  1. on that declaration estimates recorded 500,000 sangat being present. but most of that generation who fought for freedom are now dead and the rest have probably migrated. true what you say Sewak Singh, Punjab is messed up! still shocked about the sgpc office thing! but Sikhs shouldn't really be concerned about territory when our own people have become our worst enemy. in a punjab khalistan state i don't see things as being any different. i guess we need to clean up our own backyard before we can look forward to an independent state, but in my opinion Khalsa Raj should be over all of India, if not the world!

  5. i got an idea. lets start saying that Hindu's are a sect of Sikhism. THEORY: in the future Khalsa Raj a GurSikh from Khalistan Aeronatics and Space Administsration (KASA) travels back in time and spreads the Hindu idea to the primitives. lol only messing on a serious note how i see it is that Sikhism is like a diamond. The Muslim tries to take it by force whilst the Hindu always thinks it's his in the first place. i don't think this will change in the near future. the biggest enemy we face at the moment is ourselves. rss are doing false parchar in villages to mainly illegitimate folk and our leaders are letting us down. the panth is infiltrated by so many anti-Sikh elements, if only we had the Anandpur Sahib resolution which would have alllowed us to do mass parchar amongst other things. and if we try taking out these bad 'Sikh' elements then we risk dividing the panth and arousing paranoia. all we can do is continue working for the benefit and propagation of our faith. the hinduization and disintegration of the masses has been going on for a long time, whether it be rss, western culture, conversions, baba dera's etc but the Khalsa has always kept Sikhi going and when challenged grown stronger. our history bears testiment to it. rss are aware of that which is why they are trying their best to destroy the Sikh identity but what they forget is that the PANTH IS OF AKAL PURAKH and no matter what they do or however bad times get they will never be able to destroy Sikhi. so bring it on.....
  6. what if, for example, during marriage one person whether it be the husband and wife gets into sikhi and wants to take amrit. are they not able to because their partner doesn't want to???
  7. woah thats some wierd views! cant't read punjabi but the writer guy with these ideas should be locked up in a mental asylum
  8. its the EUROPEAN union not the CHRISTIAN union, if Turkey wants to join then let them. Most Muslims in Turkey are moderate compared to other Islamic states. as for the influx of Turkish immigrants, the same scaremongering was apparent before the Eastern Block was about to join in 2004. and finally the increase in Muslims in this country, thats gonna happen regardless of whether Turkey joins. Lets look at the trend of growth between Sikhs and Muslims. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A GENERALISATION and my viewpoint on most Sikh and Muslim families-sorry to cause any offence to anyone. Most Sikh families- 2.4 children, raised in Punjabi culture (even thats fading away!) and taught zilch about Sikhi, encouraged to study etc Most Muslim families- 7-10 children, raised in their individual cultures but encouraged to follow Islam, the 'superior' faith, claim benefits etc This is apparent everywhere in Britain, while Sikh numbers fall the number of Muslims rise. Furthermore i work in bham airport, and the amount of Muslims arriving to the UK is astonishing. Whats gonna happen is gonna happen regardless of whether Turkey joins..... history always repeats itself BHUL CHUK MAAF

  14. lol i heard in the UK 2001 census that more people declared their religion as 'jedi knights' than people who considered themselves as sikh! looks like we got some competition
  15. forgive me if i'm wrong but i've typed the following text from a book "Give him the beloved , the news of us, the disciples Without Thee, the luxury of soft raiment and sweet rest is, for us, all pain: And these high palaces creep toward us like snakes! The lips of the wine cup cut us like thin-edged poniards. And dry as dust this jug of wine when Thou art not with us! The pallet made of pale straw is Heaven for us, if Thou be there! Burnt be the high palaces if Thou be not there!" SOURCE: THE TEN MASTERS by Puran Singh ji Dhan Waheguru i think Dasama Paatshah sang this shabad as he slept on the thorns/nettles in the forest after the battle of chamkaur
  16. agree wijya. i dont see how all religions lead to the same goal. for instance with sikhs the ultimate goal is sachkhand by bani, simran, selfless service in humility. but for muislims its a heaven full of worldly pleasures provided you convert 5 kafirs. and what bhenji said about the girls is again true. they'll convert out of 'love' for the guy and not for the religion itself. and even if someone learnt about islam and converts from sikhism to be a muslim it kicks off such a fuss by extreme muslims using it as ammunition against us. so how does that work out?
  17. it was alot more apparent a couple of years back when i was at college. muslim guys used to always try it on with sikh girls and there were loadsa fights back then. on www.whyichosesikhism the topic entitled 'responses to muslims' is genuine because there were muslims who always used to question sikh guys and girls on their faith to try and catch em out. the site gives an answer to commonly asked questions. despite being less apparent now it still goes on, but i think on a lesser degree. the outcry by sikhs made many people realise the conversionary tactics used by muslims a few years back. nowadays most if not all girls are aware. but a few girls, whilst knowing continue to go down that path then what can we do. we've tried the education, they can reap what they sow. as for conversion theres nothing wrong but if its done by manipulation and lies and exploitation of ones religion then it is. in the bham area victims of such manipulation often say that their muslim boyfriends have taken pictures to blackmail them or downgraded sikhism by raising issues such as gurdwaras named after caste etc and going onto saying that islam is the only true religion... your sooo right. many muslims, especially the youth believe that. my mate works in a predominantly muslim workplace. they always try to question him on sikhi (looking for weakpoints in his answers) and talk about hatred toward the west, justifying terrorism etc. if this one workplace is representative of all muslims then it is very worrying indeed.
  18. Heera Singh and K Singh your stories were extremely inspirational! just shows us that with the help of Guru ji anything is possible! 'TAKE ONE STEP TOWARDS THE GURU AND THE TRUE GURU WILL TAKE MILLIONS OF STEPS TOWARDS YOU' Bhai Gurdas ji (i think?!? )
  19. be ready for another longg read. MY PARENTS my parents arent into sikhi. my dads a commie and athiest to a degree. as for my mum, well she sometimes pretends to be but for example she'll put on rehras sahib in one room and sit in another and criticises religious sikhs at gurdwaras by calling them smugglars! most of my chachas, mamas etc arent religious and are either commies or alchys. so no inspiration from there CHILDHOOD/TEENAGE YEARS i had a top knot up until the age of 8. but as with 90 per cent of kids at that time i didnt know the significance of it and had a hair cut.by the time i got into year 9 in secondary school i started getting into bad sangat. started smoking, drinking and occasionally the odd spliff. and i started to attract alot of trouble particularly with local muslims and began getting into fights all the time with everyone and anyone, so much so that at one point my friends were scared to be seen with me. when i started college i began going to loads of daytimer gigs, having serial flings (no respect for the feelings of girls) and the cycle of fights and everything else continued. i rarely used to go gurdwara and if i did i couldnt sit there for 5 minutes and my knowledge of sikhi was extremely minimal. i was more into the jatt punjabi flex! the only way i progressed through higher education was the fear of bhapu's juthi if i failed! TURNING POINT my family stopped eating meat, my dad stopped alcohol for two days a week. at first i never used to bother but one day my mum sat me down and explained the reasons (something to do with shaheed singhs, dont wanna go into the detail). i started to question who i was and where i was going wrong. from that day i observed the two days, took it seriously and did the same. and things started to improve for me. and the following year, without even building up to it i stopped burning, even though my mates and cousins at that time tried to persuade me otherwise. and at the same time i started to learn about the 1984 injustices and began getting into sikhi. i also started getting into good sangat. the year after that i couldnt get enough i sikhi. i had my akhand path (last year) for my bday and for some reason i felt an urge to listen to the bani and i felt real comfortable doing so. after that i gave up meat and alcohol and started growing my hair and i now wear a patka! im still building up confidence to grow me beard and am trying to follow rehit as much as possible. with guru ji's kirpa everythings going right and im taking one step at a time. my parents think im becoming a fanatic! i've tried arguing and explaining to them but now i think whats the point working myself up, it goes through one ear and out the other! inspiration wise: out of many things and experiences i found reading 'in search of the True Guru' by bhai rama singh ji to be one of most inspirational books out there. well worth reading :TH: i find it hard to imagine how much has changed for me this past year or two but i know none of it would have been possible without WAHEGURU sorry for the long read..
