  1. WJKK WJKF Show was 100% spot on. Next the focus needs to be on : 1. Extreme professionalism needed - i.e. there were some points being repeated too many times by the panelists and audience. 2. Focus on how to tackle the issue -- comparing to the old Gurdwara sadhar lehar in Punjab -- Satkaar campaign may have to take on that approach but with law on their side but most importantly winning the hearts and minds of most panjabi people amrtidahri and non- amrtidhari. 3. Biggest issue is the generation gap - the missing generation of our own who haven't a clue on our way of life.Secondly as Upkaar Singh Jee said on that one call that was taken,we have the Sikhs who are sheep - i.e won't even attend the Gurdwara as much as some non amritdhari's do.I have an example of this in my town Gravesend and anyone is welcome to see at especially 5-30-700 AM. which type of Sikhs are there at that time.At times mona sikhs do chaur seva at that time. Our main issue of just as high importance is of getting the bums through the door of the Gurdwara, let alone having them sit down and listen to something. 4. There was no much input from taking calls from the outside sangat, needs to be addressed next time. On a positive the panelist were very impressive surely looked like Lions roaring on a rampage to resolve this issue in the UK.
  2. WJKK WJKF Daasakedaas is 100% spot on, the only thing i would like to add which helps is : 1. Physical exercise of a cardio nature , at least 3-4 times a week, where you get out of breath-- does wonders for the mind. Those puratann Sikhs were on horseback all the time, to be on horseback for 2 hours you need extreme fitness. It's crucial. 2. After physical if you find time to your self and apply what Daasakedaas has said with breathing controlled -i.e. slow breathing- this is even more benefical. Please come back and tell us what worked wonders for you, as we're all diffenent.
  3. WJKK WJKF Great article, inpsiring, worth cherishing and a reread too. The list could be a long one in my case too but the quote under my signature is my learning from it all. Mankind is just a prayer - as quoted in SGGS
  4. WJKK WJKF Daasakedaas Jeoo, perfect, could you please enlighten us with the maha enlightened soul that has helped you, so some others may benefit too, as they are few and far between?
  5. WJKK WJKF Beautiful reply bY Mehtab Jee::, I can only reiterate Jap Ji where Guru Jee Mentions: "ANT NAA JAAPEEE KEHAAA MUN MAANT" Loosley translated "There is no way of any human of knowing the future" or what God has in his mind"" -- absolutely NO WAY
  6. WJKK WJKF Satkaar campaign - ROCKS - keep up the excellent work, may Guru Sahiban blees you with even more chardi kala, it seems hopeful now that one day we may have all Gurdwaras adhering to the Akal Takht Sandesh!!
  7. WJKK WJKF Guys, firstly ,let's keep the debate lively and positive and stop any bickering. Secondly I have learnt soemthing new here, where does it say Baba Deep Singh Jee did paath at such speed and the number of counts?? just need to be enlightened about that. Thirdly , proctocol is crstal clear || which means pause reflect and then move on, I cannot believe Baba Deep Singh Jee breaking such protocol.
  8. WJKK WJKF One week and u've over 50k!!! now that is something..Surely the Bank will see sense and possibly extend the deadline for the goal to be NOT reached BUT EXCEEDED!!!
  9. WJKK WJKF Thought I should share, for years I did paat without pause at the II , in Gurbani, and wondered too where is my patience and improvement in life. I can say hand on my heart that if one pauses for at II for at least 2 seconds before moving on to the next line, it will work wonders for you in life. The stopping at II is protocol of Gurbani and is an ang, we are to be in sehaj and reflect at what we are reading, the joy of this is brilliant. In a fast computerised world of today and brushing of gora culture upon us we don't have time, your mind will play the ultimate twisted trick as to "cum on hurry up", timings of Japji will go from the normal 7 minutes to about 25.The ultimate ras of Gurbani is the key and goal, and fruits will show on that very day on just how your day goes..care to try anyone, or am I on my todd??
  10. WJKK WJKF Hope all goes well, just one word of caution, the downside risk is that amritdhari or non amritdhari guys in India are desparate to get abroad at any cost and has been the case for the last 30-40 years. And I know personnally that some of these guys turn out be utter ugly inside, nothing of amrit or sikhe is inside some of them and the hide behind the amritdhari balaclava really well. The only way is to take it slow and find out about his personality too if it matches that of a Gursikh.
  11. WJKK WJKF Surprised at the response here, very minimal, in my hometown we have the biggest Gurdwara in Europe and here is the schedule for youth: Youth Kirtan and Tabla Classes every Thurday from 1800 - 19:30sh Gatka classess for younger kids and youth starting from Every Saturday from 14:00 onwards till 18:30sh Nothing else as of yet check in 25 years time as we have had one generation gap of youth missing already from any activities in the Gurdwara!!
  12. WJKK WJKF I agree 100% with Pyara jeeo, as I have seen with my own two eyes people from the age group of 25-40 contributing larger amounts of dasvand from families which are not all entirely amritdhari, which inculdes some of my own in that area. The exemplar work by Hitchin and their transperency is exactly what is needed currently to project forward to any further tangible objectives.
  13. WJKK WJKF Some like myself may not be able to attend, so please let us know the outcome of this meeting here. I find it completely distressing that from the area where the academy is located, there are also major Sikh businesses and 150k should not be an issue, but it is..somehow.
  14. WJKK WJKF Very sad to see such a situation, maybe collaborating with one of the other channels isn't such as bad idea. As for ideas I see nothing on any of the three channels covering the following: 1. Sport- wrestling, kabaadi etc. there is a whole host of this going on in Punjab and overseas. Guru Angad dev Jee introduced wrestling, perhaps covering the shinj/tournament from Kadoor sahib on a regualer basis. 2. Sport up and down the country, most Gurdwaras cover Gatka , where is the coverage of this on any of the channels, apart from a few flash gatka shows from Punjab, we've had zilch. 3. Shows/discussions on differences of Panjabi and Sikh culture, along the lines two atrract and detract. 4. Youth have serious issue such as drugs/gangstar/crime in the UK we, haven't a single insitution in the UK which deals with such issues, perhaps sikh channel can make the sangat aware?? 5. Panth time program is great, we seriously need a youth time program , as the youth contribution is not the same as our old uncles whehther for seva or chaudar in a Gurdwara..Where youth are successful - i.e hitichin, bedfordshire, how was it over come. 6. Programs on the election system in our Gurdwara baseed on the Gora system is it correct to have such a system in a Gurdwar, and what has it produced apart from separate divide and rule agendas within all Gurdwaras, we are our own worse enemy. I hope some of these are taken on board as I'm sure there is a Panjab tv coming on the air soon which will also cover the bhangra gigs type stuff and including sport, wouldn't it make sense for a Sikh Channell to adopt this type of programming rather a cutural punjabi channel. How sad we had Channel Punjab, and some of their programming was excellent, it also failed a few years back now a Sikh channel, about to fail - un believable are we just a joke???
  15. WJKK WJKF FREED Daduwal, 56 others freed unconditionally Rajay Deep Tribune News Service Sant Baljit Singh Daduwal interacts with mediapersons at Gurdwara Jandalisar in Bathinda district on Tuesday. Sant Baljit Singh Daduwal interacts with mediapersons at Gurdwara Jandalisar in Bathinda district on Tuesday. Tribune photo: Pawan Sharma Bathinda, January 4 All 57 radical Sikhs, including Sant Baljit Singh Daduwal, a hardline Sikh preacher, who were arrested by the Mansa Police on Sunday, were released today. Acting upon the state government’s directions, the police released all of them unconditionally and even initiated a process to withdraw the case. “This has been done in the interest of the state as the government wants to restore normalcy,” said Mansa SSP Hardyal Singh Mann. However, finding tension prevailing, curfew was kept in force at Bhikhi town for the third consecutive day with a relaxation of three hours twice. Daduwal, along with 11 others, was taken into preventive custody on Sunday morning from Gurdwara Jandalisar as his “objectionable remarks” had created uneasiness among followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda on Saturday. Irked over his arrest, his followers had clashed with the police at Bhikhi town on the same day. Later, the police arrested 45 of his followers from the spot and booked them under Sections 307 and 353 of the IPC on Sunday. In the case, over 100 unidentified persons were also included but they could not be arrested. Facing the prospect of statewide protests, the state government today directed the district administration to order their unconditional release. Following this, Daduwal, along with his 11 followers, was released from the Ferozepur Central Jail at 2 am today. To ensure that they do not go anywhere else, the Mansa Police escorted them to Gurdwara Jandalisar in Bathinda at 4 am. After a couple of hours, Daduwal held a press conference at the gurdwara and gave an ultimatum that if his followers lodged in the Bathinda Central Jail were not released till January 6, the Sant Samaj and other Sikh organisations would hold a joint meeting and chalk out an aggressive course of action. “It is quite surprising that without any evidence, the police arrested me and then without asking for a bail bond, released me. I ask bureaucrats as well as politicians to decide whether I am guilty or not and stop this drama of arrest and release,” he said. “As I am out of jail now, I will do my best to build pressure on the government. If they think I will sit quiet, it’s their misconception,” said Daduwal. Ironically, after some time, the Mansa Police called up Daduwal that they were about to release all 45 of his followers from the Bathinda Central Jail unconditionally. Following this, Daduwal, along with a large number of followers, reached the jail and received his followers. Talking to the media, Daduwal said the government had succumbed to the pressure that they all be released. Meanwhile, he announced to hold a religious congregation in Sangrur district from January 7-9. “Though the government is doing its best to foil our attempts, we are committed to hold it at any cost,” he said. He also accused the government of dancing to the tunes of the Dera Sacha Sauda to seek votes in the next Assembly elections. Targeting the Jathedar of Akal Takht, Daduwal said, “We have been struggling to get the edict issued by Akal Takht against the Dera Sacha Sauda. But neither the ruling party, which claims to be a Panthic party, nor anyone else, including the SGPC, seems interested in it. If Akal Takht is unable to implement it, the edict must be taken back,” he added.
  16. WJKK WJKF Any one tried to build a monument of some sort or plaquared for this Singh so that the general public may learn soemthing about SikhS?
  17. WJKK WJKF Great responses here indeed, I wonder on the same question from time to time. However I do wish Khalsaaid could answer the same question as did the united sikhs for ever $1 , 90 cents goto the needy. This is not being picky I know the awesome seva they do,and I support them at present, but a clear answer as rain should be appearing if sangat is asking such a question.
  18. WJKK WJKF I would like to mention where the all three have failed at present: 1. Sports --- no kabbadi 2. Gatka --- not much just a few flash ones here and there-- how about all the Gatka akharas up and down the country - ?? nothing covered. 3. Wrestling -- Guru Angad Dev encoruaged massively on this support -- loads of contests in Punjab -- nothing covered.. Due to the above I wouldn't be surprised that another Punjabi channel springs up and covers the above and if so it will cover the stuff we don't want such as bhangra and so forth.. Would it not make sense for one of these channels to take this head on very quickly?? 4. More issues need be discussed - divorce, drugs and GANGS - most of our teenagers especially in the UK are massively into GANGS - what's being done about it-- any one working on it?
  19. WJKK WJKF What are the chances - none , as time and time over we are our own worst enemy!!!! Here's a prime example: The new Sikh school in Norwood for under 16's , one of the staff sixty year old woman put up a christmas tree recently in the foyer -- no where near the SGGS or any room belonging to it in the building....she was threatned by the Respect for SGSS campaign guys to remove the tree or face protests. A sixty year old woman was given threats from as far as wolverhampton to remove the tree!!!!! This is how great we are, just imagine the BBC - media getting hold of that , what are we protraying, are we talibans ???!!! Will SIkhe ever grow with this sort of attitude?? No bashing please I agree there must be full respect of SGGS but the above is shocking!!
  20. WJKK WJKF Just makes you think that Sikhe Bhavana is there naturally, this guy probably doesn'e know how gifted he is, absolutely amazing. For us to even do half or 1/10 of what this guy is doing would be an accomplishment - I'll start off with only going for one coffe a week, any others want to take lead from an exemplar here!
  21. WJKK WJKF Of Huge importance, here are the timings etc>: http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Timings_For_Gurbani_Raag
  22. WJKK WJKF Happiness in life - yep be happy to be alive, who knows what kind of death and the after life will become of us. Be grateful for every second of life you are living and for having who ever you've got around you. pleasurable things in life are temporary no matter which pleasure. Thing is do you want to grow and be mature and change to your own individual cirmustances, most of the time we don't want to change, however if we make the effort to change, then happiness is around the corner. If you're parents won't change, you be the change and lead them by example and one day they will change and love you even more.correct or not??
  23. WJKK WJKF It seems Harinder Singh has been reading too many self help books and been in touch with the likes of Todays Big american successes such as Dr.Covey and Anthony Robbins. His lectures and his approach is very similar, however this isn't all bad as it creates positive poeple and brings about positive thinking and dynamics. However for A Gursikh these dynamics are enjoined with naam as " Nanak Naam chardi kala" and not without it. As maskeen jee once said the "paraayaa lekhaaiyaa" person can be the most devastating to kaum or this world and these words continue to be true.We must be the only kaum in the world that produces intellecutals they get hell bent on changing our own traditions first before any other worldly contribution- what is the issue, why not just carry on doing what you are doing, is it not reaping you rewards or what?
  24. WJKK WJKF Please listen to the whole series here to gain indepth understanding which is vitally crucial , Bhai Sahib Jee explains how the army is so huge inside of us for the challenge. I also think Bhai Sahib here is one of those few katha vahceks really on the ball no hithering and dithering straight to the point with Gurbani as context.
