  1. most gurughars in east coast are messed up best one i have been to is SGNC Durham Gurudwara (but i heard they have a seperate gurudwara for people not too serious about sikhi in durham lol) dont know why sikhs have problem when proper rehit marayada is followed.. we always want to do our own mann marjii... i guess ego kicks in we think we know better than guru ji and everyone else
  2. there is a gurudwara in Florida i believe in jacksonville where they do arti of guru granth sahib ji... :\ i know someone who said she was uncomfortable when she sat through it (people dont speak up even when they know beadbi is happening is another issue)
  3. v veerji yh try going to the smagam. i used to go when i was moni it was a really good feeling unconsciously it helped me get into sikhi more. before i didnt really care about keeping gursikh sangat i would attend reinsabaii the sangat here would take me with them to smagams that took place 6hrs or even 12 hours away. after keeping kesh i feel like i can hang out with people that arent into sikhi but not for too long i start to lose the sense of myself and start feeling lost.....i dont know if you feel the same way but i tend to get uncomfortable then i randomly go to gurudwara if i dont have sangat just to have sikhi environment around me... yh like gupt veerji said i have problem being around desis more than gore because desi pick on you more if you are religious...best thing is to ignore unless they are doing bezati of guru sahib. desis do stare a lot at anyone who doesnt fit their expectations if you dont look like most teenagers they stare... now days a lot of kids dont care about sikhi so i bet they stare because you are one of the few who has kept your kesh.... once you go into sangat you will start to feel pride with ur sikhi roop. http://akj.org/skins/one/ they usually have reinsabaii updates here (they arrange a place for you to stay if you go for a whole week)
  4. like only five said in many times guru ji said NO to janeu... as it represents brahman superiority but guru ji also gave his life just to save that jenaeu as sikhs we believe in Fighting against opression.. to opress is to ban hijab or nikab!!! just as it is to force hijab or nikab... !! they went to defend muslims right to wear nikab because it was happening in canada so canadian sikh veerji, balpreet singh (veerji who we sikhs are proud of) went..... sikhs stood up against banning nikab just like they would if it was forced on muslim women in their country now get rid of your egooo!!! and actually think like a man...You have obviously never read the rehitnama!! and never done sangat with gursikhs that wear gol paagh LOL dress like nihangs!! To be amrit thari is to be dead yet alive... amrit tharis take pride in their bana because its given by guru ji..its guru jis roop.. try understanding sikhi one day and try to get your sikhchic mates to understand sikhi as well so they stop publishing utter bakwaas online targetting guru jis bana.... .. (balpreet singh veerji actually wore a suit to the assembly but ITS NOT WRONG TO WEAR BANA) WHAT DO YOU THINK REPRESENTS US SIKHS? jazzy b??? Guru Gobind Singh jis roop should be roop of a TRUE sikh... sikh is to learn and by your post it doesnt look like you have learned much throughout ur journey... hope ur blessed with gurmat one day so you understand how wrong your viewpoint is now!! its totally anti sikhi... i dont even think you are here to learn or exchange views.. it looks like only five already answered you well but you dont seem to acknowledge the things he pointed out.. maybe you cant process all that at once... take ur time!! but just dont write out of ego..... mY gur imil auc dumwlVw ] mai gur mil ouch dhumaalarraa || I met with the Guru, and I have tied a tall, plumed turban. http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=183
  5. i totally agree with you only five veerji. nice responses. it scares me to see people like heatsikhing missile what have they learned throughout their life. it makes me sad to see the straight disrespect of guru jis bana by these so called sikhs...i know many money sikhs..eventhough they are moneh they have respect and pyar for sikhi that they would never say anything like that.. but i dont know what category this guy fits in i am not going to bother arguing with him eventhough his comments are bezati of guru sahib.. because i see that eventhough his thinking ideas are full of ignorance and are totally flawed he will never admit it because he is so full of ego.
  6. honestly i think i know what you mean... i think its because you need to go to smagams as much as you can.. if you dont you will never know where you belong because you actually belong in sangat..... dont know what i would do without sangat.. i went to california and staying there with my relatives and no sangat i was going insane... i was crying for sangat.. cos i was going away from sikhi.. i am not even amrit thari.. yet so i do know what you mean i always say to people that i am sooo afriad that i wont have sangat.. if i dont have it i can see myself going away from sikhi because i am so weak myself eventhough i know i would hate to be what i used to be when i wasnt into sikhi it was seriously hell!! :\ Suggesstion is Take a Vacation and go get some sangat go to TO Reinsabaii that is next week or just go to gurudwara where there is always keertan and lotta gursikh sangat!! I am sure that will help if it doesnt work then come back and write here
  7. yh i agree with you on that. you are never born into sikhi you live it.. but i think a lot of people that are born into sikhi but dont practice it is usually because they werent brought up around sangat and sikhi. i used to be one of them.. learning about shaheeds is what made me keep my kesh and like you said people hate on you... i experienced it too, not from amreekans but from desis. all because our kaum is soo divided, not enough parchaar.
  8. One day Bhai Sahib was arrested by Vairoval Police in the Amritsar area. For many days Bhai Sahib was kept hanging upside down in the police station. Foot-long metal rods were heated up and hammered into his legs, from the heels upward. A pin was put through his private parts and an electricity connection was attached to it so that he could be shocked. Hot metal rods were also passed through his chest. But the Guru's Singh took the tortures calmly. All the torturers heard was "Vahiguru". No cries of pain, no screams. After the torture, Bhai Sahib was left on the ground, unable to move. The time for Rehraas arrived. Bhai Sahib opened his eyelids but the sockets that held his eyes were hollow. His beautiful beard was soaked in blood. Those eyes which were once lost in deep meditation had been taken out by the dushts. Bhai Sahib called out, "Sentry! Bhai Sahib jee, what time is it?" He felt around himself with his hands to find the guard. "It's 7.15 Babio. What? What has happend to your eyes??" The Sentry looked at Bhai Sahib's face and felt frightened. "Oh, it must be time for Sodar then. Sodar tera kayhaa..." Bhai Anokh Singh began to recite Rehraas Sahib lying on the ground. Even though his body was shattered, Bhai Sahib recited the paath in a sweet voice. The Sentry too felt the vairaag. After Sodar, Bhai Sahib, still lying on the ground began Ardaas. It was a daily part of his routine. "Ten Gurus, Punj Pyaaray, Chaar Sahibzaaday, The Guru's Jhanday and Boongay..." Bhai Sahib then began his personal ardaas: "Hay Akaal Purakh Suchay Paatshah Guru Nanak dev Gareeb Nivaaj Satguru, the day which rose in your bhaaNaa has passed in happiness, meditating on your naam. Suchay Paatshah, night has arrived, may it too pass while remembering your Naam and in your BhaaNaa....Satguru, May I be a Shaheed...Suchay Patshaah, save me from becoming a traitor...Satguru, may the Sikhi and kesh you have given me last with me till my final breaths...Such Paatshah, have mercy on all....Bolay So Nihaal...Sat Sree Akaal!!" The Jaikara Bhai Sahib sounded echoed throughout the police station. The Sentry ran to the station-head and surrendered his rifle and tabled his resignation. "I can't do this job that forces people to kill saints...I can't..." He kept repeating himself. The SSP cursed, "They are all magicians...another of our officers has left the service because of this paath!!" And then another atrocity was committed. Bhai Sahib's tongue was cut off using a metal cutting saw. Streams of blood flowed from Bhai Sahib's mouth but the faithful Singh raised his hands in Ardaas and thanked Vahiguru. In the end, the police became tired of all this and shot Bhai Sahib in the station. When the shot was fired, a motor cycle was started so that the gun could not be heard. Over night, Bhai Sahib's body was thrown into the river Beas. singhs like bhai anokh singh ji inspire us. singhs went thru so much torture but their sikhi didnt die.. how can we let down our sikhi just because of the certain way people look at us. if you go on with that belief that you are a weak person you will never know your strength
  9. I know many people that moved from well populated area by punjabis and settled in an area known to be racist and kept their kesh there.. when you go around with the idea that people are racist they dont like you you are going to mess up yourself even more because then you start believing it even more...... if you go around with anakh and pride you will be more confident with who you are... i have people say to me o....I didnt know sikh women covered their head... and alll that stuff.. they look.....because they are curious..not because they are racist...!!! and those that are racist are going to be racist anways.. they dont like hijabs..they dont like saris or dastaars... lol racist people dont like anything different no matter what it is the other day we went hiking in a really country area.. we were talking to someone who recently moved here from canada about how racist red necks are... then we had this white old couple walk past us.. they were like o are you sikh? we were surprised they know about us.... so we were like yh not a lot of people know about us.... the lady was like o... no.. my daughter is a sikh so thats how i know about sikhi. there are many open minded people out there and think of the people that arent born into sikhi but then convert and have so much pyar for saroop... you should have love for guru jis saroop.. you will never really fit in even if you get rid of kesh and dara.. you can never make everyone happy.. not even the posh indian women LOL people that hate always pick one thing or another.. you cant ever be perfect for the world.. just care about being perfect with the one who will never desert you http://searchgurbani...ahib/ang_by_ang listen to more paath and go to sangat to make urself more strong so you can keep your saroop

  12. Bhai Najum SinghThe Sikh Organisation for Prisoners Welfare (S.O.P.W) would like to bring to your attention the release of Bhai Najum Singh s/o Hajurah Singh after 7 years of imprisonment. Background: Bhai Najum Singh was arrested under fabricated charges on the 28th of March 2004 in the state of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh district, Raipur village, where he was looking for work. Bhai Najum Singh was subjected to continuous third degree torture and interrogation for three months. During this three month period, officially, Bhai Najum Singh did not exist. His whereabouts were only made known after this period when he was produced in court. Bhai Najum Singh’s imprisonment was made as difficult and inhumane as possible in order to break his resolve. Bhai Najum Singh was incarcerated in Polah Jail in the Maharashtra State. Bhai Najum Singh was in total isolation as the fellow inmates were of Maharti ethnicity and did not speak Punjabi. Bhai Najum Singh’s imprisonment was made even worse by the fact that he was not allowed visitors for over two years. Bhai Najum Singh’s brother attempted to visit him on numerous occasions but was always detained, beaten and then released by the police. In 2006 Bhai Najum Singh was finally allowed family visits, but this was just another ploy to psychologically torture him. The visits were only five minutes long. His family had to travel for two days to reach the jail. Two days of travel for a five minute visit. This visit was conducted through a barred nine inch hole in a concrete wall. In addition to this Bhai Najum Singh was continually transferred by the authorities without informing his family. This was all done in order to ‘break’ Bhai Najum Singh. In 2009 Bhai Najum Singh was transferred to Nabha Jail where he came to the attention of S.O.P.W. We have been supporting him ever since. Bhai Najum Singh is currently writing a full account of his ordeal and the injustice he suffered, details of which will be released by S.O.P.W. Current Situation: Currently Bhai Najum Singh who is in his 50’s has medical issues due to the torture he suffered. In spite of all of this hardship, there is a ray of hope. Bibi Amarpreet Kaur, the daughter of Bhai Najum Singh is to be wed later this month. S.O.P.W. need the sangats help to raise a £1000 so that the family can arrange the wedding. Please visit our website and donate using the Just Giving link. ALL money raised will go directly to the family. Please donate whatever amount you can afford to donate we all together can make a difference and help our brothers and sisters back home http://www.prisonerwelfare.com/news/bhai-najum-singh/ http://www.justgiving.com/SOPW-Wedding
  13. people say that i should not speak rudely to older people.. but so many times i cant help it when some scholarly looking uncle or some uncle who thinks he knows it all starts saying bakwaas thats just utter bakwaas... about sant ji or about how 1984 wasnt a genocide?? i had an argument with this guy who said it cant be called a genocide cos it wasnt called a genocide before.. i mean dude... you cant change.. the facts!! OUR DESI PEOPLE cant argue intelligently they are so full ego that they dont admit it when they are wrong.. they start talking about xyz who they knew and start talking about the punn daan they have done in their lifetime for sikhi.. and think we should follow their footsteps!!!!!!!!! what makes it worse for them is when a FEMALE....+ YOUNGER is telling them something They dont listen!! they just dont!! and then my head starts hurting and i get frustrated i think the biggest problem we face in sikhi is not having UNITY!!!! they cant even feel the pain other sikhs feel!! they arent even happy to call it a genocide.. .they question sant ji when they know he wasnt wrong!!! conclusion: we will fall apart if we dont UNITE!!!!!!!!! so how do we unite?? kidnapping all those stubborn uncles and then trying to preach them would definitely fail because how can you tell someone when they are wrong when they arent even willing to understand!!
  14. watch this ya'll... really good unbiased video... the india lovers will enjoy the good thing he says about india... personally i cant like that country after what it has done.. so i just cant stand indian patriots for the same reason.. but i guess everyones entitled to their own opinion
  15. maybe people in india should see the sufferings of those that get tortured in jails of india... their families suffer... still to this day 84 is happening.. with culprits running free.. no we cant forget 84 because wounds never healed and when i hear sikhs say we should forget 1984 it makes me feel very sad. I stay in India , and I for a fact know there are far less people here who vote for Khalistan . well i grew up in india and i didnt know anything about khalistan if i were told its to create a seperate country back then i woulda said NO!! also... because growing up in india is much different than growing up in canada uk or america.. my parents dont speak of 84 folks sitting in canada and UK also lost family members in 84... a lot of people flew abroad cos they were at risk of getting killed by police we all have shaheeds in our families.. and we belong to punjab as much as any of those living in punjab do because we love and care for punjab.. we want to see it in harmony..we dont want to shed blood either... only thing that has changed is that living in india they have been brain washed unlike most of us here... "Have you realised how many sikh women could become raped and widowed ? how many kids orphans and how many sikh youth will die , just because of some stupid step of sikhs in canada and UK ? " do you know there are many widows suffering and many women that were raped...and have no future ahead.. because they live with what happened then...till now... and then we have sikhs around india not seeing their pain annd looking for an easy way out... There are many other ways to defend religion . Why the ugly way ? guru jee said when all means fail then its righteous to draw the sword... thats what happened in 80s.. after nirankari killed sikhs in 78... kanpur massacare...happened so many families were tortured... then Sikhs armed themselves...THEN ARMY brought its tanks to kill innocents.. THEN SIKHS ATTACKED WITH SHASTARS...........AFTER all means fail... there are so many sikhs actually making an effort. SOPW, KHALSA AID..and SIKHS FOR JUSTICE... they are trying to get justice through legal system... but it doesnt work in india so we ask for any other way even if its ugly to defend our religion.. isnt it interesting how... people that died in struggle against british are called shaheed and we are called terrorist?? people that like to shed blood? isnt it interesting how any struggle against british... is called struggle not violence... but when we struggled it was called violence and people still think... khalistanis were terrorist????
  16. all i want to say is that its wrong to assume that you "dumalewala singh" is better than the mona next to you.. its not you with this problem lotta people have this problem including myself... we need to stop looking down at people because of their physical appearance... because you never know who is how much closer to gurujee yh he was wrong at yelling at you but sometimes people do wrong stufff without realizing dont let it bother you [
