Many people, in fact almost the entire Sikh population believe that Guru Arjun Dev Ji was the first shahhed in Sikhi. I had thought so too, before i had heard otherwise from Bhai Pinderpal Singh Ji's katha. During Babur siege of Ahmenabad, there was a Sikh livin there named Bhai Tara Ji. He had asked Guru Nanak Dev Ji how he could help, and Guru Sahib replied that he should put out fires in the city, as there were many. Bhai Tara Ji obeyed and began doin so, but was caught by the Mughal cops. They asked what he was doing, why etc, and took him to Babur. Babur ordered Bhai Tara ji to be executed, thus making him the firsst shaheed of the Sikh religion. I think that Guru Arjun Dev Ji is thought as the first shaheed because was the guru, so his kurani wsa more well known.

When Babur invaded the city of Ahmenabad, residence of Bhai Lalo Ji, Bhai Lalo Ji asked Guru Nanak Dev Ji what would become of the Sikh panth. Guru Sahib replied that the Sikh dharam shall stay immortal as long as it is united. When it becomes split, then it shall be in great trouble of disappearance.

Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale had said that the day the Indian government attacks Harimandir Sahib, the foundations for Khalistan will be set. But Khalistan literally means "land of the pure." Khalsa is derived from the Sanskrit word khals, which means pure. We will not get Khalistan until we become the Khalsa of the Guru. I just hope it doesn't turn into Jattistan.
