  1. I don't think there's much difference in mentality between jatts and other rural Sikhs. A bigger division would be between rural and urban Sikhs. So if jatts are a majority in pinds, then not surprisingly, they would be represented proportionately in Police too
  2. Maybe a lack of visible role models in media, and lack of Sikhs emphasising female role models in Sikh Itihaas
  3. Sikhi Saroop, practising Nitnemi, possibly Amritdhari
  4. This is a bit 'out there'. But anyone here think they have come across a 'spy' in real life ? I'm aware there are different levels of 'spy' and most of them have a full time job. But there are places in which they would be present, for example educational institutions, government etc. For example, administrators in Universities, presidents of religious societies. Apparently some Gurdware committee members in UK are spies for GOI I know that many journalists based abroad are potentially spies. Some might be 'double agent' working for both. Indian origin MP's like Priti Patel could be GOI agent. I used to joke at Uni that one of the Iranian students was a spy because in my mind, Iranians were different from other Muslims! Joking, or not joking, anyone met a spy in real life ? Or have any theories about media personalities or international figures who might not obviously come across as a spy, but who are ? I realise that there would be different 'levels' of spy/spying. And I am aware that 'spy agencies' likely look at this site !
  5. I've noticed male Sikhs generally know more than females. A case of parents neglecting their duty with girls ?
  6. You live in the UK. I find getting up in the mornings much more difficult because it's cold now, how about you ?
  7. I don't completely agree they are useless, but the quantity of 'strong' Sikhs is low. And often the 'strong' ones are naiive or can be too friendly with other hostile communities. Ravi Singh Khalsa Aid is one example in my mind. I see your point now about Pakistani Muslims and how they are more conservative etc. Too many Punjabi Sikhs are too much the other way in pursuit of maya and see religion of much lower importance. Also, many Sikhs make fun of the ones that are in proper roop, calling them 'Giani' etc. This is common even more so in India.
  8. Men should not encourage it but some do. Also, 'media'. I think the TV and cinema age (as well as radio) has done massive harm to society in the past 50-100 years.
  9. Maybe he's something 'special' so she gives him a pass...
  10. There's not many more Hindus than Sikhs in the UK. Sikhs are high socioeconomically, which would seem ideal for Conservatives to target their votes. It does make sense however that those groups along with Pakistanis or other Muslims seem the most 'physical'
  11. Why do so many Canadian Sikhs try to speak with "blaccents"? - POLITICS | LIFESTYLE - SIKH SANGAT I don't think it's that simple. I think these are cultures which more stand up for themselves, physically - that's a good part of it at least. A lot of Gujarati and Sri Lankans in the UK behave similarly.
  12. Would this have happened with Labour govt ? Seems less likely It's clear they want to increase political powers and reduce peoples' freedom, and gain favour from voters. Is there anything else you are thinking about ?
  13. I noticed the flag resemblance, but maybe just coincidence since I have not heard of any Iranians being Sikh other than a tiny minority. They are Shia, Shias generally are friendlier than Sunnis to other religions in my experience. Why would you support them 'being proud of being Muslim' ? I have met at least two Iranians who are darker than most Panjabis and one other who gets mistaken for Indian/Pakistani usually. Majority of Iranians I know have been warm towards me and other Indians. And Iranians like Bollywood and have mixed a lot with Pakistanis and Indians in the past.

Channi said that Maharaj Singh led an anti-British movement in Punjab after the first Anglo-Sikh war and exhorted the people to strive for unity and integrity of the nation and mobilized people for independence struggle. He said that Maharaj Singh sacrificed his life for the sake of freedom of the country.
  15. Not sure about the parties being a sham, since at least old Labour and old Conservative Party in past were quite different, although Tory seem to be going more 'right' on many issues and Labour doesn't stand up for many of its traditionally core voters. There have been some instances of incompetence (which I cannot think of more just now) like Health department not planning properly for having enough ventilators in expectation of a health crisis like the COVID pandemic, and the Windrush scandal (don't know if that was deliberate or not). But agree that to be an MP, you generally have to be 'special' to be selected, rather than incompetent or stupid. They in general need have very good social skills to be selected and have to be good at making arguments, and debating and thinking on their feet - definitely more than the average person on the street (at least from what I see). Some MP's might take the p*** with their second jobs etc and allegedly having poor attitudes in helping their constituents, but a job requiring such diverse skills filters out 'dummies' with few exceptions I think.
  16. Been more than a month, no update to what's happening, but WMP seem to be full of 'wrong uns' - there might be a high threshold for getting justice if what is alleged to have happened, happened to the Singh. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/black-country/sacked-disgraced-west-midlands-police-22247141 Sacked - Disgraced West Midlands police officers who have lost their jobs Sexual advances and assaults among reasons for dismissals By Richard GuttridgeAgenda Editor 05:30, 27 NOV 2021 Eighteen West Midlands Police officers were sacked from the force over the last two years as dozens more faced disciplinary action, new figures have revealed. Another nineteen former officers would have lost their jobs were they still with the force. Officers were hauled before disciplinary panels for a range of indiscretions including making sexual advances towards vulnerable victims and assaults. Most were able to keep their jobs in the force, instead receiving punishments such as demotions and final written warnings. But the actions of some officers were deemed to be so serious by force chiefs they were sacked. The data has been published in a new report and it comes at a time when police forces are under intense scrutiny following the murder of Sarah Everard by Met officer Wayne Couzens in London earlier this year. Eighteen West Midlands officers have been dismissed without notice since 2019. A further nineteen former officers "would have been dismissed" were they still serving with the force. Thirteen officers were issued with final written warnings and another 13 a less serious written warning. One officer was demoted to a lesser rank while 11 others were given 'management advice'. CID officer Kelly Morris was sacked and handed a suspended jail sentence in July for helping her boyfriend avoid arrest for a serious assault. In May 2020, 'officer of the year' Pc Dave Humpherson was dismissed for sending an explicit photo to a woman he met while on duty. Police staff have also gotten themselves into trouble, with 11 sacked during the same period. Nine were given a final written warning and five a first written warning. Another nine former employees "would have been dismissed".
  17. Think has to go through House of Lords first What did you think of this ?
