  2. I don't think the majority believe it is the highest expression of being a Sikh. They pretend Sikhi is all about that as it is easier to be a langri and let everyone walk all over you and claim it is the tolerance taught to you in Sikhi rather than fight for our future and survival and for your own rights at this point. Recently I saw a clip from Punjab where some turbaned Sikh was getting hit by random people and he did not even once try to save his turban or even fight back. Just taking the blows. What we forgot is that we lost a generation of fighting Sikh men and what we are left with is the timid weak types unfortunately. It is easy for the remaining Sikhs to be langri and promote this one love one humanity bs than to plan and think something about our future. We have no leader or no common goal as a community. Everyone is on their own individual materialistic hedonistic endeavor with no collective responsibility to the panth. 99% of present "Sikhs" just have no redeeming qualities. I see the ones that come straight out of Punjab and i mean if even 1% of them have any self awareness about Sikhi or our future, that would be a great thing. They just don't care. For the majority of them individual materialism is the goal. They don't care about making wealth for the community to get power. They don't care about Sikhi at all. I see turbaned Sikhs coming from Punjab here in Toronto, going to clubs, drinking fully indulged in hedonism and I am just thinking atleast have some shame and stop wearing the turban. Majority of them are just Sikh in name because that is what their parents told them . They don't know anything about Sikhi because neither did their parents teach them anything nor are they interested . They are more interested in buying the latest iphone. Additionally if you see we still haven't made clear cut guidelines after thorough research of our religion. Some say meat is allowed others say its not. Majority of Sikhs will not be able to give a clear answer why we keep our hair. Like our entire apparatus is wrong. If you go on youtube how many videos you will find explaining thousand of concepts from islam and Christianity. How many interesting videos do you find regarding Sikhi? Even the basics of Sikhi videos after Jagraj Singh's death haven't been able to attract views as they are not delivered in an interesting way. How many young Christian pastors and Islamic Imams are there and compare that to our kathavachaks. You are not able to attract youngsters with this current apparatus of teaching. The SGPC literally doesn't care. Its just all old people who have turned the organization into a money making business.

  3. I think the truth is that they know they can't save their own at the moment. Can these people save all the Sikhs languishing in jails over fake cases? No! So they do all this drama to make themselves feel better about their inability to help their own. Another is since there are so much less Sikhs in the world they feel alienated from the world and want to fit in or want attention from others to not feel alienated from the world. So they do all this feel good drama to get people to like and support them but they don't understand no matter how nice they are to these people they will backstab them anytime. These two are the main factors. They think that being this way is the only way to get people to like them and not feel alienated. Look if you think about it 2 billion Christians, 2 billion Muslims , 1 billion Hindus ; all these communities are definitely anti Sikh and want to end/assimilate Sikhi as they believe their religion is the only true religion. But then being such a small minority an average Sikh feels alienated from the society not only due to the way we look but also our beliefs. Sikhi tells us that these paths are broken but we don't go out of our way unlike these groups to devise clever devious plans to finish these people off. So an average Sikh craves larger societal acceptance from the majority communities and they act like this. It is the same reason Ravi Singh does what he does. He knows helping Muslims, Christian African will get him more PR and societal acceptance and reach than helping his own people. They are victims of their own ego. The Bhai Kanhaiya story is just used by these kind to justify what they are doing and not feel guilty rather than being the sole reason for their doings. The main reason is that wider societal acceptance by helping majority communities fuels their ego. Would Ravi Singh gain all this PR if he was helping just his own? NO! No one other than Sikhs would even know who he was.

  4. I thought about this and I think it is our concept of Seva and shaheedi taken to the extreme. The concept of selflessness skewed to the extreme where you put everyone else before yourself. The concept of sacrifice taken to the extreme because our Guru Teg Bahadur sacrificed and put Hindus before his own life. So our people have followed the Guru's way. The Bhai Khanaiya syndrome as well has not helped. I think we see these things as unconditional rather than with caveats.

  5. Just offering another viewpoint, Punjab has been a traditional Congress stronghold and now it is controlled by the AAP. Both parties are opponents of BJP and would oppose whatever BJP proposes. Very possible that the majority of the protestors were their supporters who were being told to fight for justice bla, bla, bla while in fact they were just political pawns being used to undermine BJP policies and knowing the simpletons we have in our community, they fell for it hook ,line and sinker. This Act was very beneficial for Sikhs especially those living in war torn and terrorist infested countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan. I guess that movie Lal Singh Chadda perfectly showcases these pathetic bunch of umbrella holders, stupid yet arrogant.

  6. Because apne are total food-oos. This law didn't effect Indian muslims in any way, so I don't know why they threw a hissy fit. It just prioritised Hindu and Sikh refugees from places like Afghanistan and Pakistan. Nehru and Gandhi really did mess up big time allowing so many suls to stay behind after partition. Tara Singh for all his failures did at least help get rid of them from Punjab. Can you imagine suls in Pakistan protesting if only muslim refugees were allowed into their country?

  7. I buy/sell properties and do investments in real estate here and there. I took Amrit close to 20 years ago when i was a student and was active in SSA and sikh camps. In my life, i recently had a realization that i am leading my life wrong way (i still do) and now gradually getting rid of unnecessary Moh/Maya stuff to lead a more modest and simple life. It is not overnight thinking but takes time. Now, don't get me wrong, i am not selling my properties and other to become a sadhu. Our guru jee didn't taught that. He taught us to do well but also vand shakna. I will continue to expand but controlling the urges of other stuff and more focusing on helping others as much as i can. Not boosting but my experience when i read this topic.
