer of the meat, the consumer of the meat will all have a percentage of bad karam on the death of this animal, however you forgot about the user of the by product! The tabla/nagara/sarangi master in the gurus divan, the Amrit Chak sister who plasters her face with animal fat (make up) over her lips and in her eyes, the person who has ill health and consumes medication which contains animal by products, the sikh who carries their Kirpan in a leather sheath.......the list goes on, lol! So do you think, as a vegetarian it is then ok to use the by product of an animal, because someone else had done the dirty work for you (the killing) and it's not your paap? The sikh who performs jhatka and consumes the animal and uses all it's carcass within their own home is very different to the mass meat market around the world. These are two separate issues. When you perform jhatka, the animal does not die. That's a very semetical viewpoint, the nirgun/Sargun roop of Akal purakh cannot die, the ruu of the animal simply moves on, the Mann leaves the tann, the tann merges back with the living body of another living tann as nourishment and the mann moves forward. The statements you have made as fact can be questioned by sikh ithiaas, sikh granths and the Akal takhat maryada. If a sikh should not eat meat, then let's all go to the Akal takhat and get the rehat maryada mended so no one then has to question this practice. I believe in one maryada for all, but have no problem with my vegetarian and vegan brothers and sisters. As one day we may have to stand on a battlefield and take up arms as once our shaheed Singh and singhnia have done and kill the opposing army, as the gurus Khalsa! WJKK WJKF

  5. We endlessly debate issues and we start going down to minute detail (in essence there is nothing wrong in that), what if this, what if that, what if the other, what we forget, conveniently, is to actually walk the walk. For God sake guys, WALK the WALK. Do it! Get that simran going, get that naam going, see Akaal in EVERYONE, forget the naffrat, the vheer, the viroodh, love God, love Him like your life depended on it. And you know what, Guru Ji will assist you in all things, all these questions that your maan sprouts up to distract you, all will become shaant, all will become peaceful and then you will know the truth. But all we do is argue and argue, we never go near the practical. It is like the group of guys who were arguing, one side saying mool mantar completes at jap, while the other argued it completed at Nanak Hosi Bhi satch. Some one asked , you have been arguing for an hour now, which of you actually does any simran to Jap or to Nanak hosi bhi satch ? None spoke. Okay, firstly, we will have to answer for every action we take, every action. All is being recorded as we speak. We have devices now that record our every move and we upload to the net. Those souls in Dhargah, are a thousand times wiser then those on earth, their devices are not physical but they record everything none the less. Yes, we will have to answer for our meat eating and sharaab drinking and leering and swearing and mouthing off. Also if animals suffer then we are all responsible. All that suffering gets distributed and we all get a share. Why are none of us happy any more? Why do we suffer from new and chronic illnesses? why are our relationships with those around us going down the drain? Loomk around you people bombing their own, atrocities , so much why? because we are all paying for our misdeeds here right now. And then we will be judged what is left over, and boy is there some left over! What ever we eat if it is has bad stuff in it, if the animal suffered then yes we will pay, we are paying. This jaggat is jallandha - on fire! Meat eaters are the same, overweight full or cholesterol, most meat eaters drink with big barrel tummies. When you become a soldier you take an oath to fight for your country. This oath is not new, this oath or similar type has been going on for time immemorial . This oath is sacred, in the olden times from Mahabharat , the fighting caste took it as a sign of honour and this is recognised in dhargah. You fight and you kill because that is your duty. As a soldier it is your duty to fight. Bhagwan Krishan Ji gives this lesson to Arjan in mid battle - it is your duty to fight and if necessary, to die in battle. You cannot influence decisions that politicians make, your duty is that when you are called to fight you fight.

  9. Its all over not just in India. They feel embarrassed by saying waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh. They look at you like you've said something wrong. They prefer to say 'sat sri akaal' but can't even say that properly and say 'sass ree kaal'.

  11. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Yeah...everyone wait for XXX Singh/Kaur or YYY Avtar to come and save them. First, if any Gursikh came back to the world/from hiding/alternate dimension/Costco/Kmart/Tesco's (Sant Baba Maha Harnam Singh Ji/Sant Jarnail Singh Ji included and for examples), can you imagine the conversation. Let's pretend the Sikh is surrounded by other Sikhs in the below conversation. Sikh: Baba Ji, you have returned to us!! (Sikhs look on with wide smiles and hopes in their hearts). Baba Ji: Yes, Gursikho - by the Hukam of Akaal Purakh, I have returned. Sikh: BOLE SO NIHAAL!!! LEAD US TO SACHKHAND AND ESTABLISH KHALSA RAAJ!!! (Other Sikhs join in on Jakara). Baba Ji: Uhhh...ok...(puzzled at the enthusiasm) Gurmukho, how have you maintained your Sikhi? Have you kept Rehat? Are you getting up at Amritvela? Do you do Simran/Nitnem/seva? How about the other Sikhs around you? Sikh: (Sikhs nervously look around at each other)...BABA JI...SAVE US!! WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR RETURN!! Baba Ji: Answer the question! What have you been doing since I was not here? Have you done Sehaj Paath? Something? Sikh: (Sikhs lower their gaze to the ground) No Ji. We awaited your return and now that you are here (hopeful looks return), EVERYTHING IS FIXED. BOLE SO... . Baba Ji: (Interrupts Jakara). So...you haven't done ANYTHING since I left? Sikh: Well...I mean we went to Gurudwara, had langar and talked about your arrival...(Sikhs murmur to each other). Baba Ji: So...you don't get up at Amritvela, don't keep Rehat and don't do any Paath/Seva? Sikh: ...well...no...I mean I personally try to get up at Amritvela and fall asleep, I do Nitnem when I do get up and I go to Nagar Keertans...(more murmurings and general agreement with the Sikh's statement). Baba Ji: ??? So instead of following the Hukam of the Punj Pyare and Gurbani, which tell you to be a better Sikh and improving your own lives, you...waited for MY ARRIVAL??? YOU HAVE THE EVER PRESENT ETERNAL GURU THIS ENTIRE TIME!!! WHAT AM I COMPARED TO GURU SAHIB??? YOU HAVE ALL TEN GURUS PRESENT WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES AND YOU ARE DEPENDING ON HIS POOR SIKH TO LEAD YOU TO SACHKHAND AND KHALSA RAAJ? Sikh: ...but Baba Ji...you have returned...so and so Bhai Sahib said you would come back... Baba Ji: Oh Gursikha - the Guru is the same, the Punj Pyare are the same, the Sun is the same, the moon is the same, but how the Sikh has changed. Where the true Gursikhs would rely upon the Guru and maintain the Rehat given to them by the Punj Pyare, there are now many who would forsake all of that and wait for another to arrive and fix everything. Guru Kirpa Karan... <Awkward silence follows. Baba Ji goes off doing Mool Mantar Jaap and gets ready to do evening Nitnem.> Words of Sant Hardev Singh (Loolo Vale): Sangat Ji, we talk of Bhai Suthra, who had Darshan of 4 Guru Sahiban. We talk of Baba Buddha, who had Darshan of 6 Guru Sahiban. But how unlucky are we that we have the Darshan of ALL TEN Guru Sahiban here in the Gurudwara and we do not understand it. Sikhi was meant to take the lowest of the low and make them highest of the high, to where the Guru gave his very image to his Sikhs and praised them through his own compositions. Don't rely on others to do what you yourself have to do.

  12. If such a VOTE OF INDEPENDENCE is demanded in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab - there will be a mass scale GENOCIDE of respective regional people living in other parts of India ... Alex Salmond resigns from the post of First Minister of Scotland - Salute to him, he went for this referendum from the bottom of his heart, took the defeat of referendum as personal defeat. 40 years ago, Prakash Singh Badal burnt Constitution of India OVER ARTICLE 25, Anandpur Sahib resolution, capital city of Chandigarh, waters of PUNJAB. None of Punjab demands fulfilled till date, HOWEVER Prakash Singh Badal is KING today with net worth of over INR 50,000 CRORE. I have never seen Prakash Singh Badal fighting for any Sikh or Punjab cause and offering to resign the way ALEX SALMOND did. SALUTE again to ALEX SALMOND, did an honest and passionate attempt for independence. Had Prakash Singh Badal made even 10% of such attempt, history would had been different ...

  13. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Bhai Sahib Jasbir Singh Khalsa used to have principles of doing parchar. The one that I actually remember was "Elaakae Di Sambhaal" - managing your are. Our concept of parchar is somewhat backward. We have this expectation that some great leader will emerge and save the Panth in one fell swoop. While the Almighty is certainly capable of doing that (and anything), we have to understand that the sustained, continuous effort goes from the smallest unit upwards. Each step below will impact the next step. Completely agree: It all starts from home (and yourself). 1) Self - sort yourself out - Mun Jeetai, Jug Jeet - if you are able to control your own mind, you can conquer the world. While this is a VERY HIGH state to totally conquer the mind, your own adherence to Sikhi - being an Amritdhari Gursikh, following Rehat and Gurbani, is key to having an impact on family. 2) Family - if you, as a family, make a concerted effort to support each other, you will establish a fortress of Sikhi in your own home. Bhai Gurdas Sahib says that 1 Sikh is a Sikh, 2 Sikhs are Sadh Sangat and 5 are Punji Parmeshwar. Even if just husband and wife, your efforts to support each other will stand as an example to the community. 3) Sikh Community - as your family works in the local Sikh community, you stand as a beacon by which the community can be inspired. Simply going to the Gurudwara, sitting in Sangat and being a Sikh will inspire others. Do seva in the Gurudwara, participate in the Paath, Keertan, be involved in community service. 4) Inter-community - various local communitiy events - nagar keertans, Keertan divans, Akhand Paaths - your Gursikh community, by attending events together. The local Gursikh community can be an inspiration for other communities and drive forth their desires to become better Gursikhs. Notwithstanding Gurudwara committees and personal ego to become roadblocks - they will always be present. Principle of Kalyug is to try to prevent Gurmat from spreading - being diligent, patient and true to Sikhi can overcome this.
