  1. my pard nana ji always told my mum if someone has told you there is something in your hand that is not good all you need to do is uttde avda haath dekh ke waheguru simran karo , waheguru ji will change your lekh . i can attest to this being true as i've done it and seen change . i have heard from sant mahapursh that the gurmukh becomes outside the influence of planets, etc as they serve and rely only on Akal Purakh ji , whereas the manmukh gets affected more so.

  2. Its not that we do not want them to live in their own muslim area's thats exactly what we want them to do, to live amoungst themselves and away from us non-muslims. The problem is that they come into our Sikh or other non-muslim area's slowly one by one in order to eventually take it over. So yes they do live to live in Sikh dominated area's not because they love to live with us but to take advantage of our safer hard working community neighborhoods with a view to eventually overrun it. So wherever you flee to, eventually the islamic question the islamic problem will come to your doorstep even if it isnt there yet eventually within 10-20years your area too will be overrun by muslims unless its somewhere out in the countryside or some sleepy far off town no one wants to live in except the elderly or rich. The amount of muslim migrants and refugee's that the west allows in is disgusting. All muslim immigration should have been stopped 30years ago because the demographics trend is that the poor countries around the world are mostly muslim dominated and so naturally they would want to migrate to richer non-muslim lands because islam is a failed economic ideology. They produce huge amounts of children and then feed of the state in the west contributing little or nothing for the nation.

  3. When muslims have 50+ countries over 1 .3 billion population and huge rich governments of iran, saudi, turkey, central asian republics, gulf states, etc and muslims and commanded to only give charity to muslim causes via zakat. Why are our very few Sikh charity organisations wasting our very limited financial and manpower resources helping non-sikhs in far off non-sikh lands where the people have no interest in Sikhs or sikhism and would not come to our aid if we ever get in trouble as in 1984 proved. Sikhs 30 million population, no country to our name and struggling religious minority fighting for faith and nation since 1947 due the treacherous dogs of sikh leadership who continually sold the kaum out. christian aid they have 3 billion christian population rich western countries and vatican bank chuch isnt helping rohingya, hindus have 1 billion population they never helped non-hindus charity causes ever. Rohingya will be helped by their muslim breathin eventually there is no doubt about that. Us Sikhs do not need to go off on far off adventures to far off places aimlessly if are not there to help the people embrace sikhi with parchar. Question is why is khalsa aid continuing to pursue non-sikh charity causes when there's plenty of causes within the Sikh community that needs urgent attention and help but no help is given. (ie afghan Sikhs dwindling population due to persecution and discrimination, pakistani sikhs struggling financial hardships, indian sikhs in deep poverty and struggling especially families of Shaheeds killed by govt violence). Whats the agenda? foreign adventures? collecting money? Ravi singh is doing a great job showing he is a humanitarian and at promoting the humanitarian side of Sikhi which is great however, where is his and his orgs priorities? They seem to be lost in my view.

  6. Good of you to bring up this episode. It shows that putting the women of a enemy (defeated or not) into sexual slavery, as allowed in the Koran, is not allowed in Sikhism. Yet, this episode is not recorded in Guru Granth Sahib, and this fact underlines the importance of sources outside Gurbani for Sikhism. Those Sikhs who mistakenly think that Sikhi consists of Guru Granth Sahib and only Guru Granth Sahib ji are asked to re-evaluate their position. (I'm not saying you believe this.) Could you post the relevant texts from these sources? Thanks. Agreed. Any Sikh who is accord with historic Sikhism as passed onto us by our Gurus and preserved through the years orally and in our history would never think to enslave another human being. Could you post a few if you have them handy? Again, these are sources outside of Gurbani, but that's OK, because Guru Sahib asked us to listen to these outside sources (with discernment, of course): ਬਾਬਾਣੀਆ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਪੁਤ ਸਪੁਤ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥ “The stories of one’s ancestors make the children good children.” (Ang 951) and ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰ ॥ Listen to the stories of the devotees, O my mind, and meditate with love. ੩ Raag Basant Guru Arjan Dev, p 1192 (The Sakhis listed are those of "non-Sikhs".) Another great quote from outside of Gurbani.

  10. SikhMentors is a US based career mentoring program that matches high school students with mentors in the industry of their choice. The initiative helps to bridge the gap between students and the real world. Are you looking for someone to help with the university application process? Are you looking for help in choosing a career? The pilot program is designed to help high school students with the university application process, guide them through university entrance exams (SAT, MCAT, LSAT etc.) and support them in finding meaningful careers. Students are paired with mentors working or studying in fields such as engineering, law, medicine etc. Mentors and mentees will discuss upfront the expectations and needs for the program. They will meet at least once a quarter for a year (in person or virtually) to discuss issues such as entrance exams, scholarships, qualifications, skills, career paths etc. For mentors, it is a chance to give back to the community and help students grow in their field. For mentees, it is a great opportunity to learn from active professionals how to: Prepare for university entrance exams and fill university applications (essays, extra-curricular activities, recommendation letters etc.) Explore career options, and Acquire skills and training in your field of choice Source - http://sikhmentors.com

  11. Though you will not like what I am going to tell you, nevrtheless I will voice my opinion: APART FROM WAHIGURU AKAL PURUKH, THERE ARE NO BETTER WELLWISHERS/BENEFACTORS/GUARDIANS, IN THE WHOLE WORLD THAN ONE´S PARENTS. It is your inmaturity which is troubling you and creating confusion in you. Be a good obedient child, love them, hug them. What kind of people are we? How ungrateful we are? For a short time relationship with some outsider, we are betraying those who gave us birth, who have loved us with each breath of theirs from our very first day? Who have not thought of themselves, and sacrificed their lives for us, and made us as their first priority in all senses? Just keep in mind, if you disrespect or abuse your parents, then there will be nobody to help you find shelter from inviting disgrace upon disgrace on yourself. Sat Sree Akal.

  12. Brother Guest Singh Jee, there is no doubt that Sache Patsha listens what one speaks, because He is not someone far in the skies above clouds ... For He is very much right within us, so He sees all that we do or say. We may do something and hide from people, but He for sure sees it. About your question of if He will listen to your ardaas to unite you or bring you closer to the girl you like now, I think you want to say, if He will accept that your desire? Though you are young, but let me be frank with you without hiding anything or trying in diverting your attention towards other activities to dilute your thoughts on this specific question, after that, it is your choice how you act upon. First of all, all our relations be them of any type with anyone, are all product of our past karam, nothing happens accidently in that sense. So if she is written in your destiny, whether you want or not, she will surely come. Wahiguru respects very muchthe law of karma established by He Himself, He does not goes against it like a corrupted bribed politicians, who modify laws to favor some others. Secondly, if it is your intense desire in having her as your partner whether now or later, and she is not meant for you in this life, then brother you have created a desire within you, which Mother Nature will fulfill it for sure, and that means, you are bound to remain in the cycle of births and deaths to see that your intense desire fulfilled. Better, leave yourself to His Bhaana, and do the ardaas of wanting Him above all things, in wanting to love Him, in wanting to not forgetting Him even for a second. You see every other thing apart from His bhakti is written in our destiny much before we are born. So brother, gather as much bhakti as possible in this present life, because it is only this treasure, this"real dhan", this real relatioship of mutual eternal love, which shall free you from the mayavee creation and unite with our beloved Wahiguru Akal Purukh. If there is any one real relationship for which me must care, that is the one with Wahiguru, all other relations are dependendant on karmas. to some we leave before, some betray us , or some leave us after. Nobody belongs to none. Only He, is ours, before, now and always, though we maybe consciouss about it or not, time after time, He as a loving father keeps giving us chances after chances as human beings to amend our ignorant ways and divert our attention and focus on Him for our own benefit, what other proof do we need of His unconditional love for us dumb jeevas. Brother if there is anything you want to desire and love, be it only Wahiguru Akal Purukh, above all and everything. Rest is all your chioce. So make your choice wisely. Sat Sree Akal.

  14. The Singhs who dragged Bhai Kanhaiya before Kalgidhar Patshaah sounded very similar to you. "Why give water to some muslim, an enemy, when you could be giving water to a Sikh instead? Shouldn't the Sikhs be a priority?" I shouldn't have to remind you how this turned out for them. When Dashmesh Pitaa asked Bhai Sahib why he had done this, Kanhaiya replied "I saw no Mughal or Sikh on the field of battle Maharaj, I saw only you". Guru Gobind Singh said that of all those present in the group Kanhaiya alone had understood the real message of Gurbani. Bhai Kanhaiya was right. The Singhs were wrong. I believe you are wrong about this too bhenji. Be careful not to become so obsessed with protecting 'sikhi' that you forget what you're supposed to be protecting in the first place. Helping somebody is never a waste of anything, it is not only one of the best things we can do for others, but one of the best things we can do for our own Sikhi.

  15. Nice observations. Remember we are in Kalyug, negativity is at its peak, and the worst thing is, one negative fool out of ignorance is enough to ignite negative sparks, and many others follow them as brainless lambs, who otherwise seem normal people in normal circumstances. Real Chardi Kala within, can never ever be achieved by words nor intentions, which may turn out temporary, but by staying in His bhaana, through devotion to Wahiguru alone, the endless fountain supplier of true everlasting bliss and goodness or call it positivity. 16. Being selfless Forget your own happiness, by creating a little happiness for others. Because, when you are good to others, you are the best to yourself. Just remember... the things you do for yourself, are gone, when you are gone. But, the things you do for others, remain as your legacy. BEHAVIOUR Is always Greater than Knowledge Because there Are Many Situations Where Knowledge fails But, behaviour, Can Handle everything. In a similar way, we may not understand all the gyan given to us by Guru sahiban, but, we can at least be good Gursikhs, with all the virtues implied in being so, purity, humility, faithfullness to Guru Jee. 17. The Power of Prayer Dr. Mark, a well-known cancer specialist, was once on his way to an important conference in another city where he was going to be granted an award in the field of medical research. He was very excited to attend the conference and was desperate to reach as soon as possible. He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain. However, two hours after the plane took off, the plane made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to some technical snag. Afraid, that he wouldn’t make it in time for the conference, Dr. Mark immediately went to the reception and found that the next flight to the destination was after ten hours. The receptionist suggested him, to rent a car and drive himself down to the conference city which was only four hours away. Having no other choice, he agreed to the idea despite his hatred for driving long distances. Dr. Mark rented a car and started his journey. However, soon after he left, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began. The pouring rain made it very difficult for him to see and he missed a turn he was supposed to take. After two hours of driving, he was convinced he was lost. Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. After some time, he finally came across a small tattered house. Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door. A beautiful lady opened the door. He explained the matter and asked her if he could use her telephone. However, the lady told him that she doesn’t have a phone or any electronic gadget but told the doctor to come inside and wait till the weather improved. Hungry, wet and exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in. The lady gave him hot tea and something to eat. The lady told him that he can join her for prayer. But, Dr. Mark smiled and said that he believed in hard work only and told her to continue with her prayers. Sitting on the table and sipping the tea, the doctor watched the woman in the dim light of candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib. Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one. Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor seized the opportunity to speak as soon as she finished her prayers. The doctor asked her what exactly she wanted from the God and enquired if she thought God will ever listen to her prayers. He further asked about the small child in the crib for whom she was apparently praying. The lady gave a sad smile and said that the child in the crib is her son who is suffering from a rare type of cancer and there is only one doctor Mark who can cure him but she doesn’t have money to afford his fee and moreover Dr Mark lives in another far off town. She said that God has not answered her prayer so far, but said that God will create some way out one day, and added that she will not allow her fears to overcome her faith. Stunned and speechless, Dr Mark was in tears which were rolling down his cheeks. He whispered, God is great and recollected the sequence of events. ….there was malfunction in the plane, a thunderstorm hit, and he lost his way; and all of this happened because God did not just answer her prayer but also gave him a chance to come out of materialistic world and give some time to the poor helpless people who have nothing but rich prayers.

  18. UKL = Paji i think that exposes why SAD (Amritsar) are not taken seriously and don't muster 1% of MLA's. By falsely accusing Talwandi, Longowal and Tohra of being complicit in the most anti-Sikh desecration of the 20th Century is a disgrace, when people on the ground and constituents of the aforementioned can see otherwise. Instead of SAD (Amritsar) accusing fellow Sikhs wose life actions for the Panth speak for themselves they should concentrate on what we can all unitedly now do 30 years later to get our Qaum out of the mess we are in since 1984. lsingh, on 07 Feb 2014 - 20:50, said: UKL = We the UK based Sikh Panth should unite and with a 500,000 plus voice demand reparations from the Treasury for the UK Government's complicity in the Genocide of Sikhs. JasSinghKhalsa, on 07 Feb 2014 - 20:55, said: The answer is crystal clear Paji. The review etc isn't even good enough. We need a minimum of £100million plus reparations (in the form of international development funding by the UK Government) ploughed into community projects in Punjab for the upliftment of poor Sikhs suffering illiteracy, cancer, infanticide, social discrimination, drugs, alcohol (and the surviving victims of the Genocide against Sikhs launched by Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv) etc ... given the then UK Government's assistance in the Genocide against Sikhs. The Sikh Council UK, Kesri Lehar, Sikhs for Justice, Sikh Federation UK etc need to join hands to actively and aggressively lobby for this £100million compensation by June 2014 to mark 30years and we can push them on that. The Department for International Development regularly doles out billions overseas (around £9billion globally last year) so the Sikh Qaum should be able to secure this if we try and we effectively lobby for it with one united voice as this is common sense. I do not advocate any fool burns the Union Jack as a way of getting our point across (as i suspect GOI will try defame us like that). Should we not succeed in getting Cameron to commit £100million to help those suffering various problems in Punjab etc we can always play our own part in making 2014 a year of meaningful progression for our Panth to mark 30 years of hurt. With the painful history of 1984 and the Genocide occurred and there's nothing we can do to turn back time now. However, 30 years on what we youth in the West can certainly do is set ourselves aims and objectives as members of the Sikh Panth to hit the following targets for Panthic upliftment by combatting drugs, alcohol, biraderi, infanticide, illiteracy, cancer and poverty. All bakhre bakhre Gurdware must be merged as soon as possible. UK Sangat to raise £30 million plus by June 2014 Canadian Sangat to C$30 million plus by June 2014 American Sangat to raise $30 million plus by June 2014 Other Diaspora Countries Sangat should target $10million plus by June 2014 India-based Sangat could arguably raise R300crores plus by June 2014 And with an eventual target of national Panj Pyaaray representatives from each country handing over their respective nation Sangat's cheques to the SGPC for firewalled projects for Panthic Upliftment in combatting drugs, alcohol, infanticide, biraderi, illiteracy, cancer and poverty and every penny of the funds presented to SGPC in June 2014 being watched over by auditors to confirm that Badal Dal cannot access, use or waste a single penny of the funds raised by Sangat, thereby transforming SGPC into a clean saanjha charitable vehicle for the Upliftment of the Poor and management of United Gurdwara's as it was always intended. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj must be translated into Tamil, Bengali, Oriya, Telugu etc, etc to get the Truth of what Sikhi represents out there further. Rather than just remembering the past, we need to actively attack the current silent Genocide occuring via infanticide, drugs, cancer, illiteracy, biraderi and poverty. Let's hear every forum members idea's on how we actually make this happen. Let's all contact Sikh organisations and us as Sangat try spread this agenda like a virus!

  20. Well said L.Singh Ji. Instead of wasting money on a worthless statue (as our Qaum does on the structure of religious buildings contrary to Gurmat) the Kisumu Sikhs would have been better advised to direct the money wasted on such a statue into local community seva. Furthermore perhaps uniting the factionalised Gurdware in Kisumu into one merged United Gurdwara with greater representation of local African Sikhs on the committee would have marked the occasion more fittingly. One thing is clear, every penny wasted on "pomp" should go instead towards things with a long term seva legacy relating to health, education, societal upliftment and parchaar.

  21. Definitely Paji (kaljugi) mentoring is something we need to make compulsory at our Gurdwara like on N30S1NGH 's "Dream Gurdwara" thread. Influencing youngsters straying off the tracks in a non-judgemental way without excessive expectation of them becoming Amritdhari will really move us forward. I think that if we realise that true Amritdhari qualities can only really be exhibited in the top 1% at best ... then we will realise why only 5 Gursikhs stood up out of a sangat of fifty thousand. The key ingredient for a greater Amritdhari population who match the qualities of having a heart "overflowing with love" (and to stand out in a crowd) that Guru Gobind Singh Ji expected of them ... is a greater pool of Sehajdhari brothers and sisters that believe in the basics. We can hardly expect any Khalsay in countries like Iraq overnight, can we? But the Panj Pyaaray's individual backgrounds as 80% non-Punjabi's prove (despite the Sangat in 1699 congregating in Punjab which on paper ought to have perhaps meant a greater percentage of Punjabi's amongst the beloved five) that Sikhi is a universal message and that with the suffering going on globally at present ... we need a new Khalsa Fauj for this day + age to be re-activated under the auspices of the UN.

  22. True Paji + i think it very much depends on family ... perhaps your family were more religious than others families back then where the dad is having a glassy to celebrate this harvest nonsense ... what it leads on to ... is how mentoring of (particularly) Sehajdhari youth (in a non-judgemental way by Gursikhs) is critical. Obviously mentors would not be restricted to Gursikhs anyway of course. As far as I heard it from Giani i respect ... no point "celebrating" a harvest festival when others on this planet going hungry ...

  23. But in a sense kalyugi it's kind of our fault ... if people knew what Vasakhi was actually about ... i reckon all the sharabi crew might even give it a break for 1day! Those that know just have to push the message harder ... but the bhangra labels are killing us + much as i say hats off to D.Bal for doing Sikh Channel ... we have to hit him with feedback that his other station is doing our youngsters harm in terms of the caste baqwaas, alcolhol baqwaas + "punjabi version of 50cent mentality". For all the honest Sikhs that know ... we can't compete with a tv station ... so we got to try cut the root by polite persuasion initially of Davinder Bal for starters
