  4. Being a Singh, you would expect me to be like "yo u have to be strong stop being so weak bla bla bla singh shaheed for kesh bla bla Guru Ji's daughter bla" But since everyone's done that above I feel like taking a different approach: DONT force yourself to keep kesh. Only do it when you WANT to. Dont feel you have to. Do it only when you feel that love for Akaal Purakh Sahib Ji. ooo sounds controversial.. lol.. by the way I'm not a monna The thing is, when you force yourself in the name of Sikhi - Don't you see how FAR you're degrading Sikhi? You limit your spiritual advancement by physically forcing yourself. I didn't force myself to stop eating meat, I didn't force myself to have a cold bath in mornings, I didn't force myself to keep Darha sahib etc. If i did then my mind would try to rebel that bit more! Say you (after people pressurizing u) decide to take amrit anyway and vow not 2 cut your kesh.. Then 2 things tend to happen in the general case: a) you end up giving up cutting your kesh again b) your self confidence crashes down to all time low - (Khalsa is meant to be humble but comeon.. u need self respect dude!) Who loses out? Not the people who "told you so" but YOU. Those "hardcore" ppl will remain hardcore - just look at you and say a) OMG ur so weak b) stay strong (respectively to above circumstances). The other end ppl will say "i told u not 2 take amrit!" THE decision is yours. Not mine, not his, not hers, not anyone on this forum. Only keep kesh when you're mentally ready. PS: Same counts for fighting kaam .. Forcing yourself to stop Kaam tends to create explosive consequences ("celibate" priests - whether "christian" or "sikh" or whoever - raping/sexually harrasing/perving on young girls) Wars are not won in 1 minute.. they take time dude! Use tactics with the resources you got (instead of letting that energy go to your sexual organs use it up in training for example.. or stay busy if u get kaami when you got nothing to do) Be a Khalsa not a wannabe
  5. At the end of day it takes effort Try studying Punjabi as a language - like GCSE/ A levels And read lot's of gurbani.. English translations are ok only for the beginning of this journey Then u'll naturaly start linking punjabi words with their English meanings AND THEN you'll realise how wrongly they are translated! You begin to use encyclopeadia of Punjabi (Mahankosh) - which is AMAZING to find the meaning of any word in Gurbani (but its all in punjabi) One day, it will just click to you - listening, reading Gurbani leads to understanding Gurbani. All it takes is effort..
  6. now THIS is interesting!! http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Guru_Na...Mecca_was_Vedic

  11. http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=1780 Can someone provide me with the Sakhi(s) that serves as a background of this particular Shabad?
  12. Personally I didn't feel the bliss like some people say "days/weeks" later.. I strongly believe that after taking Amrit you don't lose anything..you actually gain more and more! It is likely that our Avguns make us think this negative way.
  13. good post but.. you spoilt it with one line but also.. from reading your post again.. it sounded quite a lot like A pro-idol argument made by Hindus (4th Para)
  14. Veerji, isnt Kalyug coming to an end sometime soon according to calculations of dates?

  17. I autmatically thought it happened in India and was about to write "it only happens in India" but what?!
  18. lol wow from every single person that posted in this thread i recieved a different answer The joys of variation anywho.. why would you want to know when kalyug will end? it shouldn't matter to a Gursikh - as his state of mind would be in Satyug with Gurbani.. whether they are chilling in Satyug or burning in Kalyug.
  19. Even Taksaalis don't really do that huna? The Siharis and Onkars are just there for gramatical purposes (and to balance out the number of letters on each line) Eg: How would u pronounce: shs qv nYn nn nYn hih qoih kau shs mUriq nnw eyk quohI ] Here, it should be pronounced qohI and grammatically translated as quhI
  20. dayaaaaam justMe u sound just like me again! :D Sometime i look at life and think - chek meee out i rock! but then i look at it from a sikhi point of view and think.. JEEYO MAILLE BARRO NIRMAL
